I understand what you're saying but I don't think it is presumptuous, when another group steps forward in the same manner they will also become
targets of such. The Tea Party never became a target in the same sense. The TPM became a target of Liberal Media disinformation with all the racism
stuff and it probably would have progressed had the movement not been co-opted because before that point they had real power, a shot at really shaking
things up.
Occupy doesn't fall into partisanship, it calls BS on the whole system...left, right and upside down. Occupy forces the system to show it's hand and
expose the authoritarian state we are being swallowed up by. It may not even be the message of Occupy that they are afraid of...but they are afraid
that large groups of people can't be intimidated into silence with pepper spray, tear gas and batons...they're afraid that their media can't contain
it in a blackout because Occupy has made it's own media and that media has an audience....it may be small in comparison to CNN et al but the more
people see how the two don't match up, the more people will start seeing how lied to we are and people don't like being lied to.
The system failed to co-opt and failed to silence Occupy, so now it has to become the enemy. I came across a great article the other day that I plan
on doing a thread on that shows this.
