Children today are oppressed? Yeah, right. Darned 10 year old kids with their iPhones and unlimited texting and data plans, all unhappy because they are so oppressed! Kids today are far from "oppressed" in any way.

I agree that parenting should override the education system hands down, but there is a catch.

Your children are in the care of the "system" for 8 hours a day, by the time that kids are in school, walk home, hang out with friends, etc,. there is a small window for parenting. There is a reason that the school system was fought against, and that was that people understood that indoctrination was by far #1 in the re-education of the young minds of your children.

How can parents be part of their child's upbringing, if their child is removed from home as early as 3 yrs old? The overhauling of the education system would have to begin with the age that children are removed from their parents care, and taken into head start (how funny is that?, what head start are they getting?).

Until parents realize that school is not for learning, but from parental control being enforced by authority figures, there is no getting better.

BTW, I currently live in the mid west, and was told by a neighbor, who's kids are in school that attendance is now taken with a number that is called that is assigned to the children. When their number is called they are to stand and yell present!!
