Fukushima is the largest moder day cover up in history. All in the name of profit and economics of course. God forbid they lose a dollar in the name of humanity, oh no. Hell, The only story being buried more is Ron Paul's true poll numbers.

Since we don't know ALL that is covered up (as it is still covered up), I can't comment on that YET.

What this cover-up has in common with most cover-ups is the money issue but ALSO - corrupt wolves in charge of the hen house. When the watchdog is a wolf, the hens are never safe.

I believe someone in this thread mentioned Thorium reactors.

If anyone wants to watch this video, it actually mentions Fukushima in it, and discusses the usage of Thorium opposed to Uranium
DEFINITELY worth the 5 minutes.

sorry, to be clear: reactors 1-3 (built just as 4) did have spent fuel pools similar to 4. 4 was shut down for maintenance and did not get a meltdown but did expose the pool to catastrophe.

1-3 had some form of meltdown. The Rods contained in 1-3 are? How many were there - are there?

We have 5-6 which also have SFP's and, in the case of massive shut down of power or the inability to get to them for maintenance, would become an issue, but "less" as the buildings are a bit different and not currently damaged.

For each rod to be a non issue, it would need to be contained in a cask that, at today's market, would cost some 1 million bucks, but.... the rods are not stable enough to contain them yet...

But, all is under control because we have salt water keeping everything cool, the same salt water that corrodes everything it touches... and, we don't really have any place to put the contaminated salt water that will be created over the next 10 years or so.

Thanks for your grounded insight, I hope our conversation adds something to the awareness pool.

Try this page.

An independent investigation panel, established by the Rebuild Japan Initiative Foundation, reviewed how the government, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco), and other relevant actors responded. In this article, the panel's program director writes about their findings and how these players were thoroughly unprepared on almost every level for the cascading nuclear disaster. This lack of preparation was caused, in part, by a public myth of "absolute safety" that nuclear power proponents had nurtured over decades and was aggravated by dysfunction within and between government agencies and Tepco, particularly in regard to political leadership and crisis management. The investigation also found that the tsunami that began the nuclear disaster could and should have been anticipated and that ambiguity about the roles of public and private institutions in such a crisis was a factor in the poor response at Fukushima.

...

3. Units 2 and 3 become impossible to cool, even when filled with water. Water cannot be injected, moreover, into the spent fuel pool of Unit 4.

4. Spent fuel becomes exposed in the pool at Unit 4, and the damaged fuel begins to melt. This melted fuel interacts with the concrete of the pool itself, producing a molten fuel-coolant interaction (MFCI)2 and releasing radioactive materials.4

There's no mention of the NRC (the wolf in the hen house) on the pdf link though.

Well yeah, That's very true. However, When we hardly see any coverage whatsoever one begins to speculate, and my speculation is that something very sinister could be going on over at Fukushima. However as your point above addresses, it's nothing more than an assumption.

Come to think of it, I have not seen one commercial on tv or ad on the internet that even asks for any donations or aid to Japan. My god when that Earthquake hit Haiti, you could not change the channel without some organization with their hand out. Think about it, With so much damage and so many displaced persons one would think that we would be helping our Japanese allies? Maybe our Governmet secretly is, I don't know. They sure as hell are not bragging about it and that's probably because it will only bring more attention to what I believe both Governments have been putting many resources into covering up.

If you think about all the exports to America and abroad from Japan, all the Fish products, Rice products, Vehicles ect. It's not very hard to figure out why The World is not being informed about the facts concerning Fukushima. As usual, In my opinion it's profit comes before everything else, including humanity and all life on this planet.

So, With that being said, I myself would wager that my assumption weighs very heavily on the side of possibly being the truth. What exactly the spectrum of that entire truth is remains to be seen. We may never even know all the facts. Appreciate your response. ~$heopleNation

Excellent video. A safer way and probably cheaper too, trouble is it can't be diverted easily to nuclear weapons quickly. Bypassing the nuclear weapons treaties would be impossible. These reactors are a threat to capitalism as it is today. Maybe when capitalism and their patents are gone we can get on to a safe world with less waring potential.

What do we do with all this nuclear stuff if something happens in the world. Any survivors would never be able to go outside as these plants disintegrate. We should never have built these nuclear plants, an earthquake can rip the storage areas apart in a hundred years. We only seem to secure them temporarily, is that wise?

There are fish dealers in California - testing their own fish for radiation. I've also heard of a few American auto dealers running the radiation detectors across their Japanese merchandize.

Red Cross DID advertise a year ago for Fukishima Disaster relief. I forgot the figures now; but, what the Japanese people actually GOT from the donations worked out to something like 10%. Pitiful!

But true, as you said. There is cover-up all the way from the top (Obama) in US news media.

Most people I mention it to, shrug it off. They WANT to hide their heads in the sand like ostriches.

The problem is, Japan needs to ACCEPT help from nuclear scientists and specialists ... the same people who invented this problem.

Some say the Japanese don't want help because it's not honourable to accept help. That doesn't fly with me ... not when it IS dishonourable to lie and decieve their own people like they have done. It's not an honour issue at all. It can't be.

You know what I'm thinking when seeing these ATS headlines on the index? That they are OVERsensational, and by bringing them you want to make a conspiracy out of it FOR THE SHOW, well, 'for the show' must not be tolerated. It is but last I heard the reactor doesn't release anything dangerous any more.

You are in error. Actually, it's nothing more than members who are concerned with this incident sharing their opinions on the matter. Luckily you're not policing ATS where we are fortunate enough to already have the best doing just that. I would kindly suggest allowing them to make that judgement.

I don't see what the issue is anyway, Fukushima is an important subject where voices need to be heard. It is essential to finding out the facts, possibly for our very survival, That this tragedy continues to be discussed. To those who desire the Fukushima chatter to cease, I suggest that you instead watch paint dry or instead pound sand. Don't like it, Too bad. ~$heopleNation

IIRC, 1-3 were the only units in operation at the time of the quake; 4-6 were down for maintenance.

R4 had an entire full core awaiting shroud replacement, along with its inventory of spent fuel in the SFP.

That being said, and in consideration of the quoted portion of the PDF I links in my previous post (trexter, that was meant as a general document related to the accident moreso than in reply to your post hence my separating it with a "more" tag) I present a portion of this post in which some of the thermal images and their ramirications are discussed.

If you note the hotspot in the place where the actual reactor well is in R4 (which, remember, is reported as being unloaded) the conclusion reached was that either the core had been loaded in to the reactor, or it melted within the pool and slumped into the reactor via the passage between the well and the gate.

the first thermal released the red arrow is #4 the green arrow is #3 sfp and teh black arrow red circle is the aera of the #3 rpv:

Yeah, I have heard the honour theory. I would agree that this is much bigger than that. Course, I remember when the Russians were refusing help with the Kursk sub, so I don't know. I share the opinion that the best minds of the World need to come together in order to figure this tragedy out for the sake of humanity, not to mention all life on planet Earth. ~$heopleNation

Every time it rains now, I wonder what is coming down from the clouds. The rain, of course is making it into the water supply, and us. Then one has to wonder what we are eating. Is the agriculture on the US west coast contaminated? If it was, would they tell us? Is the tuna safe? I cant even imagine that any seafood coming out of the Pacific is safe at this point, given the total information vacuum we are living in. The food chain in the ocean I have read, is a radiation multiplier. The little things, the plankton, get irradiated, then the small fish eat the plankton, the bigger fish eat the small fish, and of course eventually we eat some of the bigger fish. Its really an awful situation we are in. I would like to get a radiation detector to test food but I think its so low level it probably wont register. Still enough to get into the cells and give us cancer at some future date. The world cancer rate is going to skyrocket. Helen Caldicott is suggesting moving to the Southern hemisphere if the SFP falls. I like most people are a little short on cash to do that.

Don't try to reason with this member. She is a pathological liar, else extremely delusional.

"a friend" tells her information quite often...I wonder if this "friend" is an alter she hears in her head...

Not kidding about this. This member is just nuts.

I think this is the post, cause I just got this long u2u from you. You're free to believe whatever you wish in life, but it doesnt change what others go through. So just take care and be happy is all "I can say. Fukushima is to me one of the scariest things going, it has very dark implications, and they have the tech to deal with it. So this isn't an "accident".

If enough people wake up, it might change things.

I even wonder if 1 million meditated and focused on this, on healing it, on people waking up, on nuclear power ending, and on solutions coming out, and healing it, just having this stop, if it would work. You would consider that delusional no doubt, but I already know that intent and focus works, I don't know if it works for big things like this, but I hope humanity does start to think out of the box, and do the right thing in speaking up and demanding disclosure and truth, firing them, not voting for corruption, AND using every metaphysical spriitual tool they have at their disposal.

Lots of Peace, Love & Light to you on your journey.

How about this for a mind screw? It's 90 degrees out here in Northern California and earlier I was staring at my swimming pool wondering how much radiation it contains, so I didn't jump in. I was about to call my pool supply place and ask if any of their cancer causing chemicals remove radiation from swimming pools. No, I am not joking. LMAO! Hell, Rain has been dumping in there all year. I don't know, I really don't know what to think. ~$heopleNation

I would guess that it depends on the level of radiation that is being released daily. At high doses those near could be effected very soon. At lower levels like out here on the West Coast and possibly the Hawaiian Islands, it may take months, years or even decades to show up.

Obviously tests need to be taken and the results need to be recorded by reliable honest sources, which thus far we have heard absolutely nothing about. There has barely been even any news whatsover concerning the Fukushima workers who were exposed as well as the Japanese residents that lived nearby who were evacuated.

Like I said before, at the end of the day it's all speculation until educated minds study and release the scientific facts and results. I personally would not hold your breath while anticipating an answer though. That's just me though. ~$heopleNation
