Thousands of pills filled with powdered human flesh have been discovered by customs officials in South Korea

The capsules are in demand because they are viewed as being a medicinal 'cure-all'.

The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born.

The Chinese have historically consumed human placentas to improve blood supply and circulation.

Chinese officials are understood to have been aware of the trade and have tried to stop the capsules being exported but thousands of packets of them have been smuggled through to South Korea

According to customs agents, 35 smuggling attempts have been made since August last year involving more than 17,000 capsules disguised as 'stamina boosters'.

Hospitals and abortion clinics in China reportedly pass the remains onto drugs companies when a baby is stillborn or aborted, the South Korean SBS documentary team reported last year.

The San Francisco Times reported that tests carried out on the pills confirmed they were made up of 99.7 per cent human remains.

This is horrific. But besides this being horrific, it is also very dangerous.

There is a huge demand for the pills which are thought to enhance stamina. Microwave-dried placenta is also sought after for its alleged 'medicinal' benefits.

However, in reality the human flesh capsules contain super-bacteria and other harmful ingredients.

Chinese newspapers have identified the north eastern provinces as the source of the human flesh capsules, in particular the Jilin region which is close to North Korea.

There have been disturbing reports that some babies were those who had perished in China's notorious 'dying rooms' where youngsters are deliberately left to die because they were born into families that already had the limit of one child in country areas.

The Chinese authorities have confirmed that 38 per cent of women of child-bearing age have been sterilised - but the babies that are aborted do not go to waste because of the sickening trade in using their corpses for purported medicinal purposes.

Yes, perhaps, but they are still eating babies. You dont see us going to war with japan over their whale studies, yet millions are donated to the sea shepard whale conservists.

It's still very, very, VERY dodgy. It the same breath we cannot call every exposure of such disgusting acts propaganda.

Call it what you will, it is still an important issue. One that any decent human being would want stopped.

As horrible as this sounds, I wouldn't put it past them, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

But the above part I don't believe is true as microwaves kill bacteria, that's one reason why so many foods are irradiated before they reach the grocery shelves.

The practice of eating placenta has several benefits especially for the mother. This is done in many societies, in the West and in Europe without any taboos.

The issue is eating another persons flesh, to a point similar to drinking human milk, in a close family that is not objectionable and people should have the freedom to do whatever they like with their own bodies.

Now when profits, commercial interests and considerations about the safety of others get into the picture then it is something that a society must decide if it is acceptable. A society is ultimately defined by the rules it imposes.

I know but have you ever seen a fresh popped placenta? Absolutely disgusting!!! I really dont see anything wrong with any of this its a good way to not waste it but I think I will stick to real food

Aborted babies aren't really human, after all...

Since it's basically just a GROWTH if the mother says that it's not a human... then it's like, a natural resource...

I don't see why this is making people upset...

the Chinese have also always been known to consume human placentas. It has something to do with increasing either their blood cells or improving their bloodflow or something. This doesn't not at all surprise me though. The number of babies killed every year in China is astronomical! Some statistics put it at 12million or more. I can just imagine that they have tried to find different things to do with the bodies rather than destroying them. It's very sad but unfortunatly, very believable!

Yes I have, I do not find it disgusting, it is an organ. For those that have not see it it is similar to a pig or cow lung (visually) but the consistency is more like a kidney. Lung is something that we rarely see and rarely eat. (It is a cheap part of the animal that you can feed your dogs.)

The advantage I have read about is that the placenta is filled not only with important nutrients but also hormones. There is some literature that states that it is a good way to avoid depression after birth (to the mother).

Wikipedia state more or less the same even if that is negated without scientific verification Placentophagy.
