Ummm Yes TARP was signed october 3rd 2008, Obama wasn't even elected yet dude...

The statement was distributed by the Obama campaign, along with the following note: Speaking for himself, Senator Obama outlined the following principles that he calls on Senator McCain to support: I believe that several core principles should guide this legislation. First, there must be oversight. We should not hand over a blank check to the discretion of one man. We support an independent, bipartisan board to ensure accountability and complete transparency. Second, we need to protect taxpayers. There should be a path for taxpayers to recover their money, and to turn a profit if Wall Street prospers. Third, no Wall Street executive should profit from taxpayer dollars. This plan cannot be a welfare program for CEOs whose greed and irresponsibility has contributed to this crisis. Fourth, we must help families who are struggling to stay in their homes. We cannot bail out Wall Street without helping millions of families facing foreclosure on Main Street. Fifth, we both agree that this financial rescue package should move on its own without any earmarks or other measures. We have different views about the need for other action, but this must be a clean bill.

Obama and McCain Issue Joint Statement on the Economy

Obama was a liar then, and hes still one now.

Obama has signed his own blank checks, without transparency.

What do you mean about blank checks?

and what happened when Obama tried to investigate the misuse of those funds that Bush authorized?

Do you recall?

The GOP blocked the investigation, I recall it here on ATS, supposedly we were punishing people
for being successful and demotivating the best of the best... I am not making that up... So how is
anyone supposed to address something that is defended by a contrary group? I can much more
basic things to be mad at Obama about regarding TARP... Like why didn't he investigate HARD
and WIDE despite all the signing statements certain people included and lobbied for.

You guys can't be mad at the lefties when righties play the blocking role for wall street and the
corporatism.

Come now.....

Transparency is not in Obama's Lexicon of doing.

Shall I make the list for you?

How about one for accountability ?

What i am trying to say is this. Obama could easily be less a hypocrite, and more of a President, when it comes to this. Hell,we are comparing who's worse,Bush or Obama ! The last thing I heard, was Obama saying he wasn't going to become like Bush.

You inferred it...

Lower mortgage rates are the end result, please tell me otherwise.

But you have found a way to spin that result and turn it into an evil endeavor,
just like EVERYTHING you comment on.

You take no position and then you find a way to demonize any position that
benefits your political position. Why don't you own it???

If you don't like me translating your inferences, why don't you be clear about
your position?

The "inference" is clear in the post.

The banks profit and benefit much much more than a few individuals who are already in trouble.

Why don't you own it???

"own" what ??

btw; you are a pretty good "spinner" yourself !!

The article states that the typical FHA borrower will save an average of $1,000

But your article does not provide how the banks will earn money by this move,
it only says they will. Do you understand that there is NO explanation to justify
the authors statements that this is a move to enrich banks.

This is the problem I have with all of you - you say things but you ignore contrary
information or you just say things without any evidence, none at all. You just
say and it magically becomes true
seriously, it is that crazy to behold.

If you guys lose this election it will be exactly because you guys do this, which
really clouds your judgement IMO. Some lies work, but when you take it too
far or you lie with such impunity it begins to back fire...

Hey, I 'm a lefty - lets make transparency the law of the land... I still think we should prosecute
scores of people regardless of any signing statements made with TARP. But then again, isn't
that the physical embodiment of CLASS WARFARE?

You really think you righties are going to support justice when it entails imprisoning the "best and
the brightest" AND WEALTHIEST in AMERICA??? Really, all bull aside... You think Neo and FOX
news are going to stand for that Sonny? While you guys have focused on Obama, you have
ignored the very real efforts by the GOP and conservative activists to keep the bank industry
safe from scrutiny, control or reform. So the result is America is busy looking at you guys screaming
FIRE over and over, which serves to distract from the fact that Obama's opponents are
busy setting up the same system that just crashed our economy by systematically inserting
loopholes and "FREE MARKET" principles, which are only means for more abuse, fraud and
setting up another round of bologna.

You guys would CRAP your pants in TERROR if Obama or any political force started systematically
jailing the captains of banking and industry, lets be honest...

Form a Psyops POV, you guys have been conditioned to fear socialism, but that also
means you have been programmed to fear the initial actions which historically
pre-curser to socialism - the JAILING (MURDER) OF THE ELITE and Bankers.
Or any action against the elite or bankers because that can accurately be spun
as a communist take over. So in this, you guys are the guard dogs for the bankers.
Neo is the archetype of this attitude, he cannot even consider the bankers because
to do so means that he will have to concede many points that threaten his extreme rightwing
POV, anti government - pro business... Neo is the perfectly programmed shill infact,
because facts do not guide his conclusions, emotions do. He hates the government,
admires business, any information that can serve the pro "government" agenda is
dismissed, including REAL and legitimate crime and misdeed of the banks and bankers.

From a psychological POV, you guys admire success, bankers are extremely successful
too, which is yet another purpose you guys serve in the geo political picture. You cannot
attack the banks because in doing so you will empower the pro government narrative
you disagree with, regulation and containment, control, etc...

If you wanted a professional analysis

the left serve another purpose right now friend and your reactions are a large part of that role
too. The last decade was a grand success and a giant social experiment, everyone is
acting according to plan. The left is the wild card right now, OWS IS feared because it
is not controllable, it can only be directed. Remember Action/Reaction in everything you
witness, every story that is injected into the public psyche.

Peace Dude

I never said that Obama issued the bailouts......I don't know where you came up with that. I guess its just your way of trying to argue a point with no facts since you have yet to bring any to the table.

The point I was making is that the TARP funds were dispersed by the DOT and that is an Executive Branch Dept and since Obama is the CEO of the DOT that is a conflict since DOT has oversight over the bailouts. In fact the Obama administration is preparing to issue more bailouts to wallstreet, but I am sure that you will find some way to justify your convoluted support of these liars and crooks.

However none of this matters since you have shown that no matter what you are going to continue to blindly support and defend Obama and make arguments based off of your personal beliefs and emotions instead of posting any facts to support your beliefs.

I posted facts, you just ignored them because of YOUR personal beliefs and emotions -
read them again... And why do you keep trying to present false data and premises?

Yes Really, the issuing of building permits are at their highest levels since 2008,
Sales of owner occupied homes are at their highest
levels since 2007 - Two of the most IMPORTANT pieces of real estate data to measure the
strength of a real estate market, and you ignore both

So if you are an honest broker and debater, why did you ignore these numbers?
You are not above anything, again, you are pandering to peoples fears which is
arguably the easiest way to manipulate other people. Again, why are you promoting
negative data, when there is much more pertinent positive data to weigh?

Here's data that shows that overall the big 5 US auto industry is down a total of over 16% since 2002, not to mention the fact that 80% of GM is now owned by Fiat which means that GM is no more an American auto company than Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, or any of the other imports.

Oh, 2002

Jeez dude
going a decade back to prove that America is worse off
-
REALLY??? You are NOT an honest broker - if America is dying today, why
are industries clocking stronger then pre crash gains? I bet you are gonna ignore
the positive data below so you can cling to your negativity. Never mind that sales
are happening and people are working, huh? We need a negativity fest so we can get
the communist, illegal alien, black panther out of office

Americans bought 1.4 million cars and trucks in March, up 13 per cent from the same month a year ago. Edmunds.com said was the most vehicles sold since August 2007.
If sales stayed at March's pace all year, annual sales would reach 14.4 million, according to Autodata Corp. That's a faster pace than predicted just two months ago and builds on the strong performance seen in January and February.

You claim that last year there was a "budget surplus for the first time in 4 years". Really?!!

If that's true then why did the deficit grow by $2 trillion last year?

I must ask you REALLY???

Is a 56 Billion dollar surplus a negative thing, REALLY???

Never mind that it the first such news in YEARS

Really?????

You posted facts? Well I'm sorry but reading through all of your posts I have failed to find a single link that you provided to any facts. All I have found are "statements" that you have made and claimed to be facts.

Going by your thinking I can state anything I want and claim them to be "facts" just because I stated them to be facts.

Do you even understand the difference between facts and personal beliefs?

I will leave you be now because I am sure you must be getting full, most trolls usually become full after they have been fed as much as you have.

Then nobody can help you because you have assigned yourself to the role of helpless
fool. Sad thing when you seem to be such a smart person...

The difference between facts and opinion is, what I have posted is fact, what you have
posted is personal belief. I am not the person wildly angry at politicians which is why
you can be lead by the nose if it supports that belief, which is what is being leveraged
here in America by the corporations and the government.

AGAIN

Your blanket statements about the economic situation of TODAY has been based upon
sweeping statements. I refuted those statements with recent data -
