i wonder if in contrast, there are predominantly asexual sentient species across the universe and what they do for intimacy and pairing if sex (intercourse, exchange of fluids, etc) is not necessary for procreation nor bonding?

Realistically humans can do that with DNA cloning. I wonder if they even need a seed or zygote any more (need for both a man and a woman). With todays tech, I doubt it.
