Scandalizing historians with its blithe disregard for the historical record, this American Civil War docudrama poses the theory that President Lincoln's Secretary of War, Edward Stanton, was behind a plot to kill him at Ford's Theater. His motive was his opposition to Lincoln's adamant refusal to allow the North to punish the South for its actions. The "official" assassination goes awry when another would-be assassin, the second-rate actor John Wilkes Booth, learns of the plot and decides to beat the government to the punch, for reasons of his own. In the movie, it is Stanton's assassin who is mistakenly captured and killed, rather than Booth.

This piece of conspiracy needs to be left in the "who knows" vaults. There is no way to verify any evidence or first hand accounts.

It's been over a century, anyone with real info are long gone now.

The only reason to bring this topic up is to relate to current events, you know the saying, "history repeats itself". Even that standpoint holds no grounds in this day in age when everything is recorded on video, gps locations and lets face it, higher populations.

Lets leave it at the fact he died because he didn't assimilate to what the owners wanted.

Fair?

Why are all these 'theories' leaving out the Green back and the banksters from the picture. Follow the money.

Lol so typical. The north brought the slaves over, got the south to use them, then tried to prosecute them for it. And the real villian escapes unscathed.

Lincoln was a great man.
