This is HUGE breaking news. According to the Republican Party rules, NO DELEGATE can be bound... so any delegate who say... wants to vote for Ron Paul... can.

I know there has been a lot of questions on this and I didn't know until just now when I watched this:

RULE NO. 38
Unit Rule
No delegate or alternate delegate shall be bound by any attempt of any state or Congressional district to impose the unit rule.

RNC rules

See video for better explanation of rule. Correct me if he (and me now for posting this) is wrong.

Considering Ron Paul is picking up delegates left and right which are supposedly "bound" to Romney... this might be a major upset come Tampa Republican National Convention.

Paul is winning states, and delegates left and right. If this is true those "bound delegates" which are Ron Paul supporters don't even have to vote for Romney in the first round!

This thing is farrrrrrrr from over folks.

Go Ron Paul!!!!

Its not about changing positions...

Romney only has a big money campaign (air force) as some people have put it on the MSM. Basically Romney is buying his way in.

Ron Paul has a huge ground force of real people. These people are active on the ground becoming delegates, and taking over chair positions and even state positions.

This could be the key which swings things to paul come the Tampa convention.

I am worried for Ron . He has been rather vocal against the Federal Reserve and that's a no no ! Calling for an Audit of the consortium of 12 privately owned banks that makes up what we call the Federal Reserve that's tied to the World Bank also owned by the same bunch is going to make some big people mad . The fact that he is discredited by the major news companies tells me that he is not a Bilderberg member. You gotta play by big moneys rules or you don't play at all .

If I new nothing else about him this would be enough for me to vote for Ron Paul...

Thankfully it only gets better from there!

It seems to be black and white that delegates can not be bound according to the National Convention regardless of what the state conventions say.

There has been a lot of debate with no one able to quote a hard and fast rule on ATS that i've seen so far... this seems to be the first rule one way or the other I've seen... and thankfully it is they can vote however they want.

With Paul winning huge over the last few weeks this means that the Paul delegates can vote for him even in the first round!

Want to know why I believe Paul can have the Presidency at the end of the day?

..because Romney delegates will leave and go Paul, but Paul delegates wont leave to go Romney.

And Obama wouldnt stand a chance against Paul.

If the MSM was smart, they would stop backing Romney, eventhough they spent too much money to turn back now.

Yes Ron does seem to be the only true red blooded American running . Still I do believe Obama will go back in because he was groomed by Kissinger a big time Bilderberger and owned by George Soros a card carrying Socialist/ Communist . Big money makes the electronic voting machines .

I beg to differ. Romney has won far more States than any other candidate, Santorum and Gingrich voters will also most likely go for Romney as opposed to Paul. Romney gained 4 times as many votes as Paul did, and the majority of the delegates will not go against the will of those voters. Given the Paul propaganda here we're all led to believe that those voters for Romney are irrelevant, but they are not.

Romney has won a lot of delegates according to straw poll, but now that the caucuses are being held Ron Paul is winning the actual delegates that will goto Tampa Republican National Convention. Ron Paul has already won over 5 states on delegate count so he's now in the convention.

It's all about the delegates, and Ron Paul is winning actual delegates right now...

There are bound, and unbound delegates, Paul is winning many of both, so those delegate counts the MSM keep touting are wrong!

Absolutely, Ron Paul delegates will never vote for anyone else.

Also some of the "bound delegates" are actually Ron Paul delegates, so if this thread is correct then they don't even have to vote for Romney in round one!

Your absolutely correct, and if I understand some of what I've been reading on ATS, the votes will goto Spain before they are reported... so they can change them.

We need to get all the globalist puppets out of office, they are literally killing our nation!!!

You need to understand the process - its likely a HUGE number of Romney delegates are Paul supporters. Ron Paul has all but locked up the grass roots of the party and the delegate selection process.

Romney has very little actual delegate support, but he is 'leading' due to state rules on bound delegates. If those rules come into question and can be over turned he will drop out before Tampa because he will have almost no support.

This cuts both ways - as of this time people who dont support Romney are being forced to vote for him. To take one example; In Florida Romney got 46% of the popular vote yet he has 100% of the delegates bound to him. This means that the majority of Floridians are not being properly represented.

To put this in wider perspective, Romney has around 40% of the popular vote across the entire country but 70% of the delegates due to binding and winner take all. Basically the popular vote is not a driver of who gets nominated whether Romney wins or Paul wins.

If Paul wins, through forcing the unbinding of delegates at least America will be represented correctly by the people who really know the issues and are willing to fight for their cause - not the millions of people across the country who are more interested in the X Factor.

If the bound delegate rules are overturned, then Romney loses a huge swathe of his delegates around the country and can not win. He would not get the 1144 votes required in round 1.

In round 2 he has zero chance - because most of his own delegates are Paul supporters, and they will simply flip to Paul in round 2.

Romney's entire campaign now rests on the RNC breaking its own rules and forcing the unit rule onto states where Romney support is actually in the minority

Very interesting information. It's obvious that Romney is scared, which means Paul is still a threat, regardless of what the msm says. If Paul is still a threat, there is something to his strategy of delegate collecting. Amongst other reasons, I want him to win the required number of delegates for the egg on the face of Romney and the msm. Especially for the fact that this has been rigged from the start.

If the delegates can abstain or vote to their hearts content then this is good news for the Paul camp

Makes every single delegate they pick up more important than the one before.

thanks for the thread Praze. S&F.

But the "real people" have elected the delegates in the full knowledge & expectation that their man will vote the way they want them to vote ... i.e. for Romney.

Any deviation from that, to the extent of the deviation, is a cynical, crude & calculated subversion of democracy.

Starred and flagged. But I have a question:

Are the delegates themselves aware of this rule, or has it been obfuscated; do they know they are not bound?

Oh they know.

some delegates are friends and are sharing this information around... plus they are not stupid... they know what they're doing.
