Despite what you may have heard from the mainstream media, Mitt Romney does not have the Republican nomination locked up. In fact, he is rapidly losing delegates that almost everyone assumed that he already had in the bag. To understand why this is happening, you have to understand the delegate selection process.

Each state has different rules for selecting delegates to the Republican national convention, and in many states the “voting” done by the public does not determine the allocation of delegates to particular candidates at all. And the truth is that delegates are the only thing that really matters in this race. In state after state, the Ron Paul campaign is focusing on the delegate selection process with laser-like precision, and it is paying off big time.

At this point, there is still a legitimate chance that Ron Paul will be able to win enough delegates to deny Mitt Romney the nomination on the first ballot at the Republican national convention in Tampa. If Romney does not have the 1,144 delegates that he needs on the first ballot, then it becomes a brokered convention and anything becomes possible at that point.

All these states that Paul supporters are claiming Ron Paul won....he didn't win...those delegates are still bound to Romney.

No one is going to vote to "unbind"...no one has yet...no one will. And the dream of "abstaining" is just that...a dream.

Can you at least admit that the overwhelming majority of voters in these states don't support Ron Paul???

I'm talking about Romney hitting the "magic number". At this point, it's inevitable that Paul will at least get a speaking spot at the convention. The rest we will have to see.

All the bound delegates are still bound...Romney will almost definitely reach 1144...probably in a month.

If Ron Paul keeps it up...the RNC may just stonewall him instead of giving him a speaking spot.

And since you are Indiana...will you at least admit that Romney has won 27 of Indiana's 46 delegates??? And how many do you expect, seeing these results, that the State convention will elect for Paul???

Thanx for the info OutKast. Good News for Romney! Bad News for Paul. I am not hearing any conspiracies this time around...It's funny but this isn't even on the front page of google news.

Well to be fair Romney is not even bothering to campaign anymore for the primaries and was off in Michigan working towards the election. I have no idea if Paul is still campaigning or not although the fact his numbers are coming at the same level as people who have quit the race I have to assume he has also stopped. What is their really to cover.

And it looks like Paul might actually lose to Santorum in West Virginia.

That is pretty sad.

One question...

Who do you support in the upcoming election?

Bonus question...

Are you opposed to shaking up the status quo in DC?

OT I know, but forgive me, I am just so sick of the same old same old left right battleground that I can't help myself...

Yes, it is a bit off topic since this is a thread to discuss factual information about the primaries that took place tonight.

But I don't hide the fact that I support Obama, and "shaking up the status quo" only means that someone else wants to implement their own "status quo".

I've said many times there is no right or wrong in politics, just people's own opinions and preferences.

I can follow that reasoning, what I find hard to follow is an Obama supporter worrying about the GOP primary results???

I am on the sidelines here myself, hoping for a new status quo... but I wonder why you would feel the need to post results of the opposition party's primaries?

Why would you ?

Anyone should worry about the results of any primary or election.

When it comes down to the final run-things could go either way. I have no doubt Obama would have destroyed say Santorum or Bachman. Pretty sure will demolish Romney. If Ron Paul gets in it could be a battle.

I want to say I like Ron Paul, but there are a lot of details about him that really bother me.

There needs to be an opposing view on this site since it does really help us who follow the issues of our Country and still give a "you know what" to keep the course to try and help us Change our Country for real instead of Promise Change and do nothing but make it worse.

So, I guess if the whole point is to support two Views of the same CRAPOLA than you steal are left with CRAP.

I'm a fan of politics...I'm a bigger fan of elections.

I'm a Chicago Bears fan...but if they aren't playing...I usually still watch whoever is playing in the NFC North because I'm a fan of football and if the team I'm supporting isn't playing, I'd like to see what the competition is up to.

There has been a thread for every other primary election in this race...I was surprised not to see one for tonights when I got home. It's all factual information in the OP...I don't know why someone would see an issue with posting factual information about these primaries.

I see alot of long entrenched voters ( be it either side of the left/right battle) that are fed up...

My hope is to get all of those who didn't choose one side or the other, to decide that their vote matters...

All votes matter...

I am comfortable finding agreeing with agendas on both sides of the aisle in DC...

I just don't agree that our elected should be so easily maneuvered into 2 voting blocks...

It's not that simple... no matter how hard the POWER tries to tell us it is..

I say.... Pass a budget... once Congress can do that, then maybe I'll listen.. til then, I am looking to replace them all...

I see you as a focused political member here... kudos..

I would love to see folks paying attention to our election process..

I just can't stomach the repeating record... from where I stand, it's been an ugly scene for decades.

What are your thoughts on how we.. as a people... can get past the status quo ?

It's not about Obama, it's about OS's hate for Ron Paul, always has been.... How are Obama's projections? Since you are one of his supporters where are his numbers? and where's his thread?. It's alright though, at least the RP supporters have real life answers to why they support him, not uhhhhhh Hope and Change that's it, you ask in 08 why they voted for Obama and that was it, no reason, no why, just hope and change..... Hope and Change of what I say?

It would take people caring and wanting to be involved...and I just don't see that happening anytime soon.

Even the very dedicated and passionate Ron Paul supporters...they are trying to start at the top and create change from the top, and that isn't how change will take place.

There is only one way that change will take place and that is from the bottom up, change your local town council, change your towns government, then change your district, then your state, then you can think about change at the national level.

I don't see that happening...even the Ron Paul folks...how many are concerned about changing their local government...how many will drop completely out of the process once Ron Paul does???

For me personally...I'm not concerned about changing the status quo because I realize it just shifts into another status quo...or else we have infinite change and that isn't good either. So it personaly doesn't matter to me...we all live in a system...whether it is the current system or a new system....I will play by the rules the system provides me in order to succeed.

I don't hate Ron Paul...I disagree with his domestic policies 100%, but I don't hate him.

I don't hate his supporters either...but I do think they don't accept facts that are right in front of them. Support your candidate all you want, but don't claim that he is the most popular candidate when no data supports that. When I point out these facts...it's easier for Ron Paul supporters to just say I hate him, or I'm a shill, or a paid dis-info agent than it is to accept the facts and admit that the person they support is not the most popular candidate.

Agreed that it will take more concerned folks to initiate a change of this well oiled machine, sans a depression circa 1929 slap in the face, I don't know if it will happen..

What I do know.... I will stay true to myself, regardless the financial repercussions, and seek some real change in DC..

Disclamer... I am talking about the HOUSE & SENATE...

Much worse issue than who resides at 1600 Penn. AVE...

Sooner the folks realize that... the sooner we will get the change

Its not news to the Ron Paul people because Ron Paul lost horribly in these states and they don't want to admit it. Even in this thread they are pulling at straws and saying Ron Paul is really winning with his movement or whatever. As you pointed out OutKast. Movements are movements. They aren't going to change anything, and IF they do, then they become the status quo and people will protest that and change it back. It's a cycle. That frankly I do not care for. Whatever the world throws at me, I exploit for my own personal gain and I tell others about how they can be successful at doing something like me as well! That's the point to life, be happy and do what you want. You can still do that in America!

I respectfully disagree with thinking that the spirit of America = getting what I can get... which is what I took from your post..

If I was incorrect with my assessment, please explain ..

Not looking for confrontation... looking for understanding...

Yes I exploit this crooked system for my own personal gain and happiness as well as educate others on how to do that as well as be happy and live life to the fullest. I am quite happy doing it.

I appreciate the honesty..

But honestly, I can't do the same..

I am just someone that seeks something better from our elected Gov't..

and hopes that those who have the power to vote, exercise that privilege...

too many find excuses not to.... :shk:

I went to vote today. Nothing but old people in line. I guess this is where Romney pulls the biggest vote. Rank and file Republicans that follow marching orders from establishment GOP.
