Normally I would let it....

But not this one. BUMP BUMP

Still awaiting your response(s) to all of my "Worse" post. I have more..... those were just off the top of my head
)

Or have you decided to just stay the heck out of US Politics?

It could be worse...? Hmmm.

Worse than 8, maybe 9, wars going on?

Worse than 88 MILLION US Adults unemployed?

Worse than $4.00+ a gallon of gas?

Worse than Fast & Furious?

Worse than Obamacare being before the SCOTUS?

Worse than NOT ONE PIECE OF Legislation getting past Congress? (when they controlled both house no less!), except Obamacare-refer back to the previous statement about the illegality of that deal.

Worse than NO ONE balance budget in THREE YEARS... Matter of fact NO BUDGET, let alone balanced.

Worse than Obama begging the Russian President for a little more time because he'll have more flexibility if he is reelected?

Worse then adding 6+ trillion to the National Debt?

Worse than giving money to so-called Green Technology Companies that go belly up within a year of receiving MILLIONS of taxpayer money?

Worse than owing over 1/2 of you national G.D.P to the Chinese Gov't?

Worse than at least two Terrorism supporting countries obtain the ability to make nuke weapons?

And so on and so on.

Heck yes it could be worse. Here are a list of countries the United States is lucky to be distinct from:

Libya
Afghanistan
Greece
Italy
Portugal
Columbia
the list goes on..

Point is, a lot of those problems you speak of were there BEFORE President Obama and while debts may have increased, they were increased as a matter of last resort. American Politics is a lot like apple pie, you have to look beyond the crust to be satisfied.

Last resort.....

I see where you are coming from now. Another I want to be a free loader and let Gov't take care of me. Instead of doing the responsible thing... cutting spending.

Hold on now Anon72. I see you're hurting. I see you're frustrated. A lot of people are. With that said, I have one question I would like an answer to.

Q: Has Republican opposition to President Obama and his reforms helped Americans recover or hindered their recovery with all the bickering from both parties leading to a standstill in Congress?

I find it interesting that you nonchalantly agree that individualism is the equivalent of greed and selfishness, but your signature states "Treat others the way you would like to be treated and always be open minded and ready to empathize." Maybe you don't really believe that or maybe you are just unaware that the abstraction we call "society" is really just a collection of individuals.

I'm curious if the OP has ever read the Constitution outlining how the Republic shall be governed? It is a fool errand to choose who you feel would make a good executive if you don't understand the context of their role. My guess is that you have not. Otherwise you'd understand that the whole of the Bill of Rights is a declaration of the rights of the individual as unalienable. The State exists FOR the individual, not individuals for the development of the state.

The Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals. It does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government. It is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizens' protection against the government.

His business experience is a skill he would bring to the White House yet I have also heard people advocate for Ron Paul. Between you and me, what does Romney have over Ron Paul? Secondly, how has his "corporations are people" quote (see video in earlier post) affected your opinion of him, if at all? Thanks in advance.

I'm not an American, nor am I a huge fan of Obama, but I think that - as far as US presidents go - he's done a reasonable job.

People like to conveniently forget that the start of his tenure coincided with the 2008 financial collapse, so he gets an awful lot of unwarranted blame for the economy, despite the fact that the bad state of the economy is far beyond his control.

He's certainly better than Mitt Romney, the crazy Rick Santorum or that kooky, out-of-touch dinosaur, Ron Paulosaurus.

Nice try. Hurting... lol

It has helped. It has stop, rather paused for now, Obama's socialist agenda.

Here is a question for you, which to date NO ONE has answered or attemtpted to... ready?

If you set out to destroy America, what would you differently than Obama has done in the last 3 years?

All good points. I'll be the first to admit, I still have a lot to learn and I'm willing to be, for lack of a better word, schooled. With that said, I agree when you wrote that the state exists for the individual versus vice versa. What I disagree with is the belief that I "nonchalantly agree that individualism is the equivalent of greed and selfishness". Individualism, as with lollipops, come in different flavours. With that said we can split this into two camps.

1) People who believe human nature is inherently good

2) People who believe human nature is inherently evil

"good" and "evil" are subject to individual interpretations regarding definitions but I do believe that if given the opportunity a lot of people would exercise selfishness and greed knowing they could get away with it. Politics is a dirty game. Yet, that does not mean there are good actors, let alone dual actors who are sometimes greedy and sometimes good. People do good and bad things everyday. Ultimately, I am cautious when it comes to saying humanity is pure. Some have labelled the human species as another animal yet while I am cautious I am also optimistic that now and then, the good within us with prevail.

Think of the sign for Libra. The scale. You have to weigh the good with the bad. Sometimes the good wins. In politics, most often than not, the "bad" wins.

Ah! Good question! Okay here is my response.

I would mobilize the military. I start diplomatic talks with Canada and Mexico to get North American universal currency passed. Once the military has been mobilized I would back my aggressiveness with business threats to boycott their (those who do not side with me) products if they do not comply. I would start negotiations with Russia and maybe insult them. I would then mock them into starting a nuclear war forcing all on this continent to rally behind me for protection. Once I have done that I would start a barcode program barcoding people to monitor them. I could write a book on all the things I would do but essentially the outcome would be the same - World War Three and people linking me with the anti-christ.*

*You asked what I would have done differently if I was SET OUT to destroy.

P.S. Perhaps I should clarify that the military arm would continue to serve after a mandatory drug program has been initiated to literally have them succumb to whatever orders were given by their superiors. Regarding Congress, once a war has started, I dare say they would not impeach me until it has finished. I would then bribe members for continued support using gold and exotic women. This really is a worst case scenario but you asked.

Thanks for your opinion Sherlock Holmes. Very witty name for Ron Paul but I still believe all candidates deserve respect until they have proven otherwise. Ron Paul has, as of yet, not proven otherwise. Secondly I'd have to echo your first bit, "nor am I a huge fan of Obama". Despite my somewhat propaganda posts, neither am I. Yet I know things could be worse.

take away medical coverage, take away collective bargining, NOT protect regular people from corporations, cut jobs programs, give tax breaks to the rich, who, in the bush administration, DID NOT create jobs

the republicans are the ones out to destroy america. i don 't have the space here to spell out all the ways the republicans have ruined the lives of millions of middle class and poor people.
and why no ones answers your question is because regular people all across this nation have seen and felt the economic brutality that the republican war against the american worker has wrought.

It's amusing to me that the Republican obstructionism, that has been the war cry of the GOP since the VERY first day Obama was in office, is now being blamed on Obama...

The GOP wanted Obama to fail and did everything in their power to make sure that happened, the population be damned... And now, they are saying that Obama's failures are because he didn't do the right thing, when in truth, the GOP in Congress blocked him from doing the right thing at every opportunity, because it was their goal to do so... THEIR goal. The GOP's goal.

The population be damned... And now they want to go back to the GOP strategy that got us in the mess in the first place...

It's all very amusing.

I'm not going to start pointing the fingers of blame at anyone. The common thread here is that out of all the possible things that could have happened. Things could always be worse. You could say that for anything. Rainy day? Add some falling frogs from the sky to make it worse. Dropped your ice cream? Add dropping your ice cream on your new shoes to make it worse. Out of all the possible outcomes, the fact that we on ATS have the luxury to post these posts (even if some of us are in different countries) is a positive.

The whole "corporations are people" deal is all about free speech, I don't have a problem with free speech, so I don't have a problem with the quote.

Ron Paul has never been a factor. His anti-war, pro-drug supporters are a huge turn off. Not electable.

F&S for the OP! If for no other reason than to reward you for your insight, honesty and bravery. I only hope that you feel up to a head-butting debate, because that's what you're gonna get from the infestation of Ron Paul supporters currently being experienced here on ATS.

I too support the President in his bid for re-election but I doubt that you'll have much luck promoting that viewpoint here on ATS, at least not now. It seems, at least in my opinion, that most of the ATS Obama supporters have either grown tired of the endless head-butting debates and chosen to remain silent at this time, or they have left ATS altogether.

Personally, I believe that despite the fact that some of his campaign promises have not been met, (which is the case with every POTUS in American history) President Obama has done as good a job as could be expected in light of the fact that the GOP has utilized every tool in the box in their quest to see that his policies fail.

I can't wait till after he has won re-election and the "Anyone But Obama" fan club is relegated into obscurity. Unless of course, the mods decide to create a new forum for crybabies.

Anyway, Good luck with your thread!
