imagine for a second that the white folks would have had assimilated with native americans?
yeah, we might not have had a smart phone now, and we would have had our share of wars (although in a slightly different way), but we wouldn't have to worry about the planet spitting us out for trying to destroy it and ourselves

Yeah well we dont hunt for our food any longer. Those days went the way of the Conastoga wagon. You want to go back to the old world where there were no lights no electricity no modern conveniences just because it worked for 12,000 years? Modern times is a very small fraction of the time that man has occupied this planet. Yes man survived those times but life expectancy was much shorter, life was much harder. We used to live in caves. Do you think we should go back to that because modern life is too hard ? Not me. I think its useless to go backwards. Failure to assimilate is failure to grow. Mankind is a forward moving creature. A manipulator of his environment. entrophy is death

A good many did assimilate with the natives. At least in Quebec.

1668 ~ Of all the Natives of North America, the Ojibwa hae to have been the most accomodating race of peoples. They provided food, clothing and shelter when needed. They provided protection from the Sioux and Iroquois. The provided their daughters in marriage and accepted the Mixed Blood as brothers. They preceded the French, acting as buffers or middlemen in exploration and fur trade. They would give of their land in treaty after treaty.
1680 ~ The French plan was to Frenchify the Indians but were horrified to discover that about 40% of the young men were disappearing into the woods with their Indian wives.
Louis XIV decreed that the first offense of being a Coureur des Boise (a trapper) without a permit is flogging, a second offense was branding with the Fleur de Lys, and a third offense was life in the galleys. This policy was not successful and the Coureur des Boise were continually blamed for corrupting morals, disorderliness with the native women and above all, that they openly displayed the kind of free spirit that was naturally associated with bad behavior. It is noteworthy that they only wanted freedom, and democratic rule like the savages enjoyed.
Break ~
Unfortunately the ruling elite of that era and even right up until today aren't all that fond of freedom and democratic rule, so the whites who did assimilate were treated horrendously. But the native peoples had and still have a great deal of wisdom to share. If we would listen to them.

A lot of people saying the word Indian towards Native Americans and/or Native Canadians.
What some people may be ignorant to is the fact that Natives do not like that term and many people consider it racist.

I'm all for this. I was born here in the US but I know this land is originally the property of the Natives.America represents immigrants living on stolen land and know seeing how the US is crumbling left & right I see it as karma.
The US should give giant tracts of land back to the Natives. I have some Native friends and they are good people.

That's a lot of land for the 3 American Indians that still exist.

Screw their land.... they got casinos all over the place and reservations, with their own laws and governments. Plus each of them getting 3k+ a month seems like this should never be brought up again.... Someone needs to snatch the land right back from under their feet. Greedy indians
