Incubated egg inside of the body

Unfortunately, the hen died, but the chick is fully formed and completely healthy. The explanation for the “live” birth is a fairly simple one; a veterinarian examined the hen and found that the chick’s egg was fertilized inside the hen, but then stayed inside the hen’s body until it hatched. The egg was incubated for 21 days inside the hen before it hatched. As one may have guessed, the hen died from internal wounds.

I'm guessing something was wrong with the hen to make it impossible to release the egg and cause it to incubate it internally. I wonder how many may be out there we don't hear about. Interesting anyway.

I call BS. It just could not happen. An egg needs air so the chick can breath through the shell.

Did not happen, no way no how.

But isn't a egg sealed not only by the shell but also with a membrane inside?

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

The chicken.

We can finally put that one to bed.
Now we can put our efforts into figuring out who's on 1st & what's on 2nd.

I don't know if it did or didn't. Quite honestly there's always a little oddity with any species. Genetic, environmental, you name it. The fact that this happened in Sri Lanka, does make it more curious. It's possible it's a hoax like the woman in Mexico pregnant with nine babies. I wouldn't doubt that just like we do, some countries throw stories out there wondering what we'll buy. Definitely a curious article though.
