Watch this video and tell me it couldn't be faked.

Thanks, I really enjoyed that video
I was surprised at how some of the images seemed to have shadows as they moved across the buildings and "behind" openings. The angels or whatever at the beginning seemed fake (along with the flowers on the sidewalk) because you could see the detail of the buildings behind them, but a lot of the rest of it looked very cool and very convincing

Love the video. Disney projects an amazing show on Cinderella's Castle at night. The first time I saw it my jaw dropped.

Disney calls it a magic show! Indeed just about anything is possible

No way was that outside.

The sound and lighting is waaaaaaaaaay off.

Im not saying he wasnt at a military base.

What I AM saying is he wasnt OUTSIDE a military base in that video. There is no way in hell that was not digital blue screen. If you believe that I feel sorry for you.

Why do you keep pushing this notion that he was outside? He was clearly still in the same hanger he earlier addressed the troops in. It's obviously NOT going to have the same level of sound or lighting quality of a traditional studio - but that's to be expected. He's at a military base in a hanger, not the press room of the WH.

Here's another shot, you can see the two humvees he stood in front of during the speech in the back, near the top of the image.

This image was from Mark Knoller's twitter acct.; (click for bigger image)

This image is looking in the opposite direction of where the humvees were parked - look at the stage for orientation.

(full sized image at Washingtonpost.com)

The clearest image yet, it shows the vehicles, and it shows the podium and POTUS seal hanging on the wall.

(Very large full-size image is HERE)

These images should prove beyond a doubt, that he was not "green screened", or "outside" - he was in the same exact hanger used to address the troops - clearly present, and invited, troops. Somebody send these pics to Jim Hoft, as it appears he is the moron who originated this bit of doltish innuendo over at the gatewaypundit.

During the presidential address, troops were not allowed to be in the same area as the president.

Implying he was afraid to be present in front of the troops? He addressed a huge number of troops, and shook hands with a crowd of them. Go ahead and tell me this was green screen!

no not a green screen, but I assure you they all were hand picked, screened and had background checks done.

Just how are you going to assure us that what you say is true? We should just listen to your soothing voice? You somehow know that background checks were done on these people, you are soooo positive of that but really you are just saying that. You dont know anything like that happened at all. You wish this maybe, but no, you dont know that at all and so can do absolutley nothing to assure the rest of us. I can assure you that your words mean nothing.
Can you actually hear me?that's strange? So who are you to tell me I'm lying/really!!

Without going into details I have had first hand experiences in these situations.i've been to a few events to say without doubt that no one gets this close to the president without being check out first.

being military for 25 years makes me sooo positive, you need to check your tone sister,it's really not that serious I'm not out to convince anyone, especially you.In fact I wasn't addressing you in the first place.Get off your high horse pleeeezzze!

There are definitely guns in that pic. Can't you see the soldier on the far right rear with loooong rifle? And in the front, young woman looks like she has a gun holster on the right back of her pants, unless it is a radio.

The far right is McCrystal's escort. The young woman...you don't holster a weapon on your backside, it's not a weapon.

When Bush met the troops there's nary a gun in sight as well, in fact most Bush/troops pics look the same as Obama/troops pics, just a change in the cast. So the argument "the troops were disarmed" before meeting Obama is nothing more than a distraction, since the troops were disarmed before meeting Bush (jr. or sr.), Clinton, or Reagan. When I served we got into our dress uniforms to meet the brass and no one was armed, except the watches who maintain their station, but they're not participating in the parades of this sort.

Heres a video that goes to many extents to create an illusion and then breaks it at the very end.

Im pretty sure that with enough money they could do this whole walking through the trucks thing real time, my question is why they would want him to walk through the trucks to begin with? proof of his being there?

and yes i mean even with the shadow and everything. its not as hard as youd think. check this video watch the whole thing its actually pretty entertaining, if he could do this with a tiny handheld camera and no money with no schooling, imagine what they can and probably do all the time.

watch?v=r61iLSuGu3I

allthough i kinda think he's actually there, nevertheless they could do it. TRUST ME!

You and I are on the same page.

There are two issues at play in this thread.

One being folks hatred of Pres. Obama.

Two being dellusion vs. reality.

What amazes me is how often people will embrace dellusion to service thier hatred. Whatever your views, you would like to think that people would place thier intellectual dignity first.

That hatred must run deep for folks to sacrifice rational thought. I thought Pres. Bush was one of the worst POTUSs of all time and yet I still have good things to say about him. For example, he did more for the AIDs effort in Africa than any President before or after him.

Why anyone would sacrifice thier integrity, honesty and often thier ability to rationally think... for the sake any political view baffles me.

Thanks for the pics.
It is clear now that he is in a hanger and not green screened.
I knew the ssound was way off if he was to be outside.
The lighting sure does make it look fake and the sound only adds to the effect.

I do find it rather telling that the troops must disarm when the president speaks.
Whether you think it is justified or not matters not.
The fact is that it wouldn't be necessary if we lived in a country where we trusted our commander in chief as well as our government.

This is not an Obama issue.
It is not a left/right issue.
This is about the fact that even our President/Secret Service/Government is afraid.....YES AFRAID of its own military. If it weren't so, then there would be no problem with our own troops having their weapons present.

I know to a certain segment of the right wing guns are a political statement and sometimes a fashion accessory for an image. Something you wear to a rally or protest.

For well trained US soldiers serving in wars, guns are not that. They have a very different relationship with thier weapons. There is no reason to bring a rifle to a crowded hanger to see the Commander and Chief speak...the whole idea would seem strange to them. A gun is for engaging and killing the enemy...not a fasion statement, not a political statement.

The only times you see a mass of listeners waving guns around during a speech is in third world nations where untrained civilians have been recruited in mobs to go ravage a countryside.

Somewhere in your logic centers I hope the above registers with you.

I think it's just proper military decorum when assembling for the brass (especially the top brass like the CiC) that you don't bring the firearms and munitions. I'm sure the base was on heightened alert since a VIP was visiting, and it's SOP (standard operational protocol) to screen and disarm troops in the vicinity of the VIPs. Every Bush pic of him visiting the troops looks just the same - extra security around the pres. and no armed troops in his immediate presence.

You must be trolling at this point. Gee, do you suppose the flag was hung on the vehicle after the image was taken? Or was the flag supposed to have been there since the dawn of time? In fact it's a good guess the flag was a last minute addition to the humvee prior to going live on air. (Not like they ride into combat with a flag draped on their vehicle in that fashion).

Funny, I thought the reason to bring the rifle everywhere is because you might need it and you are responsible for it and who is going to watch it for you?

At chow time, one guy does not eat. He has piece watch. That is how we train. One never leaves his rifle unattended...

I agree. We have seen sane soldiers turn into madmen while maintaining their cool, then all the sudden murder people. There is no point in having 100's of soldiers with guns surrounding the president while he's speaking. It's just smart to disarm them. If none of them are offended, then we shouldn't be either.

Aside from the fact this is a boot camp souvenir photo, the reason they did that, along with marching everywhere, using crossing guards at every intersection, and carrying the colors, was all part of the drill to instill military discipline. Of course at an active forward base like Bagram they'll carry their firearms everywhere, under normal circumstances, but having the CiC/VIPs present is certainly not normal. I'm sure in this case at Bagram, the personal weapons of these soldiers were locked in the armory.

As far as your boot camp photo goes, let me ask you this - if you were inside that chow hall, while those soldiers (or in this photo's case, sailors) ate with their rifles all stacked up outside under a watch, you would not see a single firearm on them. Just like you didn't see the soldiers in the Bagram hanger armed. How is this different? You can see their weapons outside, so that obviously means the soldiers/sailors inside are UNARMED.

Well, I suppose they could do it like that. But considering they are in a pretty hot war zone, one would think they would be more vigilant, not less.

What you are suggesting is that once out of boot camp it is ok to leave your rifle somewhere?

On the ship, they do go in the armory. On shore, I would prefer to keep mine with me.

Actually on the ship they only issue weapons when needed. There are no "personal" weapons on the ship. They call away a security drill and if you are on the reaction force you go and get a 45 or a shotgun handed out the armory window, in exchange for your ID card. After the drill it must be returned. But Afghanistan is a different situation. Not like a ship.

One would think that having all those guys ready to defend you, would be a comfort. I would trust them. I would insist they be armed if I were in his place.

And, take a look at this previous post, there is an image of them unloading to take their weapons in with them to chow. Using a thing called a clearing barrel...

It's not trolling when I'm stating facts.... For all we know that stage might be sitting in your back yard with actors and props.
