Tribes Ascend - A very innovative fps game!

Tribes Ascend is a relatively new free to play first person shooter just out of open beta now fully released which is really in my opinion one of the first innovative fps games we have seen in a long time in a relatively dark era for PC gaming! . The main outstanding differences I can see with this game is the skiing system which definatly makes for an addictingly-fun fast-paced style of gaming for old-school gamers out there.

The game is beautifully balanced around the classes and there really is no one class beats all. Another interesting mechanic is that in the capture the flag gametype both teams have a generator, this generator on every map powers up the bases turrets, radar and also any player-deployed turrets / shields so this is a huge element to the gametype which if left unguarded can negatively affect your team.

lol what's your point? I'm here telling the community about a fun game and while I'm at it I may as well throw it in as well. Where's the harm in that?

Tribes 1 was awesome.
Tribes 2 and there after not so much.
This IDK yet.

If it's anything close to the originals it will be very nostalgic for moi...spent/wasted a lot o hours with them

I've never played the first Tribes myself but I reckon this might even make it into mainstream for PC gaming . People like Totalbiscuit have done commentaries on it too and I've been having great fun with it recently. Only thing I wish was different was me having a better computer.

What were the first Tribe games like anyway? Anything similar to Ascend?

For me, QuakeLive is the definitive shooter but I will check this one out too.

I've never heard of Serious Sam myself but . If anyone would like to add me once they are in-game add Wulfgarh. I think soon they are bringing out ranked matches too which could be interesting if they are aiming to make it an eSport .

haha that's exactly what I thought.

I'll have a look but I know if it's just US servers it wont be worth downloading, sucky pings never make it.

It's more than just US servers luckily, otherwise I'd be a bit screwed over too .
