5 May 2012 OBAMA RALLY - The Supporters - Romney Campaign LIE EXPOSED

Brietbart and Drudge have been pumping this lie to all the MSM outlets;
"OBAMA LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN IN EMPTY ARENA"

The photo they dubbed "Obama fail"

Barack Obama launched his campaign in unspectacular fashion today at Ohio State University, the largest college in the crucial swing state. A photo posted to twitter by Mitt Romney's campaign spokesman Ryan Williams reveals sparse attendance. The above image, according to Williams, was taken during the President's first official campaign speech.

THE LIE:
What's not being said is that the photos they used to claim the stadium was "empty", were taken prior to the start of the rally, before everyone attending was seated.

Now that more photos taken by attendees are surfacing we can see what a media spin Brietbart, Drudge and Romney put on this:

5 May 2012 OBAMA RALLY - The Supporters - Romney Campaign LIE EXPOSED

Here is the picture of the “empty” arena:

Here is a picture of Obama taking the stage at 1:20 PM ET:

Here is a view of the upper bowl that the right didn’t want you to see:

By comparing the first two photographs, we can see two things that prove that picture of Obama “failure” was taken before the event began. Notice that the crawler between the lower and upper bowls is blank in the first photograph, but once event began, the crawler/scoreboard featured a blue Obama/Biden logo. Secondly, check out the lighting in the first photograph.

If you look closely, you can see the shadows cast by the people standing on floor. The lighting likely wasn’t at full power, in other words the stage lighting is not on. As anyone who has ever been to a concert knows, the stage lights aren’t turned on until an act takes the stage. The house lights, which are the lights beneath the retired jersey banners, are used pre-event, post-event, and during intermissions. The photo was likely taken before the event because the people in the first photo are looking towards the stage. There also people in the stands, and there aren’t any visible people moving or heading for the exits. It looks like the crowd is waiting for the event to start, which suggests that President Obama wasn’t even on stage at the time the photograph was taken. Drudge and Breitbart’s evidence is a photograph that was taken when Obama wasn’t speaking.

The Columbus Fire Department states that more than 14,000 people attended the rally at Schottenstein Arena. While a modest number of Obama's standard this is still a sizable crowd in an arena that normally seats 18,300.

This is yet another case of right-wing blog sites like Drudge and Breitbart making outright lies about Obama, and using selective photographs to skew a story.

By anyone who isn't a ditto head or Fox "News" viewer, 14,000 in an 18,300 seat arena = 76.5% capacity.

I'm glad the Obama and Romney camps are fighting.

I hope they expose all of the lies. All of them.

Fight! Fight! Fight!

That upper deck looks pretty empty in both the video and the one smaller still.

The Obama campaign is getting that icy cold numb feeling from the waist down.
That feeling of total helplessness.
Almost like sleep paralysis – you’re awake, but you can’t move a muscle !

The crowd did seem agitated though.
....fibrillating
....palpitating

The football is losing its' bounce.

I wonder what people are looking at and seem to be clapping and smiling ?

The photo actually may have been snapped during the speech......maybe.

Sadly Romney doesn't have a clear message, the only message he has is Bomb Iran and Start a war with Russia or other countries.

Spreading McDonald to them.

The real question is "What were they giving away to get that many people to attend?"

All Romney needs to do is show up. Obama is that bad.

Except that when Romney shows up, he can barely get 300 people to attend his rallies.

F&S for the OP.

Thanks for exposing another episode of the lies being perpetrated by the radical right wing movement. Just goes to show that they will go to any length in their attempt to portray the President in a negative light.

Lies like this will only come back to haunt them in the future with devastatingly negative effects. You know what they say; "What goes around, comes around." I truly believe that it was the stress of constantly perpetuating such lies that caused Brietbarts' heart to give out at such an early age. I really think that he literally brought it on himself.

well, it looks like he feels that way, his campaign is making a colossal mistake so far, harping on 2009 instead of making a clear statement on how he can make things better

it's a tough spot though, getting 50% of the vote when you represent 10% of the people

I honestly feel a lot of voters are more scared of putting the vulture capitalist in charge of the fed's chicken coop and our tax policy than giving a radical 4 more years. at least there are checks and balances on the radical

Huh? That pic the Romney campaign was taken prior to the events but judging from that video that arena is about as packed as the pic shows. The balcony seating is almost non existent, except for one corner. Is anyone shocked the Romney campaign is misleading people? They have proven to do so, poorly, these past few days. But you Obama fans have nothing to worry about from Romney, he can never beat Obama heads up.

And to be fair to the Drudge Report, their headline ends with a question mark

OBAMA CAMPAIGN LAUNCH IN HALF EMPTY STADIUM?

These people either a. Dont have computers, B. Watch too much TV C. Voted for Obama instead of his policy's. Let us not forget, Hitler was a popular guy because of his charismatic character and the change he promised.
