While I and other women are encouraged to be analytically on this subject, one always wonders how dispassionately men would be if the subject where reversed?

What if this discussion was instead about a society in which the boy children's penis was cut off at 4 years to 15 years old? The function for reproduction could still be performed with a turkey baster.

We could all agree it was terrible, but debate the finer points about the relative merits of a society where men don't have penises. I'm sure some we could generate some reasons why this would be beneficial.

Anyone? What would your reaction to this be? A female dominant society in which the men have been convinced of the merits of cutting of their son's penis for the well being of families and society? Where people who powerfully form culture loudly advocated for this in your culture. Would you be quite so.....dispassionate, and encourage your fellow man to adopt a live and let live attitude about it? That you'd be dispassionate about the encouragement of this cultural paradigm in your culture.

I'm just curious. I suspect not. Maybe I'm wrong.

Let's not equate mutilating a young girl so she can not feel pleasure with male circumcision. One is about control and power, the other is not. Here are some facts.

www.cdc.gov...

Back to the topic at hand, this is just one of numerous ways in which women are kept under the thumb of men. I know a girl living in Saudi Arabia, she lived in London with her husband. When she divorced him after he repeatedly raped and beat her, her government cancelled her scholarships and forced her to return home. She now can not leave the country unless her father allows her to. She desires to move back to the UK or the US, but is completely unable to do anything.

Boys are circumsized because it claims you are a slave to serve your lord
jeez
how could you miss that?

Don't confuse cosmetic obsession and self indulgence with FGM. There's a difference. There's a big difference.

The WHO has included these surgeries in their defintion of FGM. I happen to agree with you that they are on the slippery slope in doing so with application of some context to define that there is a difference between a person doing so for their own reasons and a person doing so under some form of duress.

Is this not a form of duress? Does an eight day old child sign the papers in the YES box and then scream and cry like holy hell just for the fun of it all?

Mutilating the anatomy of any life is quite barbaric.
Alas men and boys are not excluded. Although I think this practice has gonre underground or died out.

People like this are what logical people call "savages that have not evolved along with most of the smarter creatures". In my world this guy would be thrown off a balcony. Human females and males are naturally born with all body parts in tact, if a human decides that nature is wrong then they are fighting a battle that is already lost. This planet must be hell, where do these people come from or are coming from?

Well as far as my understanding of history and religion goes is this: the female circumcision is not in the tenats of Islam, it was started in two different areas at two different times- First is africa in the northern regions that spreaded south (was part of devineness in many cental tribe for celebent fortune tellers) and in isolated areas of the middle east, these two areas came to meet under Ali's conquest against the infedels so that in a nutshell is how it got its Muslem heiritage.

Its still a gruesome thing that leaves women with nothing in the pleasure department, and in my opinion, its no fun if shes' not howling with pleasure.

The best defence against any bacterial infection, is good hygiene. Once contracted, good hygiene is also the best preventative against it causing cancer, in both females and males, and given good hygiene the body usually rids itself of the infection.

Can you show me a link to a source that states HPV is curable with good hygiene. The more you post the less credible you become.

She was referring to PID, which is a bacterial infection.

Not all the forms of HPV have been proven to stay in the body. There are more than a 100 last time I looked. Only a handful have been proven to continue in the body going dormant, and a handful of those seem to have some relation to cell mutations that can lead to cancer and maybe other cell based tumours/cysts/fibroids. It seems to be presumed that all forms of HPV remain in the body dormant after being contracted.

Let's talk mass psychology. Some forms of phobias are completely dependent on the culture of origin of the sufferer. For example, a phobia in Asia is that women's vaginas will bite off men's penises (peni, penisisi, penesses...) but this phobia is almost unheard of elsewhere.

Several of the pre-Islam stories this practice is based on are takes on men (gods) finding on their wedding night that their wife has a penis (enlarged clitoris) that is competing with their manhood and so they cut it off. These are likely stories of hermaphrodites and the transgendered. So the clitoris is depicted as being a competition to the man's sexual dominance.

This story is often some form of God wanting to have sex with his wife the Earth and the vaginal canal is an ant colony hill, and the ant hill is too enormous so the God has to cut the ant hill down. Great story. Too bad people are so damn literal.

How was she referring to PID when it was a reply to my HPV comments? If she was talking about PID she might as well have been talking about anything, since our discussion was on HPV. Also PID may need a lot more than good hygiene to cure in some cases.

So can you show me a link to HPV of the STI category being cured? Not all strains of HPV are sexualy transmitted, we are talking about the ones that are. There is zero evidence to say it ever goes away once contracted, and hygiene is not the cure, which is what her comment was.

Now Ms.Verden was pretty clear about HPV and PID as examples at the beginning.

There's no evidence either way for a large number of the HPV. There are a derth of HPV and only a small number that have been shown to remain in the system. Of those, only some of them have been studied usually due to being casually linked to cancer causing symptoms. Of the rest, who knows at the moment if they go dormant or they are beaten by the immune system. Or if some parts of the population are immune.

Maybe one day we'll know for sure - assumption based on other HPV is suggestive, but not definitive.

how about question my question Mr.Razor? You think that people would be as willing to discuss the cultural mores of this subject if we were talking about removing the penises of boys at four?
