Priest in gay porn probe

www.cnn.com

An Irish priest at the center of a gay porn controversy has asked to leave his parish and take sabbatical leave from the priesthood, he said Sunday.

Father Martin McVeigh has admitted he destroyed a memory stick containing "inappropriate imagery" ahead of a church investigation into reports he accidentally showed pictures of naked men to parents of children preparing for their First Holy Communion.

IDK, seems like every move the catholic church makes has been wrong. Honestly we need more diplomatic probe (in against the pedo allegation ) towards the church more than ever. Although, the primary catholic beliefs, dogma and rituals do no harm to no one, but apparently sexual suppression rears its ugly head into the realm of pedo- gay porn world. Perhaps its more or less the suppress of nature of a (natural man) who cannot release his sexual tension in a positive way (natural relationship male/ female).

Who am I kidding, I'm catholic and I know we don't need priest like this, at least in the anglicans religion priest can marry women, and have about a 95% doctrine are related to catholicsm. Well honestly all denominations have been at the hands of these allegations .

Here's a little hint, Meanwhile catholic missionary's in Africa

The problem with Priests is that they are still human.
Complete self-control is a very rare quality in humans...
In fact, I doubt it even exists.
So,either way You are going to have a priest who sins...
or a priest who sins.

What the??

........accidentally showed pictures of naked men to parents of children preparing for their First Holy Communion.

This isn't the same one who had Gay porn pop on a projector presentation a short while back is it? This is something new?

What is it with these perverts? and yes... a priest, willingly in a life of declared celibacy and with all the Priesthood comes with... ogling gay porn..is pervert status to my thinking.

Is it SO hard to keep their porn collections OUT of their Church duties??? I suppose the idea that material for the Church simply sitting on the same digital media as outlandish Pornography is, by itself, probably a moral violation on a pretty deep level is entirely lost. Kinda like storing porn mags under the Alter or something. Wow.. Wrong doesn't even start to cover it.

Sabbatical? How about Fired....out the door...and excommunicated, while we're all at it.

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone

Don't judge, lest you be judged

Are you saying all the morals that religion espouses should be ignored?

Lets release all the murderers then...

That quote never made sense to me. Aren't we all supposed to get judged at the end? Isn't anything contrary to religious "ideals" being judged by the religious?

You can't really judge someone who enjoys porn and is proud and vocal about it. I like porn, I look at it quite often. Care to judge me? Not that I would care...

Now take someone who declares celibacy and supposed "moral values"... Not so hard to judge them when you catch 'em looking at Vivid's newest releases....

Yes, we are all judged in the end. By God.
It is not up to people to judge others.

Just because it's easy to judge someone doesn't make it right.
That's where my first quote comes in...
Let he who is without sin, Cast the first stone

That sounds great until we're talking about people whose position in life is to stand before their fellow men and women as Moral Authority and Representatives of God himself.

It isn't about casting stones then, it's about casting filth out of that position of Moral 'authority'. He can go get personal with porn all he wants...outside the Priesthood. It's not perverted for 99% of the world to look at such things...but when you've CHOSEN to dedicate your life to being the model for others to follow, perverted is the nicest thing I can think to say.

You're saying, 'Let's allow it'.

Forgiveness is a form of judgement too.

You are right about taking him out of that position.
I never argued against that.
While we are at it, why do we even have ANY priests?
Might as well kick them all out.

Another twist to my words.
NO WHERE did I say "Let's allow it".
Did he do wrong? Yes. Should he be removed from priesthood? Yes.
Are we in a position to judge him any further? No.
That's all I'm saying.

I really should have ellaborated on my opinion more in the beginning lol.
I would have saved myself the trouble.

The case of practicing what you preach.

When what you preach as a leader is nonsensical, it makes sense your behaviour would be nonsensical and hypocritical, too.

Ie, preaching that gayness is wrong as well as porn is wrong, then lustfully indulging in both - not as being honest with oneself - but with the psyche dramatics of teaching against the very things you go out and do mostly behind closed doors and in utter denial/facade.

If the plethora of gay priests would be honest and frank with their followers about their orientation, they wouldn't see it as an evil sinful rule against lust made to be broken behind closed doors in their hypocritical teaches and self views.

Gay priests make homosexuality look scornful- which is the standing biblical view on homosexuality too, right? so they are the product of their unsound, un Godly beliefs.

what God would inspire religious leaders to be such blatant, epidemic hypocrites??

I guess you missed where every religion in the world tells us something is either "wrong" or "right" supposedly by the word of god...

judging

present participle of judge (Verb)
Verb:
Form an opinion or conclusion about.

I'm a judgmental person. Again... one of the reasons I never understood that quote...

I'm not saying it's wrong because of an opinion. God's judgement is what we go by.
I'm acknowledging his judgement.

I completely agree with you and I assumed your comments were directed at the church who fired him.

I am beginning to see that you were referring to us posters... however discussing topics is what we do here. Sharing our opinions does not affect the outcome of his employment and should only be regarded as figurative judgement.

The problem doesn't lie with priests. The problem lies with the fools who continue to blindly accept and further religion. You get what you deserve.
