Geeze, poor boy, he's going to spend too much of his life stuck on women. This is going to create a competition between him and his kids someday

A lot more fun than eating human ice cream in England.

I agree that parents that choose to breastfeed their children till the ages of 3 and over should consider the reaction of the general public and I think that it is fair to ask that, at least, a covering be used. If we want acceptance of what we choose to practise then we need to accept what others might feel as well. We can't be righteous about it.

But this needs to be a two way street - if the need arises for a toddler to be breast fed in public without any coverings then we should never be or made to feel ashamed by it.

Your cat may like cows milk, but it's not good for it bro. Cats are lactose intolerant and too much can get it sick as.

Some mind blowing, immature comments on this thread.

When you enter a village and the woman there is breast feeding, would you still have the same reaction? It still happens, and completely natural and totally up to the mother how she raises her child.

Child abuse? What dead set idiot said that?
Half the problem is people not being comfortable in their own skins and they paste that on to every one.
There is no shame in nature, goodness how do you relax enough to have sex?
weird people....!

Don't forget most of you sucked on your Mums boobs too!

Considering that mostly lunatics or mentally-littered dregs of society run institutions nowadays, I'm not surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future graphic sex acts would make front page in such rags.

Who are you to say he's too old to breast feed? It's obviously just a shock-effect ploy to get sales. Any publicity is good publicity. That sort of thing.

But on the REAL matter here. Let's get one thing out of the way. I think it's odd for children to breastfeed after about 1 year to 18 months, depending on the child and how advanced they are. Some children breastfeed till they're 3 or 4 years old, and that's fine, too. Some however, breastfeed into their teens. That seems odd to us, me included. But I can understand why. Some parents form different bonds with their children. It's not up to us to judge them, though. Science has proven that there is no harm done in these cases. The child is not being sexually abused or anything ludicrous like that. It's a motherly bond thing. After all, humans are animals and if a mother wants to breastfeed her child for that long, who cares? It's not affecting you, or me. The child isn't rubbing the mother's %#$%# whilst sucking her breast. The mother isn't stroking his #%#$#. Yes it's odd. But it's harmless and it's also none of our business, even if they flash it all over a magazine. The real culprits here are TIME for making this an issue in the first place.

you should check out nat geo's taboo. There is a mother that from Australia that breast feeds her kid (hes like 10ish). Its very disturbing.

In some cultures the breasts are not really sexualized objects like here in the US. When I hear stories about six and seven year old kids still feeding off the breast I feel like it is not necessary in terms of nutrition, but here in the US I think a kid is going to be subject to some ridicule if that gets around the school, not to mention all the dirty looks you would get at the park. If a kid whose body doesn't need it gets it, why shouldn't I, at nearly thirty years of age, enjoy myself some fresh from the breast human milk out at the park? Because I am supposed to know better?

To me it seems like promoting developmental dependency, first on the parents and then on the state. It's early stage conditioning to prep young minds for more intrusive indoctrination in what is laughingly referred to as the education system.

As far as the Time cover, that is just over the top. Maybe they are also promoting the coming "total lack of privacy?"

Cheers - Dave

I have concluded that most of you have absolutely no clue what it is you want.

Always screaming about too much government.

But when it comes to a mother deciding when it is best to stop breast feeding HER child...you scream WE NEED GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION.

I am laughing at you.

And crying over you.

Peace

That's the issue or possible issue. "freedom means being able to do whatever to your kid". Well not exactly.

Part of being a good parent is separating yourself from your kid to an extent, but still being there. That is not separation.

Carlin talks about how some parents have a child fetish and it not being healthy, this is a probable example.

I feel sorry for the kid when he grows up.
It is in print and on the net... it is forever!
Google his name and up pops this image.
The ridicule he will face, especially in his teen years, will be brutal.

I think it's terrible that a miraculous and natural bodily function has been likened to smut and child abuse.
Yes, I think that child is too old to be breastfed; but I don't see why people regard it as sexual or overly harmful.
