Israel Building Security Wall Along Lebanese Border
Israel National News -- First Publish: 4/30/2012, 4:26 PM

Israel is building a wall in a sensitive area on it's border with Lebanon.

The story says the purpose is to protects against sniper fire.

There is coordination with UNIFIL (the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) and the Lebanese army.

Israel began building a wall that will run several kilometers along part of its border with Lebanon, a military spokeswoman told Agence France Presse on Monday.

"This construction, which began on Monday, is being carried out in coordination with UNIFIL (the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) and the Lebanese army. The wall is intended to avoid frictions on the border," she said.

Israeli public radio said the wall, which is expected to be several meters high, will protect the city of Metulla from sniper fire coming from the Lebanese border town of Kfar Kila.

The project, which was first announced in January, is expected to last several weeks and is being coordinated with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, or UNIFIL, and the Lebanese army, according to reports.

Israel and Lebanon are technically at war but military officers from the two sides meet regularly under the auspices of UNIFIL to coordinate security along their joint border.

Israel is also building walls in other areas too.

The Israeli West Bank barrier is a separation barrier (see "Names of the barrier") being constructed by the State of Israel along and within the West Bank. Upon completion, the barrier’s total length will be approximately 760 kilometres (470 mi) (twice the length of the 1949 Armistice Line (Green Line) between the West Bank and Israel)[citation needed]. The barrier is a fence with vehicle-barrier trenches surrounded by an on average 60 metres (200 ft) wide exclusion area (90% of its length), and an 8 metres (26 ft) tall concrete wall (10% of its length).[1] The barrier is built mainly in the West Bank and partly along the 1949 Armistice line, or "Green Line" between Israel and Palestinian West Bank. 12% of the West Bank area is on the Israel side of the barrier

The Israel and Egypt − Gaza Strip barrier is a separation barrier first constructed by Israel in 1994 between the Gaza Strip and Israel. An addition to the barrier was finished in 2005 to separate the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

The fence runs along the entire land border of the Gaza Strip.[1] It is made up of wire fencing with posts, sensors and buffer zones on lands bordering Israel, and concrete and steel walls on lands bordering Egypt.

See, you can post an OP like this, and mention that the LEBANESE ARMY and the UN are helping out... and Israel are still going to be treated like the bad guys.

...go figure.
Usually when a country builds something with the neighbouring country's cooperation, you'd think it would be a non-issue.

Solution to the world's problems...wall yourself in your own prison. You should see what they did to Bethlehem, it's an open air prison. Those palestinian christians won't be threatening anyone now or blowing people up with their suicide vests
.

Fighting terrorists is all fine and well but if you want to stop them, you take out what creates the terrorists, their religion. Brute force never works, you gotta take them apart from the inside out. It may take 1000 years but there will come a day when there will be no Islam.
