Lasco Beam directed at the Sun or the Sun directing it at an object?

With all the other thousands of posts in probably a hundred other threads concerning the artifacts that the SOHO equipment can and does produce, on a daily basis.... this still continues. Incredible.

This is not the dwarf star, but hey if you want to get get technical now, go look at SOHO now. Looks like their is an object behind the dwarf artifact because it emits a shadow from it. Didn't do that before.

From the homepage of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, this is the latest image from the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph.
What the blazes is this "object behind the dwarf artifact" that you're rabbiting on about????

So when you said "if you want to get get technical now, go look at SOHO now", what you actually meant was to
- go look at a completely different satellite
- that is in a different orbit
- with different instruments that I've never referred to before.

gee.. no wonder I couldnt find it.

But anyway, still cant see anything out of the ordinary. Would you care to post a picture with a big arrow pointing to what you're talking about?

ok, silly me, when you used the word "now" (twice), I went to the STEREO website and had a look at the latest image, dated 2012-04-30 05:54:24 UTC

What you actually meant was to go to the helioviewer website and have a look at an image nearly a month old now, from 2012-04-02 01:54:00 UTC

So anyway, I see the cleaning thread thats been mentioned a whole bunch of times now on ATS and some obscure patch that you call a "shadow".

The shadow was taken today. lol

Not a month ago.

Maybe it's just a glare from the sun on the artifact.

Who knows.
