JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Mitt Romney said Thursday that he rejected the proposal presented to a GOP 'super PAC' that intended to tie President Obama to incendiary comments by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. — a risky approach that former Republican presidential candidate John McCain ruled out when he ran against Obama in 2008.

“I repudiate the effort by that PAC to promote an ad strategy of the nature they've described,” Romney told Townhall.

Now this either smells of a backroom deal with Obama not bringing up Mormonism or Romney figures Rush, Hannity and others will do the dirty deed at no cost.

We shall see.

Romney rejects it. That doesnt mean it won't happen. Technically, Romney and Obama have no control over what these PACs do. So they can claim no knowledge or no involvement if the PACS do their thing.

My bet ...the ads will go on as planned. Romney will disavow any involvement.

Its a violation of federal election law.

He may say nothing and give no direction to a superpac.

Probably just ended his run.

They tried that in 08 and it ended up not just being ineffective, but it sort of shot back in their face as stinking with racial overtones. Romney is right to come out right at the beginning and scorn such tactics. Sort of impressed Romney actually made up his mind so fast about it actually.

but, wait 5 minutes and he will be sort of in agreement with it no doubt...got to see who is in the ear shot to understand what position Romney is taking

It will be interesting to see the results of this nonsense. I predict that this attack will turn the Independent voters away from the GOP, but solidify the racists and hate-filled segment of the Republican electorate.
