i know this guy doesnt speak for all religious people but im sure he thinks he will enter "heaven", and his followers probably believe the same thing.

why does religion preach such hatred against other humans?

thank "GOD" he decided to take back his words.

Pft. I hate to spoil your fantasy but there's more nonreligious haters out there than religious. You're one of them.

He said it was a joke, sadly we can neither take him at his word or joke anymore, fair enough. The statement was retracted because these comments are not Christian. Jesus taught that Christians were to love the people of the world as He did
Dont mistake one mans mistake for Christian teaching, thats foolish.

With alldue respect I really don't think this guy meant this literally. Two minutes after he said it he said that you shouldn't be homophobic and you should show them love. This church is right down the road from me, and he has the reputation of being a fairly liberal baptist preacher. I personally think he jut slipped up and it got blown way out of proportion.

i dont hate religion. i hate people who tell their kids to abuse them because they think they might be gay.

there are many christians i totally repect, and many of them are in my family.
im just getting sick of the hate being preached by some , in the name of god.

i just want to understand it. abusing your kids because you think they might be gay is nothing to joke about.
especially in a church .

Here are some religions that are anti-violent in their scriptures: Buddhism, Taoism, Jainism, Sikhism, and I THINK but not completely sure about Confucianism and Hinduism...

Yes, The what is written in The Bible (especially Leviticus) is violent, but that does not mean that all religions are violent.

By the way, the Christians that ARE violent, of course they are ignoring the peaceful teachings because they are just using The Bible for justification. Even without religion people will still be violent they just won't be able to hide behind The Bible.

By the way, Homophobia even exists in Japan, a very secular country. Some atheists can be homophobic, they just aren't able to hide behind the bible.

I heard this on talk radio.

A couple of the radio call-ins stated - - this is NO JOKE. They were victims of "beat the gay" out of you - - by family members. And that practice continues to this day.

You can hear members of the congregation saying: "Amen" to what this preacher is saying.

You DO NOT retract words like these - - - and say you were just joking.

When a pastor speaks, he is supposed to be directed by the holy spirit. Maybe god does hate gays? The WBC is right?
