Nothing has happened as of yet. I haven't seen an army of armored cars go by or black hawks with shooters flying around. Everyone seems to be working. I guess the only thing that looked desolate was my classroom. Last day of class. Of course no one wants to show up.
That's about it.

How's it look in your area?

What's supposed to happen?
I must have missed it. Nothing looks unusual around here, though.

*edit* I just saw a thread saying there are supposed to be global disruptions and to STAY HOME. Omg, my wife and daughter are out getting groceries RIGHT NOW!

I think it was suppose to be Operation Mayday or something. Everyone suppose to protest not going to work, or being late for work.

Yeah, you better run. Those things are known to euthanize people.

Well, considering that I live in B.F. Egypt (aka west Texas prairie), not a darned thing is happening. The farmers are still working, my internet is still up, and the MSM is doing a darned good job about not drawing attention to any kind of disruption.

I figured it would be a bust, either because people who are working would be afraid of losing their jobs by calling in "sick", or because we wouldn't hear a peep about it. May Day is typically associated with communist countries, so most Americans would be hesitant to jump on the "International Worker's Day" bandwagon.

Probably there may be some protesting in the larger cities, but whatcha wanna bet they won't put it on the MSM news?

Well there it is, TPTB have pre-empted that by ensuring that:
a) there are very few jobs
b) if you have one you will be so scared of losing it that you will stay quiet

It's all going so well.

I saw a Chupacabra in the alley this morning. It got chased off by my cat.

My cat's absolutely fearless.

I checked my calendar and you are right. It is May 1.

Was something supposed to happen today?

TV is on. Check
Internet is working. Check
Stock market is running. Check
My butt still itches. Check
Nothing unusual on the news. I Love Lucy and more on John Edwards. Check

Should I be changing channels?

Well I live in Portland and I doubt I would even notice a difference. There are already so many police cars constantly buzzing around. Sirens constantly go off. So if civil unrest hit my area I probably wouldnt even know

It's actually in TPTB's best interest to have people working.
When people work, they:
1) Are busy working, not a lot of idle time to contemplate
2) Are consumers, they feed the economy (i.e. the source of TPTB's wealth)
3) Are happier and more content, not looking for a cause
4) Can supply their families needs, so don't feel taken advantage of.

I'd think TPTB would want nothing more than more employment, because people home all day with nothing to do? Idle hands are the hands of the devil, as they say....

I've made everyday Mayday then.... even if I'm about to leave and be early or on time... I'll stop sit on the couch and wait till I'm late.

I look at it this way they pay me for working 8 hours.... but what about all the extra time needed that I give to the MAN freely..... prep & travel time.

I guess they either don't notice, don't care, or don't want to fire me.

I suppose I'm old fashioned.
I thought May Day was all about having a shindig and chasing your beloved into the bushes.
I know that's what I did.
