First of all the cop flat out told him he was going to F him up. You have 4 guys bigger than you on top of you telling you to put your hand behind your back while they are tasing and beating the hell out of you. Tell me how would you comply? Allow them to hit you in the face while you "calm down" and put your "hand behind your back" while they are tasing you?
Some people will go belly up no matter what, I believe it has something to do with no self-preservation, or more likely too scared to sh*t themselves.

People watch videos like this because it is a pornography of violence(pov). People are drawn to these kinds of things.

Although it is important in this case as it will surely lead to convictions, this POV is advertised all around us everyday.

Watching the video made me feel both angry and sad in equal doses. And the aftermath with the cop requesting treatment for the grazed elbow ahead of the dying man is the arrogance that really tops it off.

But it got me thinking.... there are people on the street at the start of the video so there was probably a lot of people witnessing this. There was also the cameraman.

All these people WATCHED a man get beat to death.

WATCHED.

And done nothing.

I don't know if I'd have had the grapefruits to get involved but I sure know how I'd feel about myself that night and every night afterwards for not standing up for someone who was being violently beaten for no reason.

I dont know what's more sickening here.
The video of all the officers that are supposed to protect and serve, beating a man that begs for his life to death, or the sheer number of people here on ATS that defend that very action.
The video makes me loose faith in the police, many of the responses in this thread makes me loose faith in humanity...

Don't worry this is all part of the plan. Bully the public until they can't take it anymore and then call anyone who can't take it anymore a terrorist when they fight back.

Only a few were transparent enough to support it and they were dealt with very well. Most people 100% see this, I would say ALL, its more an agenda to not.

Tragic this whole thing happened...

The video portrays some serious
problems we have going on
in the police force..

I would not go blaming every cop,
although it is easy to be angered
and let the hatred fill us, it will not bring
back kelly.. Lets hope justice is served.

I wonder if only the two policeman seen at first
are the only ones who really put the last nail
in kellies coffin..

Why did the guy not simply comply with the Police officer's orders?

Why?

What had he done wrong in the first place?

And do you understand that he was mentally ill?

Which is all irrelevant anyway, no-one deserves to die like that.....and for what?
Because a police officer decided he wanted to bully and intimidate a vulnerable person?

The fact in this case is that the dead guy battled the Police and lost.

The fact is that I only see police 'battling'.
I see a bully police man attempt to intimidate someone who in turn questions the police officer when he is contradictory with his instructions, the person then panics when he is assaulted by first one officer and then several more in turn.

He got what he wanted.

What, he wanted to be brutally beaten to death for no reason whatsoever?

The police officers involved are no better than the pieces of scum they supposed to protect society from and I hope they receive long prison sentences without segregation - hopefully then justice will be served.

If a person is incapable of correct social response, then perhaps that person is better eliminated.

woofie4.pixiq.com...

Take a real good long look at that picture and explain how loitering and 'appearing' drunk justifies that kind of lethal jack boot thuggery. Eliminated for his lack of 'correct social response', I just cant believe people are really that sold on this brave new facist world. What if that bloody pulp was your son's face and you find out that lethal beating was for loitering and appearing drunk? Utterly sickening.

That sickening feeling the rest of us get from watching this kind of crap as it increases in frequency and brutality, is the first steps towards a long overdue retribution from the masses. Karma is a bitch, may it rain down a deluge on these jack boots. No it isn't just a few cops, it's the whole damned system, violence is inherent.

I only watched 30 seconds of the video and then paused it. I could see where it was going. I don't need to see anymore horrible # on the internet. After reading the text I feel sickened. This kind of thing really makes me angry. I cannot stand to see bully cowards pick on the vulnerable. I hope they get released into general population in prison and get exactly what they deserve. This kind of thing makes me ashamed to be human. On a side note im glad I live in England and not the US, your cops are crazy.

I have had a few dealings with our police but I have always been treated well. Obviously you are going to get the odd case of mob mentality wherever you go but it seems to be a lot worse in the US. Its like the cops look for any excuse to hurt people. As for the Towers case, its the first I have heard of this incident. Doesn't give you much info on Towers behavior but being from Durham myself, I have a good idea of the attitude of the amateur boxers in the area. Not saying he deserved his beating but I bet he tested their patients.

Every single one of these cops should be tortured and killed on primetime television. # them, # their families. THEY SHOULD BE KILLED.

The guy was mentally ill. So you think cops should beat mentally ill people that don't comply, even though they are mentally ill. I watched the entire video and the guy was saying stuff like he doesn't speak English, he speaks Cambodian. The cop says "but you're speaking English now.". The guy didn't seem to get it. I don't think he was just trying to anger the officers, his mind was confused. Granted the officers may have taken it as the guy is trying to give them a hard time, but officer Ramos didn't sound like he was angry he just kept asking him questions. I'm hard pressed to try and understand why he deserved such a beating?

I don't think you will understand how wrong the response of the police was to this incident until it happens to someone you care about or maybe yourself.

Everytime I see a video like this I loose a little bit more hope for humanity. I've seen a bunch of fight videos. But the ones that make mad the most is when people in power take advantage of the little guy. Weither it's babysitters against toddlers or four 250 lbs cops against 100 lbs homeless dude. Tell me when the mother ship comes. I want in.

Well what could they have done? Had they intervened they may very well have been beaten to death as well. Plus it's with cops.. No one wants that kind of heat...

The badge gives them what many of them think is a license to do whatever the heck they want which includes brutally killing whomever they wish.
