From google.com I type in "1942 nickel" (sans quotes) and this is what happens. If I reverse the terms and search "nickel 1942" (again, sans quotes), here still nothing shows.

I started at google.com and entered 1942 nickel into the search and nothing, then back to google.com and entered nickel 1942 and nothing: the returned page for each query is blank.

Can anyone verify google isn't working with these queries?

Okay, totally strange.

I type the search query in and google does nothing. I click on the links I posted above and get results.

Hmmm.....

i used the anonymized version here and got a page full of returns.

I'll list some of the titles:
"1942-1945 Jefferson (War) Nickel Silver Melt Value - Coinflation"
"Jefferson Nickel Values - Coin Values Guide for Jefferson Nickels"
"Rare Nickel Found"

using the default browser on Mac OS (i never do searches with google's browser and i never search google directly; the site i linked to prevents them from fetching my IP)

hope this helps?

Works fine for me on google..

But I don't ever use google, and I have all my temps, histories and such blank.

Also AVG now helps you stay untracked.

I typed in exactly 1942 nickel, and got:

About 5,930,000 results (0.18 seconds)

www.calgarycoin.com...

www.allensinc.com...

etc

I appreciate the help all.

I've been going through a jar of old change and trying to get values.

I've an 1879 silver dollar, many 1942 pennies, the nickel mentioned above.

Maybe pictures coming soon.

Did you ISP glitch out for a minute? Mine does that sometimes. Especially annoying when I'm hot on the trail of something.

It's working ok for me.
It probably just glitched out on you for a minute.

More than likely nothing more than a common PEBKAC error, usually a result of an ID-10T error.

not the ISP- typing in the queries work okay on another computer at home.

In the meantime, I'm feeling rather happy the coins I have may be worth several thousand dollars, if not more.

I have dollars dated 1878, 1879 and 1889.
At the very least, they're worth face value.
... somewhere in the middle, they're worth their weight in silver.
At best, could be tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars.

I hate suspense.

I think I know what you are talking about, it had been happening on my computer too. What browser are you using?

I've been using Chrome and that seemed to be the culprit, once I opened it up in IE it worked fine. It's only intermittent though and only on some pages... Google Maps was doing it to me about an hour ago

That is awfully funny. I input the search terms into my search engine, Ixquick, and here are the results:
"Web Results 1 - 10 of about 42,392 for 1942 nickel"
"Web Results 1 - 10 of about 35,331 for nickel 1942"
I do not trust Google, and have goggle cookies blocked on my machine. Ixquick is better faster, and does not record your IP address.

Is 31 old fart-ish? Well, given that I work in the programming and web development field, I guess that IS a fair assessment.....

But then again, if you GOT the joke, then that makes you.....?
