Who in Detroit would go to a Romney event

Apparently not the voters - they'll be at the Obama event!

Okay, this is silly and I'm not fighting for the sake of fighting. I come back to share one thing, and make a point that isn't particularly personal to any one person. First....

Lost energy?

The crowds at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center were screaming enthusiastically, waving signs and chanting “Four more years! Four more years!”

But the arena did not reach its full capacity of 18,300, with about 4,000 of those seats remaining unfilled. Observers of the 2008 race know that the first Obama campaign would have been able to fill every seat.

But the crowds at both OSU and VCU were more enthusiastic than any so far at a Romney rally. And while the Republican Party has joyfully pointed out that the Obama campaign isn’t generating the same excitement that it did in 2008, the only campaign that has gotten more than 5,000 folks to show up is Ron Paul's, not Romney's.
Source

That isn't Fox News, The Blaze or PJ Media. That is MSNBC. Home of reporters who get tingles up their legs when the President speaks.

My point is this...

Now we can't be reaching a point here where people have to question the wisdom of sharing stories that are carried by a large number of media outlets to various degrees and levels of focus. Al Jazeera reports the crowd itself at 18,000....by the way. Accuracy isn't the strongest thing by anyone, all the way around. The OP didn't report anything out of what the media was and neither did I. If errors were there, it's a night and event where errors are all over the media and no one at ATS is pulling a paycheck or carrying the Press ID card to take the blame on investigative accuracy....above that of the national media.

Welcome to Election 2012.
(Unless something really new comes up here... goodnight
):

Since when do we call an arena at 76.5% capacity "empty"? Let's not ignore this is a red state, Ohio, and let's not forget Obama's other weekend appearance in Virginia, which was at full capacity (8,000 people); Obama launches 2nd term bid at boisterous Va. rally; calls Romney ‘rubber stamp’ of House GOP The Ohio rally was 14,000 strong, yet the MSM wants to downplay it by calling it an empty stadium, based on early photos from a Romney campaigner and sent to Brietbart and Drudge, but the rally was anything but weak.

Breitbart.comm is just living in utter denial, desperately hoping no one will actual look at the attendance figures of the Ohio rallies, but all they're doing is highlighting just how pathetic Romney is in comparison to him. At least Ron Paul can hold his own, and he would certainly be the best GOP challenger for Obama in 2012. Romney? Won't even come close, unless the mainstream GOPpers (Rove, et.al.) resort to their usual bag of tricks.

Ford Field is in Detroit.

Who in Detroit would go to a Romney event

The picture says it all! LOVE it. Breitbart.com seems to be an official ultraconservative medium adulated by Romney it just can't be an objective source of information. I'm pretty sure Obama's supporters have ran away as he is the puppet of the devil but this article seems to be just another pack of lies. (about a liar so...not such a big deal
)

Peace

Maybe supporters got scared ?
(Or woke up !)

Obama supporters were "informed" of Sherrod Brown court restraining order !

Today, Brown and Obama campaigned together at Ohio State University's Schottenstein Center. According to sources close to Breitbart News, conservative activists papered cars outside the arena with excerpts of the aforementioned restraining order as well as yesterday's Breitbart News report. Larke Brown's motion asked the court to stop Sherrod from “harassing, including telephone harassment, annoying, interfering with or doing bodily harm to this Plaintiff at her residence or elsewhere.” Shapiro drew attention to the irony of Obama choosing to launch his campaign with Brown in the midst of the alleged "War on Women."

In case anybody's interested, here's the highlights of the speech itself.

Not much details on issues however.

He seems nervous and "not quite sure" about something ...

He has that same old "stern" look on his face too.

Romneys crowd looks more like we would call a coffee klatch here in the great white north....
Ive seen PTA meetings draw a bigger crowd..............
As far as the Obama rally, the man ia washed up i believe.....he and his party are not ready for the backlash thats a commin.
They seem bissfully unaware that the entire nation is pointing fingers at this administration for the outright lies, and the obfuscations as well as the broken promises......
If we dont get a state of eemergency by november I believe Ron paul may just be the man in the white house come christmas.....

Thanks for posting that video - it further PROVES that the arena upper seating was nearly full. Compare that video to the image being flaunted over at Breitbart of an "empty" arena. Just makes Breitbart and Drudge look like that much bigger a liar.

Looks like the MSM declaring this arena "empty" owe someone an explanation - maybe they're letting Romney operatives dictate the tone of political coverage...? Maybe Romney and the right can get away with their lies about Ron Paul and his supporters, but I don't think they'll have as easy a time with Obama.

This thread should be labeled a hoax or the OP required to correct the title. The arena was 70% full which is not by anyone's judgment would be considered an empty arena.

ATS staff this is on you. If you let people put up obvious lies without correcting them, then this site has become exactly what we are here fighting against.

I defend Obama in these threads, but most probably won't be voting for him. Truth is my only quest as there are no valid solutions until the truth is identified.

5 May 2012 OBAMA RALLY - The Supporters - Romney Campaign LIE EXPOSED

Brietbart and Drudge have been pumping this lie to all the MSM outlets;
"OBAMA LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN IN EMPTY ARENA"

The photo they dubbed "Obama fail". What's missing? The banner lighting and stage lighting, and later videos and photos show these exact same seats in the upper tier nearly full.

Barack Obama launched his campaign in unspectacular fashion today at Ohio State University, the largest college in the crucial swing state. A photo posted to twitter by Mitt Romney's campaign spokesman Ryan Williams reveals sparse attendance. The above image, according to Williams, was taken during the President's first official campaign speech.

THE LIE:
What's not being said is that the photos they used to claim the stadium was "empty", were taken prior to the start of the rally, before everyone attending was seated.

Now that more photos taken by attendees are surfacing we can see what a media spin Brietbart, Drudge and Romney put on this:

Here is the picture of the “empty” arena:

Here is a picture of Obama taking the stage at 1:20 PM ET:

Here is a view of the upper bowl that the right didn’t want you to see:

By comparing the first two photographs, we can see two things that prove that picture of Obama “failure” was taken before the event began. Notice that the crawler between the lower and upper bowls is blank in the first photograph, but once event began, the crawler/scoreboard featured a blue Obama/Biden logo. Secondly, check out the lighting in the first photograph.

If you look closely, you can see the shadows cast by the people standing on floor. The lighting likely wasn’t at full power, in other words the stage lighting is not on. As anyone who has ever been to a concert knows, the stage lights aren’t turned on until an act takes the stage. The house lights, which are the lights beneath the retired jersey banners, are used pre-event, post-event, and during intermissions. The photo was likely taken before the event because the people in the first photo are looking towards the stage. There also people in the stands, and there aren’t any visible people moving or heading for the exits. It looks like the crowd is waiting for the event to start, which suggests that President Obama wasn’t even on stage at the time the photograph was taken. Drudge and Breitbart’s evidence is a photograph that was taken when Obama wasn’t speaking.

The Columbus Fire Department states that more than 14,000 people attended the rally at Schottenstein Arena. While a modest number by Obama's standard this is still a sizable crowd in an arena that normally seats 18,300.

This is yet another case of right-wing blog sites like Drudge and Breitbart making outright lies about Obama, and using selective photographs to skew a story.

By anyone who isn't a ditto head or Fox "News" viewer, 14,000 in an 18,300 seat arena = 76.5% capacity.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Saturday was supposed to be President Barack Obama’s day, dominated by headlines of successful campaign holding its first rally. Instead, reports prominently included references to thousands of empty seats at the president’s first rally here — just as the Romney campaign wanted it.

ABC News had reported Saturday morning that the campaign expected “overflow” crowds at each event, crowds which never did materialize.

Why can't you guys just admit that FOX, Drudge, Breitbart lies? What good does it do to pretend otherwise? Honestly it's just like the Republican race for nomination, what good does it do to stand against Obama if what you're standing there with is CRAP? The left is breaking with Obama and the media, maybe it's time you guys broke with the GOP and the media? It's all garbage.

That's wasn't very nice...I did.

Joined by his wife, Michelle, Obama addressed a boisterous crowd of 14,000 in the 20,000 seat Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University, the first official campaign event in what portends to be an expensive and rancorous fight against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Twitter was abuzz with photos and comments about vast areas of empty seats in the arena’s upper deck.

Noting that the Obama campaign had predicted an "overflow crowd," Williams said, "This arena was not full so the president failed to meet the bar his campaign set."

I wonder where the pic being buzzed about, came from. That was your source at the Columbus Dispatch.
