You are clearly using the 3 layered forecheck the NHS outlined.......your first 2 guys were going in properly and were forcing things the way you wanted .....you were absolutely neutralising their flow and speed and focuses exiting their own zone which is all you need to do......you did everything you needed to do to stop them from doing anything progressive.

What you DID NOT DO......DID NOT DO.......as WAS OUTLINED IN THIS THREAD.......is you FAILED to use your n-zone 3rd mn properly........2 things here....first one is keeping him on the wall and using him as Excaliber offensively ready to cut into the o-zone up the gut diagonally as your 2 supports keep inside body position on Oilers d-men pinching them away from the middle ice up the gut .......2nd one is using him as a Hammer of Destiny defensively and keeping him in mid-zone middle-ice looking for the PREDATORY BIG MESSAGE NO-FLY open ice hit USING HIS DIAGONAL TRANSIT ADVANTAGE TO BLOW UP ANYONE TRYING TO BOOTLEG OUT OF THE D-ZONE FOR AN EASY N-ZONE FLY-THRU .......if you FAIL TO USE THIS 3RD MAN AS THE KEYSTONE "HAMMER OF DESTINY" WHICH HE IS....you will be burned as you were last game..... by the way....McDavid was hovering in the mid-zone and saw the rush and he cut over and was trailing Larrson so that puck was getting buried no matter what.........on that plyction had Larsson been struck by the Hammer of Destiny in the N-Zone......no easy bootleg d-zone exit....no easy bootleg n-zone transition......no easy o-zone penetration bootleg......no DEEP o-zone penetration via a BOOTLEGGING D-MAN........AND .....no goal......this was not Paul Coffey going end to end......you should be blowing up players who try to sneak through the n-zone on the bootleg.....make them claw their way out of their own zone.

When you brought your 2 forecheckers in ...one deep....one midzone 1/2 wall........it worked PERFECTLY....it put the d-zone exit into QUICKSAND.........all you needed was MORE URGENT DIRECTED offensive pressure coming from the n-zone to better capitolise on the d-zone turnovers you were forcing out of the Oilers.......this 3rd Forechecker in the n-zone HAS to be BIG ENOUGH TO SMASH-HIT AND SKILLED AND FAST ENOUGH TO JUMP THE ZONE AND BECOME A DAGGER FINISHING PLAYS.....and puck up rebounds and chippped and loose pucks and errant passes....this is why you are establishing the battlezone in the Oiler wheelhouse.....so you can take or pressure away pucks which you may then IMMEDIATLY transition into quickstrike offense not having to wait to build structure to attack....simply terminally attacking upon puck possesion with a shot-first or deke-first mentality ALWAY CLOSING ON NET AT TOP SPEEDS.

Now you can see why the quickstrike focus NEEDS the 3rd man patrolling the n-zone to be the swingman....he has to be VERY VERY GOOD.....and everyone has to be very very VERBAL with him so he knows when to pinch the wall to IMMEDIATLY snuff the bootleg and when to dart to the middle and slice in up the gut going after loose pucks like a Barracuda.This guy has to be able to lay down the Hammer of Destiny hits and also to weild Ecaliber style explosive terminal score-first always closeing-on-net offense.


Had your 3rd man in the n-zone been properly managed and had you a better understanding of his critical management duties.....you could have scored 2-3 more goals easily....and prevented 3 of theirs.


Just saying.....this is a small adjustment........tuning in the n-zone supports focus is a small adjustment...a refinement.....and to be Frank....welll I dont think the Oilers can overcome the super high pressure tactically executed forecheck I saw you using...especilly when it was energised and focused. .....just manage the 3rd man better and remind everyone that when you gain a possesion in the o-zone from your forecheck YOU DO NOT CRAP THE BED AND WASTE TIME LOOKING FOR A PASS OPTION TO DEVELOP......lol....you IMMEDIATLY TRANSITION TO OFFENSE AND DRIVE THE NET FINDING YOU SHOOTING OR DEKING LANE ASAP...everyone will positionally wall-out Oilers d-men and will win the footraces and collapse on YOUR REBOUNDS......the puck carrier must immediatly attack the net upon simple possesion.....NO HESITATION....and the support men HAVE TO KNOW AND COUNT ON THIS.......so the 3rd man high is keystone to sucess.......remember he CANNOT PASS UP BIG HITS....he MUST send the message no bootlegs will be tolerated without predjudice........ the n-zone IS YOUR BATTLEZONE FOR HITTING it is where you want to do your wet work.

This means EVERYONE SHOOTS ELBOW-BONE......they play the system but PUSH HARD to get into spots to shoot for the Elbow-Bone........ALL PLAYERS ON ALL LINES ON ALL PLAYACTIONS.....must look for this shot..................and only then can we begin to dissect Talbot......by asking every MAN....on every line......to pick a spot to shoot when he cannot hit the Elbow-bone.......Say Getzlaf follows the TSP and works everything towards scoring on the Elbow-Bone right between his ribcage and his elbow......then he PICKS the low stick-side post as his SECONDARY SHOT OPTION NO MATTER WHAT........this in effect removes Getzlafs time and energy and inputs into the shoting process....he is simply focusing on positioning and releasing not looking at 10 options but USING 2 options.........and when EVERY LINE is managed properly with all nine points of the net being incorporated as someones secondary option......4 corners outsides and bank-ins off of both knees 5-hole Elbow-Bone and Shoulders-up to Bar.Soooooo.....if EveryMan focuses on primary shot options to the Elbow-Bone and prepares a secondary no-thought option ......but allows the System to produce the opportunities as has been done so far sucessfully....well then I see a higher % of Ducks O-Zone possesions being sucessfully converted into GOALS....which is the PRIMARY FOCUS WHEN ONE HAS POSSESION IN THE O-ZONE....when this TSP management focus is used there is BY PROXY no overpassing or dusting-off to buy time.

Blues.....you need to go to the KISS give-and-go hitting the blueline set up wide E/W.......executed at 3/4 speed....not full speed.....give yourself an extra gear so you can accelerate thru the o-zone closing on net......at 3/4 spped you give-and-goes should be SMOOTH AND SURE....YOUR PASSES SNAPPY...AND YOUR FINISHES NO-LOOK QUICK-RELEASE.You are also pressuring them on your blueline nicely...but you need to GREENLIGHT every single player who gains possesion on takeaway high in your own zone to .....BOOTLEG IT 200 FEET...right up the middle where the Preds are the weakest.

You need to kick it up a notch now and you DO HAVE TIME......2 possesions finished properly. is all you need and you will be getting a LOT MORE THAN 2 POSSESIONS BEFORE THIS GAME IS OVER.

Tarasenko knows where the Elbow-Bone is....tell him to hit it...from the middle square to the Goalie...mid-zone release.

Wow.....if the Blues had played with this level of urgency to begin the game or even the 3rd....they win easy......this is what they needed to do to show themselves they can GO FOR IT MORE NEXT GAME.....they can dominate the Preds.

Ducks....their forecheck is focusing on extended puck pursuit they are chasing you longer than normal....look for some long stretch passes....and bootleg if you need to.

You NEED to begin hitting Oilers in the n-zone.....they are not afraid to charge into your zone.....you MUST hit McDavid AS A TEAM every single possesion as soon as he touches puck...CALL IT OUT LOUD TO EACH OTHER EARLY LIKE A POP-FLY so the closest to him can commit and everyone can cover.....he has to much room to skate.... do not give him 3 strides without hammering him....same with Draisaitl...dont worry about the rest.

IMHO...Ducks....simply sharpen up pressuring them on the blueline...and hit McDavid and Daisaitl every possesion ASAP..run em over clean and mean.....this is still your game to win.......the gameplan is good...solid.....just slightly adjust and be serious about looking to skate it back on them 200ft....be urgent.

Remember to work your System....work your strengths.....focus on zone transitions being clean...the shots will come but FIRST you have to win the small battles and footraces MORE THAN THEY DO.....you have more speed roster-wide....so use it....all they have is McDavid....come right at them hard and fast.

Ebbs.....Some people are asking what else you bring after the basic hit and defense....well kiddo with your history and skillset ....OBVIOUSLY.... FIREDRILL PUCK RECOVERY out of scrums and distributing/chipping/passing ... then hitting a lane getting open IS A STRENGTH.....soooooo....incorporate your strength into what you are being asked to do now....ADD more work on your own.....no one working with the team is going to tell you what to do Jordan....they DONT HAVE ANY TANGIBLE SOLUTIONS ......they are not Moma2....they are not the NHS....and they cannot afford me.This is a gift to you.To Nugey I simply say start using more diverse shot types....3/4 slappers...snapshots.....backhanders.....not just the sharp wrister....Nuge its about diversity of dynamic causality ok man....you need different types of velocity and rebound angles to broaden your opportunities....more high risk ones....and I know you worked hard to focus on low risk shot choices to be conservative....well its time to let your hair down man....and besides if the System doesnt incorporate directed rebounds.....then its waste of time anyways because its all about timing.... so you might as well just look to party-on and BURY EVERYTHING.....just open up like its Turkey Season and TMac will have to give you faster linemates than Lucic who can recover your rebounds.....like maybe Slepyshev who has speed and skill and plays heavy enough to build dynamics for the line . Nuge.....just ensure o-zone possesions are completed properly with shots in or on net every time....nd if you have to shoot-first to do it...then git er done man.
