Is it safe to put python on the computer without it interrupting any of your windows system files. I'm a little weary of downloading it, so I'm using the Symply live version. What does it actually do when you run it on your system? Are you able to run other programs in the background while using it? Does it make a difference of what python you use?

Thank you

It's just a platform, or a set of libraries, just like Java (which is often pre-installed). It is totally safe to install it, and it will not mess or change anything. Python applications behave just as any other applications. You should probably install version 2.7.
