Do we know if its an actual egg or is it just shape like one? Didn't bother reading the most of other posts.

...And I thought it would be bigger...still cool I guess.

So we still have the same question... What came first the chicken or the egg?

Interesting NewsFlash Zorgon,
I'd call and egg an egg myself
even though there are those who will interpret this
as speculation, and therefore subjective.

All the same, S&F

The question is is there any form of live or dead life in it or is it just an egg shaped object.

Looks like slag from the railroad bed. When I was a kid in Las Vegas in 62 there was a meteor crater about a half mile from our house which was in a brand new sub division. I think I remember seeing rocks that looked similar in the area. The area was being developed rather quickly and I do not imagine it would be around today.

I hope I didn't pick up any martian eggs from playing in the meteor crater.

I would definitely pick that up and investigate it if I was out and about in the desert and saw it on the ground.

I've said it before and it bears repeating. I think life in the universe is the rule rather than the exception. It is the reason the universe exists.

Nope. Another thread title fail.

totally agree on the title fail. Same reason I clicked, if you ask me that is quite disingenuous, but alas all too common. It's not to say it isn't an interesting article, it is, but not as interesting as an actual egg.

That said, past life on mars is already a forgone conclusion is it not? Safe to assume there probably still is and that is all i'm interested in, but not as much as Europa or Ganymede. I can imagine seeing complex life still existing there. Not to mention there was supposedly a radio signal from Ganymede back in 72 or whenever....sputnik. "We were not talking to you" ....man that still cracks me up.

egg found in martian meteorite is not what happened.

at 11 kilos, or 11000 grams, that little chunk, at say an average of $500 a gram would make it worth $5.5 million dollars.

not bad.

Well not just an egg shaped rock.
An egg shaped structure most likely
made by a living organism .
Or at least that's what I understood.

And I don't think the title is misleading at all.
It's exactly what I expected. Is it the OP's fault
people conjure up reptilian martians when they
read Egg meteorite and Mars ?

Is it a fossilized egg, or just an egg-shaped object, please clarify, thanks.

interesting article.

and ATS Mods... why is this thread title still TOTALLY MISLEADING!!
Needs to be changed (in my opinion); it was NOT an "egg" that was found.

10 microns is a bit small for an "egg"; it is the range of bacteria. The C and O would occur with inorganic carbonate. If this was a remnant of life, N, P, and S should also be present.

Let's all Ignore the fact that evidence of extra terrestrial life was found and instead debate about whether the thread title is accurate. Zorgy I love you.
