My argument is not against your faith, it is against allowing this faith to restrict the freedom of others. I have said in many other threads how much I admire people with such faith - I think it's beautiful. I just disagree with these people allowing their person beliefs to infringe, restrict and otherwise cause emotional harm to other people.

I don't feel as though this is your intent and I am learning not to generalise when it comes to religion but I am gay so you can imagine my utter fury when faced with injustice forced upon others.

If I would fight to the death to allow religious freedom I just wish they would do the same for my own.

I'll try and be a bit more polite - you can imagine how furious the subject makes me as a homosexual, so I can tend to lose my mind sometimes.

Yes, I completely understand your anger and fury. I can't imagine the feeling of having something so important to taken away (in North Carolina if thats where you wanted to get married). Hopefully you'll come to find that most christians are not the Phelps, or the recent death to gays christians either. Most are normal people trying to find a balance to following their faith while not shoving it down people's throats. Some maybe I came off a bit brash and arrogant in my faith so for that I apologize. I still consider that the bible says that being a homosexual is a sin, and I will defend that with no personal malice towards an individual. If the bible said that everyone needed to jump on one leg on Sundays for twenty minutes I would defend that too. Jesus died for all us and I feel like that garners my obedience.

Alas, I am young in my faith though and have much to learn. I have learned I need to not so arrogantly spread the word.

If you are not standing up for Equal Rights - - you are the same as Phelps and all the other anti-gay preachers/churches.

The degree of hate has nothing to do with it. You are still denying the Equal Rights of a minority group.

The curse of Ham is used incorrectly, and has been discredited the way they used it in the colonial and civil war times. I know people used it as an excuse for slavery but it was simply used wrong. The curse of ham was placed upon Canaan which ran out after three or four generations. So, it was never meant as a biblical reason for why black people were enslaved and discriminated against in America. Just because people misinterpreted the bible, doesn't the bible was wrote to discriminate against black people.

Well your right I am equal to all others because were all sinners and equal under God. You even though you may not want to admit are equal to them also. However, I am not spewing hate against homosexuals, I am simply saying what the bible says and how that is my motivation for denying their sin. I harbor no hate against an equal person, and their sin is equal to mine its just I'm denying their sin. Stop trying to smear all christians into hate-mongerers. I don't agree with you stance, that doesn't make me a hateful person, it just makes me opinionated.

No matter what your excuse - - you are denying them equality in your vote to deny them the same rights you have.

The bible denies them rights, I am following my beliefs. The Christians that put "equal rights" above the Lord are wrong. Denying them the rights the bible doesn't give doesn't make me a hateful person. I am following my beliefs and you are following yours. None of that matters though, North Carolina made a decision and I support their decision. I don't feel that it is right to sin to make all equal doesn't make me a hateful person.

Excuses - excuses - excuses. Is that all you can do is make excuses?

And if you actually did real historical research on the real meanings of the so called "homosexual" passages in the bible "man has twisted" - - - you would find they have zero to do with homosexuality.

So it is exactly the same thing - - identical.

Luckily for us DOMA was just struck down the other day. All of this is probably now moot.

Yes - it was struck down in one supreme court. Still have a ways to go - - but have no doubt a Federal Marriage Equality Act - - will happen.

I looked up why states have marriage rights. It is to keep undesirables out of their community.

Talk about discrimination. Those rights can not hold up.

That a human being can think independently about equality for another human being.

I have read both sides of this issue since before the vote and still cannot understand why people think this is an equal rights issue. I can't grasp it. They have the same rights as anyone else Any man can marry any woman he wants. That is equal. What gays want is special rights. They want to be able to do something new that no one is allowed to do right now. That is special rights, not equality.

I voted for Amendment 1 because I believe words mean things. You can't go changing words to mean something other than what they mean. That muddies the language and leads to the destruction of the ability to communicate.

I would support a union with all the rights married people have if it was given a new word to describe it. You just can't call it a marriage because that is strictly between one man and one woman.

I refuted your claim that the bible advocates discrimination towards black, and now you call that an excuse. If you are going to claim that the bible has been skewed and twisted then please present the proof, I say this out of pure honesty I would legitimately like to see the evidence. Until you present that evidence I will still go with the bible. Yes those people are wrong, not because they have independent thought but because they are putting their personal opinions over what Lord's word.

On a side note, you still have yet to provide the evidence for homosexuality being a choice or an inherent behavior, its honestly just a curiosity thing.

Well its still dependent on the Supreme court to rule on it for the final decision. So it may not be moot just yet, but we'll see.

There are two issues :
1) "Equal Rights" - you who choose to believe that homosexual marriage is an equal rights issue, when many others see it in another light - redefining marriage based on sexual practice.

2) Homosexuality is a sign of judgement of God upon a nation.. Homosexuality is EVIDENCE of reprobation and judgement. Because of sins, God gives people up to vile affections of sexual immorality which includes incest, homosexual relations, beastiality, porn addiction, child rape etc. Again, its judgement and evidence of reprobation. It is also the ultimate in God's turning away from a people. Homosexuality is a sign that the Lords wrath and punishment is coming, soon. Secular history proves this - the evidence for sexual immorality was one of the last stages of every great civilisation that disappeared into the annals of history.

So, to argue that homosexual marriage is an "equal rights" issue is the height of pride and arrogance of man in full rebellion against God. Even though they know that it's a judgement by God for their sinful lives and forgetting the God of their forefathers, this growing movement to get everybody to clap like fools as they are in the very end sign of judgement is deplorable. Millions are foolishlessly and unknowingly accepting God's judgement as something to be proud of! And tragically, they see the rumours of camps, see the corrupt leaders, see the communist ideologies sweeping our youth, see the levels of violence all around, see the rise in child rapes and abductions, and fear in their hearts the very tradegy of this nation being taken down. Yet they refuse to understand that God's wrath is fast approaching, and as Sodom was our example to demonstrate how it will end, people just choose to continue to rebel.

Despite all of this, you will still scoff at God, insisting that homosexuality is an "equal rights" movement instead of the tragic reality - judgement by God as He let's us descend into more and more wicked defiance of Him and His laws. You can't see it, but your support of their movement is simply approving of God's judgement, ignoring the punishment that is coming. I will choose, on the other hand. to try to snatch a few of them, including you, from that fast approaching fire. Jesus reminded us all that most would have no idea what's coming until it does come, just like those people on the days the Ark doors closed and the flood came. The end is a promise from God, and none of His promises fail.
