House Votes to Cut Food Stamps to Avoid Defense Reduction

Is it their job to help a select few gain more money then they will ever need by removing job opportunities, production and reasonable cost of goods from the US.

Well the Prez could remove his involvement in Libya which that Republican Congress did not vote for and approve. Just think how much money it would save not helping the people in Libya with our military might. Tell me again why it is important for us to be there ? People try to paint Republicans as war mongering haters of the people but somehow when Democrats are behind these actions it becomes the act of saviors of the people.
According to Jay Carney, Democrats seem to feel that a conservative budget is "Outside the mainstream" of America.

Honestly, there are way to many people getting food stamps that shouldnt. I was in line last week buying stuff for my 7 year old and me, and the person in front of me was buying steaks with food stamps, and paid cash for $150 worth of hard liquor. And as I left the store, there they were, loading up a brand new Mercedes SUV in a handicap space, with no handicap plate or sticker.
Mean while I scrape by on hamburger helper hoping gas prices dont go up so I can still pay all my bills and rent.

That's why I think we need to make a radical change in what the federal government is doing. In MANY regards.

But the one thing I know is that the government should not be handing out money OR protecting cronies.

Every election cycle you see the newspaper headlines scream DEMOCRATS WIN!! Or they scream REPUBLICANS WIN!! But they never, never, never scream AMERICANS WIN!!

I'm now working in a little variety store that sells groceries. I run a lot of EBT cards every day. Something weird is going on. I guess you're going to say "unemployment". However, the users also buy items not covered by EBT. They have smart phones, and the ladies obviously spend time at the salon. I'm all about economic equality, but I think we've created some monsters on both extremes of wealth.

BTW, the users rarely tell me they're swiping an EBT card, so we have to start over. They know they have to tell anyone who has a user operated swiper. Are the users ashamed?

Some of them buy loads of pop and candy with their EBT. What is going on?

Care to share how much it costs to build a greenhouse? Care to tell me where I can find the free land to build it on? Care to tell me how I can avoid taxes on the property since I don't work? I couldn't even afford to build a closet sized version of one. Even if I could, it's not going to provide me with enough food for my 4 children for a year. Great idea... I get it. But you have to have money to start it. Where are people on food stamps supposed to get this money?

I didn't mean that I literally don't work... but rather if I build one of those and solely eat from it, then I must also raise cattle or chicken as a protein source... eventually that becomes my own job. But I still have to pay taxes to the state for my land... so I guess I have to sell some food to people. I now become a business, have to pay taxes on my business in addition... lets not forget insurance for owning an at home business. You expect people that can't afford food to be able to accomplish this today? Really???

It high time for some radical restructuring of all the armed forces under one chain. Yeoman and paper pushers (very important) need to be 1 section that serves all former "branches". Army jobs, air force jobs, all the other branches have personnel assigned IAW qual codes. For example, if a Coast Guardsman wanted to become a tank driver, he wouldn't have to switch branches of service, he just attends the appropriate training and schooling to attain the qual code. Then he is available for any of those billets. Once transferred into that billet, then it's obviously full time training and his functions on a ship are over unless he put in for a transfer back into any other billet he has a qual code for (or gets training to attain).

So much duplication of services. Each branch has supply office personnel, personnel records personnel, cooks, etc. all doing almost identical generic tasks five times in parallel, one for each branch.

I've never seen this. I've seen people purchase alcohol with their own money while using food stamps... sure. I've also seen them have a decent looking car. Who knows... that same car may also be facing neglect under the hood because they can't afford repairs.

I'm possibly facing job loss as I'm a DoD civilian... and even I would rather for these programs to stick around while losing my job rather than more people suffering.

We have to band together. It's kind of hard, as most people are clannish. A lot of people discriminate. I live in redneck country, so I know that's not going to change overnight. There have been religious, militant, sexual, and just plain old socialist communes. I think in order to start, we're going to have to identify and describe ourselves and meet up with like minded people to pool our resources. Perhaps these different factions could form an "off grid alliance" for protection and exchange. Maybe, when we strip off the propaganda and convenience of society, we might find we can get along. In the mean time, I think we have some common enemies. Will that work?

Lol! No one is paying me. It happens, frequently. I have seen it more then once. Why do people have such a hard time beleiving this?

Seriously, go to a grocery store and just watch how many people today pay with EBT cards. Its a crazy amount. I was just talking to a friend who lives in Kirksville last month as he saw someone doing and they were driving a Caddy suv. People, open your eyes, the welfare system is being abused.

This makes me ill also I know alot of families who need food stamps because theri paychecks just dont cut it,but as the republicans ruthlessly work to strip every last dime and area of help from every person making less then 250,000 a year or so without touching their incomes like maybe a small tax increase, as they so happily truely believe they are doing right, yet us less then rich people see what they are doing. and November 4th is not that far away all that is happening is republicans are gold plating the road for the democrats to run the entire government, which is a bad idea in itself no one party should ever have complete control, the republicans have lost touch with reality and need to go. we need another new political party to have a balanced government, heck we need 2 new parties what am I saying one. anyhow they are screwing themselves and dont even realize it.
