If occupy really wants to make a positive change they should end their stupid as occupation, start writing massive amounts of letters to their congress reps, and senators, start writing massive amounts of letters to the white house, and start demanding that these pricks listen to US, the citizens who pay their effing rediculous government salaries, or penalties will be thought up and executed.

Last time I went to an occupy "movement" I was there for about an hour handing out paper and pencils telling people to do something meaningful. It was obvious that it was just a bunch of "hippies" without direction or a real purpose. They were barely organized! I also noticed that their camps were half protesters and half homeless people living in tents because they wouldn't get kicked out of the designated areas. Kind of a pathetic attempt at change if you ask me.

Of course they're left-wing.

Anyone who supports government reform is traditionally left-wing.

Trying to use it as an insult just shows your lack of understanding.

The original political meanings of ‘left’ and ‘right’ have changed since their origin in the French estates general in 1789. There the people sitting on the left could be viewed as more or less anti-statists with those on the right being state-interventionists of one kind or another. In this interpretation of the pristine sense, libertarianism was clearly at the extreme left-wing.

www.la-articles.org.uk...

The left has a long tradition of occupy type tactics, especially anarchists because anarchism is the direct action route to socialism, as apposed to the political path of Marxism.

We had the 'Stop the City' protests in London in the eighties, that I was a part of, that occupied the City of London and stopped people from getting to work. This lead directly to other anti-globalism protests of this type.

What do you want people to do, vote?

Stop the City

Quite a blinded view of history. "Right wing" movements have been quite involved with reform movements throughout all of history. In a system with the largest, most unwieldy government in the history of mankind, "left wing" would be merely adding to the status quo rather than "reforming" it. The only American reform movement I've seen is the Paul movement. OWS is a bunch of useful idiots actively supporting the system they claim to hate. Their generation was brainwashed into stupidity to begin with. It's unfair to put the blame entirely on them. And check your facts.
Unchecked Left wing movements have almost ALWAYS ended up in tyranny and bloodshed.

I suppose the idea of doing this on an American holiday and perhaps even an American holiday known for freedom and bright futures is entirely out of the question? Is it even an issue to anyone in Occupy that the big event of the year so far is on the day best known as a world wide Communist celebratory day?

It's almost funny how hard they argue to NOT be connected to Communism but then do things like this that might just as well be putting banners for the cause right oer every Occupy camp around. Er.....

All one has to do is talk to a few OWSers or watch their own youtube messages or their website to know they are communists. But that is all "the MSM twisting their message." Right.
Let's do our big anti-capitalism event on Communism's most important day. And then pretend we're an American or pro-freedom movement.

Hmmm I see you know a little about the history you've been told by your masters lol. But you fail to have an understanding of what really happened. I think you are the one who is blinded simply by accepting what you've been told and not actually studied, or researched, the history of the labour struggle and the true left.

There is no left-wing in the American government. No one is working towards worker ownership and breakdown of the state. All left and right is used for in that context is to create artificial apposing sides.

What is meant by 'reform', in this context, is not so much change, as get rid of. The right-wing has always been pro-state, big or small. Left-wing has always been government reform, anti-stateists of one kind or another. The only difference between anarchism and Marxism is the path to free association.

As far as left-wing I'm not talking about governments who claimed to be communist or socialist, which they weren't, but the real left of the working class anarchists and socialists.

Governments, unless they are revolutionary and working towards socialism, are by definition right-wing. No matter what they call themselves, or other people lable them. They have fooled you into thinking it's all authority, when in reality the left-wing is of the people, not the state. The state is always right wing by definition.

The anarchists new a revolutionary government was impossible, and is why they rejected the political path to communism, free association, and they were right. There have been no left-wing governments in power.

Ron Paul doesn't want to reform government towards any real change. Real change can only happen with a change in the type of economy we have. The government we have is a result of the economy we have. As long as the means of production are privately owned we will have a hierarchical class system. The only thing that changes in government is the ability for capitalists to make more profit by exploiting labour.

If the workers owned the means of production there would be no 1% or 99%. We would all have what we need, because we would have the means to produce what we need.

Ultimately the goal is the same for all left-wing ideologies and that is free association, the differences are in the path to get there. The political path, Marxism, Leninism etc., and the direct action revolutionary path of the anarchists.

In the anarchist, Marxist and socialist sense, free association (also called free association of producers or, as Marx often called it, community of freely associated individuals) is a kind of relation between individuals where there is no state, social class or authority, in a society that has abolished the private property of means of production. Once private property is abolished, individuals are no longer deprived of access to means of production so they can freely associate themselves (without social constraint) to produce and reproduce their own conditions of existence and fulfill their needs and desires.

Your opinion of OWS is just that, your opinion. I am not affiliated with OWS, but with all it's faults at least it is people protesting, not whining on a web site.

This story has been making its way to all the alphabet networks today.
And if you listen to what the talkingheads are sayin, basically, its anarchy and the end of the world.

I also have no affliation with the OWS movement.
But I dont consider myself any differnet form the thousands,if not millions of frustrated,fed-up people in this country.

Time will tell if what they are doing is the right or wrong way to go about things.
That being said, its better than not doing anything,

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. "
-Thomas Jefferson
