Before i start this thread let me state, i am not christian, nor am i looking for someone to attempt to convert me to Christianity... It can't be done... so don't bother trying.

I find Christianity limits spiritual progression.... Now on to my thread...

People say... All you need to do is "accept Jesus into your life"... What is required to do this?

Lets pretend i am a perspective convert... You tell me... "accept Jesus"...

I would say... How do i acccept Jesus?

You say... just believe in him.... and i reply with something like this >>--->

How does one "accept Jesus" in Christian terms?

Does this mean head to your local church? Perhaps listen to your local priest/minister/pastor or what have you... droll on about what he thinks Jesus is about?

Now it should be known that i already know the answer to this question, but i would like to hear what this means to a christian...

How do you teach others to accept Jesus?

**Notice**
Religious trolls will be ignored... im not looking for smart assed comments... i want some Christian perspectives on this issue.... and the debate will take hold from that point...

Good luck Christians

The word is "prospective". Not "perspective". Just thought I'd point that out.

Also, in order to be baptized, you have to proclaim a profound belief in three things:

- Jesus was the son of God

- Jesus died for our sins

- Jesus rose from the dead three days later

You must believe all of these things, and accept his sacrifice as deeply as you accept the law of gravity. That's the bones of what is required to be Christian.

Also, I am not Christian. However, I was baptized, and I have had numerous discussions regarding the faith. I think, with the level of research and discussion I have partaken in, I deserve to have some say on this topic. Take it as you will.

My apologies, I thought you were referring to being a prospect of conversion, not a conversion of perspective...

I have this buddy who tends to switch words around, It's a habit I developed from talking to him.

Don't ask me, I'm not a Christian.

Although zombies are simply reanimated corpses with only the most basic faculties in order. Jesus retained full functionality, supposedly.

Mainly the three points that are listed in the quote above, you really just need to accept that Jesus was GOD and Man + the three points. Now one doesn't have to do anything special or go to some church etc. its as simple as that.
Biggest misconception people have about the word christian is someone who is catholic, protestant, luthern, reformed blah blah blah but thats not true. It's as simple as acknowledging Jesus as your LORD and Saviour.
Also advice to anyone with the same question, You DONT need to go to any church or belong to a denomination, the word Christian means like Christ as in to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
The Bible should be your meat and potatoes and church should be dessert, just something extra. Denominations is what distorts the whole idea of Christianity

-A christian who follows the word of GOD and not the Pope

P.S. sorry if i preached a bit didn't mean too bro!

Should we mention the atrocities advised by Leviticus while we're in the swing of things?

The Bible is outdated.

Maybe accepting Jesus goes a step further than mere belief?

"Jesus said to the people who believed in him, 'You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'"
-John 8:31-32

I think it's psychology. If you believe in something deeply enough, your behavior will change to reflect that belief.

I'm not a Christian either, but I think Starchild touched on at least a few of the beliefs you must have.

Also, in order to be baptized, you have to proclaim a profound belief in three things:

- Jesus was the son of God

- Jesus died for our sins

- Jesus rose from the dead three days later

Those three things pretty much goes with out saying...but! there is more you must "believe".

Some Christians, at least in my own town, believe very strongly that Jesus authored the entire New Testament, and most of the Old Testament. And, they also believe that he appears to them and speaks to them all of the time, and tells them what to do in a given situation. And, they also believe, almost to a man, that the King James Bible is the absolute, final word on Truth, and the actual words of their God. Never changed once since the original translation from the Ancient Hebrew. So, here, anyway, believe that or you are a Satanist in their eyes.

You also have to believe, and have not a single doubt, that Jesus himself is coming back, any day now, on a cloud, and he is coming to take all good servants of his to Heaven, to kneel on golden metal floors and praise their Lord all day, every day. And last, but not least, you better go to Church and give God his 10%, or else. God need that money bad, he is remodeling Heaven, we hear, and has to pay Union Scale now that Jimmy Hoffa is there running the Construction.

Now before you jump, this is what Christians here in Southern Ohio really think.

Well see as I started to follow my faith properly I looked into the Levitical teachings because to be completely honest, some of them bothered me a bit too while first reading but then i looked into it a bit more indepth.
1) Leviticus is part of the torah, as i'm sure you know, mainly written for the tribes of Israel.
2) The tribes of israel were extremely ignorant in their ways even after EVERYTHING GOD did for them
3) They we're set aside as GOD's nation to be made an example of for time past and time to come

One thing that people complain about is an eye for an eye, as in the law of equivalency, but if you look at the time period and the rules and laws around that time, this was a popular way to deal with things, now biblically why this makes sense is that this law was imposed to STOP people from doing cruel things, it can also relate to treat your neighbor as you would like to be treated. If a person knew that He/She would get done to them what they did to someone else, it would make a lot of people NOT want to commit crimes or do cruel things than instead of having to pay a fine but then they could do it again with no lesson learned.
Also rules about sex etc make perfect sense if you read them
Leviticus was the main rules that the Israelites had to follow to be set aside as GOD's nation and i personally believe that some things that they had to do where a sort of punishment because they were obsessed with having idols as gods and doing odd rituals learned in egypt n surrounding areas, and because of their ignorance they might have been imposed to do such, but this little bit is just IMO.

If you tell me something that you saw was odd please tell me so i can also know!
because leviticus is a long book lol

In all respect post the whole thing

Dispute Over Whose Children Jesus’ Opponents Are

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.

“If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would[c] do what Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the works of your own father.”

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

Since I'm not trying to convert you, no need to wish me luck!Lol

When a person accepts Jesus, they accept that he is who he said he is - the Son of God. They also accept that he can and will do the things he promises. He knows everyones heart, so he knows whether a person has zeal for him or if they are lukewarm.

Get baptized, then repent and let him do the things he promises. It is then that a person decides he is Lord of their life. He will take the lead for those who have trust in him wholeheartedly.

If by fence-sitter, you mean able to discern the useful properties of government and religion, and able to understand how both the positive and negative aspects of both have been constructive and destructive, and yet able to see how they might both be improved, and why, then yes, I am a fence-sitter.

If you lot are so unbiased and free from external influences then please tell us more about how it's the Christians trying to enslave the masses, not the Muslims or Luciferians.
