This thread asks why are women doing this now, and not before? Like I said, maybe they're starting to fight back. But how? So maybe Mrs Uneducated B heard that Mrs A did it so she got the idea from her, then it rippled out from there?

Trends are easily started. This one should not exist. But women sticking up for themselves should, especially in those countries when they don't appear even to have a voice. Maybe it isn't even a trend and the reporters are wrong. That would be good. Before it ripples out any further and some other poor bastard gets his/her face burnt off..

Terrible thing to do though, throwing acid is an awfully extreme way to punish someone. Where do they get acid for a start?

Women are individuals, not a huge organism with one brain- what exactly is "fighting back" in THIS instance of real human beings?

There is nothing to indicate that she was fighting back, physically, against this man and just happened to have som acid to hand- it sounds like the evil actions of a woman, just as some men commit such evil actions which is also to be condemned and punished

Well if you've got the answers why ask anyone around here what they think is the matter? Why is it a mystery?

Most likely some type of cleaner and aluminum
mixture... It is possible to get hydrochloric acid
but i doubt they had it on the fly.. could just do a little
bathroom cleaner and bleach mixture its going to mess
your face up....

Just to let you know, this woman had to ask HIS PERMISSION for a divorce - which he REFUSED, thereby locking her into a marriage (more then likely sexual) that she didnt want to be apart of.

But your so right, feminism is destroying the world, can you believe it? Women wanting control of there own lives at the expense of men! This is worrying indeed! Perhaps they should have beaten her a little harder and boarded up the windows of the home so she wouldn't get any funny idea's about being free.

Feminists dont need to argue that point, if you were a FREE MAN throughout history, you didnt suffer oppression. Your wages were always higher, the law & society allowed you to beat your wife. You could have her locked up if the church refuse to give you a divorce (or just kill em) You could own property, you could vote, you were were the winners in the patriarchal system. Not granting divorce does not in anyway excuse the barbaric act of throwing acid in someone's face.
It is wrong to throw acid in anyones face, but it is quite amazing how some wish to excuse it on the fact that the victim has male genitalia

I agree completely that acid throwing is barbaric and shouldnt be done by anyone under any circumstance, i also believe someone, of any gender, having to ask permission for a divorce is also barbaric. People should not be treated as property, If men truly care about protecting there family unit then here's a tip: Dont marry a woman who's willing to leave her current husband for you. If she cant be faithful to him then what chance do YOU stand? Would you really want her to be the mother of your children?

Erm you can still wish to maintain your own family unit without expecting acid to be flinged into your face
