Is one of the world's most iconic superheroes really a gay man? Action Comics writer Grant Morrison, who is best known for revamping DC Comics'
family of Batman titles, spoke at length about comic superheroes in an interview with Playboy magazine, confirming maybe those Batman and Robin rumors
aren't so far-fetched after all, because the title character is "very, very gay."
"He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant," Morrison told the magazine. "Gayness is
built into Batman. I’m not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There’s just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional
character he’s intended to be heterosexual, but the
basis of the whole concept is utterly gay."
In fact, Morrison adds, Batman's "gayness" is actually part of the character's near-universal appeal: "I think that’s why people like it. All these
women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn’t care -- he’s more interested in hanging out
with the old guy and the kid."
The obvious was not so obvious in my eyes for years. Since Batman is one of my favorite superheros from the days of my childhood this is some major
news to me.
If you look at all the stories with that info afterwards it is like watching a new movie / reading a new book (kind of). Even if the directors /
writers wasn´t aware of Buttmans .. oh sorry
... Batmans background.
Anyway, I know few gay people and I don´t give a s*it about your sexual preferences if you don´t harm other people.
What do you think about it?
Please be nice. Thanks and have a great day!
