Armored gunman, 4 people dead in Arizona shooting

Sad, but considering that this guy was somewhat of a politic figure and the claims of cartel involvement there really needs to be a serious investigation into this. Because this case was pretty much opened and shut with lightning speed and the MSM was running with the same copy+paste articles within hours after this happened makes me raise an eyebrow.

I, too, would love to see the facebook claims of cartel involvement investigated. Or even substantiated. Because all they are is rumor, totally contradicted by eyewitness accounts.

Unless, again, you think the entire neighborhood and police department are in on the conspiracy.

JT was killed by the cartels as he was a thorn in their side.
The others killed were just there to make it look like his spree.
Other good men have been done this way before and will again.

well, what's odd to me is that he's standing right in front of 4 cops.. and I'm SURE they would have asked him for his permit.. and gave him the 'once-over-twice..' questioning..

so, if he does have a permit to carry an AR-15, and of all things-in public, he's either really telling the truth of who he is / what he represents or .. it's a fake video.

I can't speak to anyone here.. but, EVEN if i do have a permit to carry such a weapon, I can't just tote it on my shoulder down the street here in the PNW without having a #-storm of cops/SWAT surround me in seconds~! This is NOT an open carry state that i live in and even then, open carry would be more of a handgun .. not an assault weapon

Updated at 1:22 a.m. ET: A man equipped with several firearms and body armor killed four people, including a toddler, on Wednesday in Gilbert, Ariz., authorities told azcentral.com. They believe he then killed himself.

J. T. Ready, a neo-Nazi and member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, was among the dead, according to azcentral.com. It is unclear what role he played in the shootings. Unnamed police sources identified Ready as the gunman, azcentral.com reported.

Sergeant Bill Balafas told msnbc.com that he could not confirm whether Ready was even among the dead or if the crime was a murder-suicide. He said police are still identifying the dead.

"There were a few weapons in the house and we don't know if there was a gun battle or if it was a murder-suicide," Balafas said.

The shooting took place after 1 p.m.

At a briefing for reporters, Balafas said all the evidence points to the shooting being related to domestic violence. He didn't elaborate.

Two handguns and a shotgun were recovered from the crime scene. Balafas said investigators had obtained a search warrant Wednesday evening and a bomb squad was sweeping the house for precautionary reasons.

Authorities said a search of the home and positive identification of the bodies were pending as police wait for a federal agency to remove unknown chemicals and munitions from inside and outside of the home for officer safety.

FBI spokesman Manuel Johnson said federal agents were at the scene "providing personnel and technical assistance" to Gilbert police, but that the police department was the lead agency.

Down the street from where the shooting took place, neighbor Lieselotte Senge said she heard a loud boom around 1 p.m. and stepped out onto her stoop to see where it came from.

“All of a sudden I saw all of the police cars,” Senge told msnbc.com. They were in the garage of a woman who Senge said had a daughter and infant granddaughter.

On arrival, first responders believed the toddler, who was between one and 2-years-old, showed signs of life. She was transported to a children’s hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, Balafas said.

Law enforcement agents had been nervous about Ready, according to a 2010 story by the Associated Press. He led a militia group that focused on nabbing undocumented immigrants and drug traffickers along the Mexican border. He was also heavily armed and a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi.

“These are explicit Nazis,” Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project told the AP. “These are people who wear swastikas on their sleeves.”

In Gilbert, a city of 208,000 southeast of Phoenix, neighbor Senge watched as school children had been escorted to their homes by police officers. The shooting had taken place three doors down from her house, at a bend in the road where Tumbleweed Road becomes Monteray Street.

She said it’s a nice neighborhood of single-family homes where neighbors, apart from the occasional wave, mostly keep to themselves.

his border patrol grp was 'heavily' armed.....if so, you'd think everyone in that grp would have to be check for criminal activities.. and since they were all clean to carry......II dunno, I'm getting confused the more I try and use the logic to sort this all out.. because the logic isn't fitting..

He had a felony dropped to a misdemeanor. And that does not even count the military criminal record that got him kicked out.

Six anti-tank grenades designed to be fired from a launcher were discovered on Wednesday at the scene of a horrific Arizona mass murder-suicide, which authorities said was carried out by well known white supremacist JT Ready.

The discovery helped expand the probe of the killings to the federal level and has led investigators with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to begin looking into how Ready was able to obtain the illegal explosives, according to ATF special agent Tom Mangan.

Mangan described the bombs as 40mm armor-piercing projectile grenades, the same type used by the U.S. military in combat. The grenades are generally fired from some sort of launcher, but Mangan said no such weapon was found at the scene.

Along with the grenades, investigators also discovered pyrotechnic and military style flares. But Mangan said the grenades were what investigators were most interested in.

Because the explosives were military grade, investigators called in bomb technicians from Luke Air Force Base, located west of Phoenix. The bomb techs ended up destroying the grenades at a nearby facility.

There was also two 50 gallon drums removed. They guessed it was Acetone and water.

That combination to me for some reason says gold plating of brass? Did he use gold coins or other forms of gold as payments? If so they better check out what they have!

I cannot seem to explain that.
Something else I cannot explain is the many other BOOMS that must have taken place and nobody heard.
Three separate adults killed, and not as much as a peep.
Of course the baby could not simply run away so that would be an easy target.
A baby is something that has t be the hardest to kill, even a deranged %$#@.
This smacks of vendetta.
There are still many thing that just cannot be explained.
I think I also read that there was feds there for the investigation, why?

There is no possible way the media had any information on the scene in there immediately after it happening....they have no way of knowing what happened until information is released to them.

Ready had a history of violence going back to the 1990s. He was arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon in 1992 and then court-martialed twice while in the Marine Corps in 1996. He was discharged after being found guilty of conspiracy, assault, and wrongful solicitation and advice. After failing to win a bid for the Arizona House of Representatives in 2004, Ready made headlines for firing a pistol at a Latino man while running for Mesa City Council in March 2006. His candidacy ended when an attempt to become master of ceremonies at the Mesa Veteran’s Day parade when his his courts-martial were revealed.

Really? You think your politics have any bearing on this issue?

You might want to study the statistics on abusive spouses who escalate violence, political affiliations of mass murderers, people with mental problems, etc. Believe it or not there is no predominance of left vs. right wing in the people who commit these types of acts.

I can give you example after example of mass murders carried out in extremely liberal countries with very strict gun controls or even outright gun bans. People have used knives, baseball bats, poison, fire and even toxic gases.

Apparently this moron did not have a felony conviction so despite being "someone of interest" to local law enforcement he was legally able to purchase and carry a firearm. What I don't understand is why his gun ownership rights were not curtailed after his lengthy history of domestic violence and stalking incidents. Then again, until someone can be convicted of physically attacking you the boundaries between stalking and going to jail are very, very wide. I had a problem with a female stalker for a couple of years and the police, prosecutor's office, etc refused to do anything. They said all they could do was make note of it in case I turned up dead so they'd know who to go talk to.

I hate to do this but I also have to blame his girlfriend. She knew he was an abuser, allowed him to abuse herself and her kids for years and not only did basically nothing about it, she chose to wait and take action at the worst possible time putting herself and everyone else in the house in danger (and ultimately got everyone killed).

I've seen too many women who are willing to be abused and allow their children to witness the abuse and be abused themselves. Any relationship with domestic violence in it has the potential to escalate into a murder / suicide scenario, especially when the abuser collects military weapons and is a member of a neo nazi group. Hell, she was half Latino and he attacked her for that which says all kinds of things about the mental condition of both of these people. I'm sure many will disagree but I have to assign a small percentage of blame for this incident to the woman who chose to keep this man around. As often as these things happen it seems no one learns from it, however.

It would be nice and easy to assign all the blame to his "right wing" leanings. In reality, choosing to join certain groups and take certain interests were a manifestation of his illness. Being a Republican didn't make him that way. Pushing the right wing / left wing thing into this is putting the cart before the horse.

And, just for the record - the Nazi party was founded on left wing, socialists ideas. The modern variants are corrupted in specific ways vs. the original but just thought I should point that out. A lot of bad ideas you think would be rooted in right wing politics actually come from the left.
