In the interests of denying ignorance, can someone tell me what do "biscuits and gravy" consist of?
Are we missing something special here in Oz?

Btw, had brekkie at a Dennys when i was in the US ... Wow! So much food for such a small price!

Bacon? What a waste of stomach space. SAUSAGE, that's the way to go.

Best of both worlds, have both - and lots of it.

Try some Square sausage, (also known as Lorne sausage).
en.wikipedia.org...

WHAT ABOUT SOME COFFEE????

It's ok...but for me it has to be Tea which has to be drunk piping hot.

Oh and the toast has to be made from whole wheat bread. Hate white.

I use wholemeal bread for almost everything....but not toast or fried bread.
Only have fried bread occassionally but toast HAS to be white bread, it is simply THE LAW.

Traditional bacon & eggs is a quintessential American experience. In other countries, unless they are specifically catering to American tastes, you won’t find this on the menu

Sorry my friend, but bacon and eggs is as British as anything can be and can be found in all decent and good greasy spoon cafe's throughout the whole of the United Kingdom.
And it's REAL bacon.

I googled it.

I don't think your missing much but I'd like to try it one day and then give an honest and qualified opinion so until such time I'll reserve judgement......but I suspect it'll never be up there with a Full English.

OK, that clarifies things somewhat. ( although the picture looks decidedly unappealing)

The 'biscuits' referred to are what we commonly call 'scones'. Another take on this would be 'bread and dripping'.

Edit, just read your reply alkesh ... all clear now, thanks.

that picture does not do biscuits and gravy any justice whatsoever...i can't believe they picked the most disgusting picture they could find..i assure you there are many different versions of B&G.. none of which look anything like that picture.. i've made it my personal mission to get that picture changed on wikipedia

I stink at cooking made scramble eggs, instead of an omelet.

oh well, it's all going in the same place. Looks like egg, meat, tomato, green peppers, and cheese on top, with sour cream, might as well called it a breakfast taco salad.

Here is a quick and easy gravy you can make in a few minutes.
In the freezer section you can buy frozen, crumbled sausage.Put
the sausage in a skillet, add 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, add
1 can of milk and heat and eat.

Hmm, I'll remember that.

Thank you.

My whole plate was filled with food, and I only ate not 1/4 of it. Gave the rest to the dog, He must like my cooking. He's chowing that down fast.

Guess it wasn't all that bad.

Huevos Rancheros, on the beach in Ibiza.
The calm Mediterranean, Turquoise blue
waving and washing between your twinkling toes
by moonlight.

Close your eyes, before sunrise.
Rinse and Repeat

That's funny, we had brinner (breakfast for dinner) tonight. Bacon, eggs w/ cheese, sausage links, biscuits and gravy then cheesecake stuffed crepes for dessert....I'm drooling again just thinking about it all.

If I'm ever fortunate enough to get to visit The States then I'll definately try some.

As you rightly point out I think the source of some of the confusion etc is that in the UK and Australia we call biscuits what you call cookies.
In addition the only gravy we tend to use is that which is used on Sunday roast dinners etc.
en.wikipedia.org...

Grits is another US food that sounds most unappealing yet I am reliably informed is actually quite nice.

Perhaps wikipedia again does it no justice?

on the beach in Ibiza.

A great place, not been for a few years....might have to remedy that.
