In anticipation of May Day demonstrations, Occupy Wall Street is vowing to pull out all the stops with the “biggest shut down“ New York City has ”ever seen.” Likewise, Occupy Oakland is also gearing up to shut down all travel in the San Francisco Bay area.

www.theblaze.com...

So, how exactly will this help balance out the difference between the rich and the poor? OWS has clearly lost their message and probably their minds!

It's not going to.

After spending a large amount of my personal time trying to attatch myself to the occupy movement, I've found it so easily apparent that the occupyers are nothing more than leftist hippie kids who want to cause problems and get a rise out of people.... Instead of trying to effect any positive changes for society. I faced this same problem with the tea party after they sold out to the republicans.

Initially both the tea party and occupy showed a lot of promise. Now they are both bastardizations of what was really meant to happen. You think anything is going to change because a handful of idiots stand out in the street?

In my country, the US, we are so far beyond that point in time where protest meant something. We're so far beyond effectively changing anything that taking to the streets in any fashion other than one that's ready to very literally fight for what they believe in, to fundamentally change the way Americans live their lives.

The problem is, has been, and always will be, FEAR.

We're so damn afraid to take action against tyrannical laws, and we're so blinded by Hollywood trash, bogus media, and countless other distractions to even notice that for the last ten years our true, and god given freedoms have been and are being systematically taken from us. It's pathetic.

If occupy really wants to make a positive change they should end their stupid as occupation, start writing massive amounts of letters to their congress reps, and senators, start writing massive amounts of letters to the white house, and start demanding that these pricks listen to US, the citizens who pay their effing rediculous government salaries, or penalties will be thought up and executed.

If any one has better suggestions I'm open to them.

Occupy is a flipping joke.

This will only backfire against them massively.

Which is what they're really designed to do.

Good. Let them go at it. Some dissent is better than no dissent at all.
There is a big problem that is happening,
and if people understood what that problem was, then it wouldn't be just 'hippie kids' 'acting out' 'just because they can'. We'll see.

Anything is better than nothing.

Shop keepers in NYC were upset with the OWS bunch. They drove business away and the shop keepers/workers lost money. These aren't rich people ... they are small business owners and workers. OWS HURT them. It didn't help.

Actually, I'm surprised there are still people doing this OWS thing. I figured it died out.

If they do that, then how are all those Wall Street guys going to commute to work?

As you said, both the Tea Party and OWS started out with clear messages, and goals. They've both been subverted by the extreme right and left wings respectively, and there's nothing we can do about it. Our options of protest have become more limited as more idiots are left in charge of these movements.

Do we calmly sit back and wait for the end, or is there a way to change it all? It's obvious to me that TPTB want a violent revolution. They want us to leave our homes, with our guns, our brothers and sisters by our sides so that they can crush us all in the same place, at the same time. So far, we haven't given them that satisfaction. By staving off a violent overthrow, we are given more time in which to formulate other possibilities. Spam campaigns to every representative comes to mind. Letters, postcards, emails, etc. Annoy them to the point of action. I've been doing this for three years now. I write an email a night to my representatives. I always get a nice "personalized" letter back, but it doesn't do any good. More people need to start doing this en masse.

I guess, until the day that the plug is pulled on the "Bread and Circuses," people won't wake up to the fact that we are slowly being sold, freedom by freedom.

Just my whole take on things. OWS is just a joke now.

There are casualties in war, because this is what it is.
If things are going to change, then certain entities will get hurt during that change.

I think OWS is the last thing the shopkeepers need to worry about,
I think -their government- is far more dangerous, they should be on the streets to. They're getting just as screwed as everyone else on the planet.

time to open up those FEMA camps....that's what they are really for. when the "people" start revolting against the massive wealth disparity, that's when the big guns are brought out.
you can protest abortion, gun rights, gay issues...but take on the the "wealthy" in this country and the PTB launch into full rambo mode
you watch...i can hear what is going to said on the MSM already..."these are just college hooligans"..."hippies"..."communists"...."socialists" "they are blocking people from getting to work" ..."look, they are smoking pot"....
the MSM will show any and all types of mischief, but never ask honest questions about lost jobs, low income, people screwed out of there homes, healthcare, union benefits, or 401k's.

oh they'll let you protest...so long it's in a "protest zone"...a fenced off area away from any part of the city where they might cause some disruption of people's everyday lives...or...farther away still, if it near any of the wealthy elite.
the MSM will then show you a ten-second video feed of some weirdly dressed protestors behind the fenced-in area holding up bizarre signs, not the mostly regular people that we would identify as people like us.

No, they didn't. The police barricades are what shop and restaurant owners were mostly complaining about. That was just the corporate media spin.

Also the term "shut it down" means a general strike, they're calling on laborers, teachers, students, workers from every level to go on strike on May 1st...which by the way is traditionally a day for such things, it's called May Day. Leave it to the Blaze to slant...lol.

"Leftist Hippie Kids"...wow that's something that Richard Nixon would say isn't it? IMHO the world would be a much better place if there were more "Leftist Hippies" in it!

It didn't die out, MSM just not reporting it so much.

Just like TEA party - when was the last time we saw CNN or even FOX cover a TEA party event?

If Oakland shuts down the Bay Area, violence has to erupt eventually. This standing around with sharpies and posters wont last too long. If only these Occupy people knew how massive the conspiracies are against us . Then they might actually have a clear message in the the fight and accomplish more.

Gotta laugh at the Keyboard warriors here who sit on their rears ridiculing those who are trying to help steer this country back into the right direction again.

REAL change in this country has NEVER been needed more than right now. Things have to change before our children and grandchildren are literally SLAVES in complete poverty with ZERO hope of ANY dream of theirs ever coming to fruition.

Something has to be done and NOW. At least there are folks like Occupy are DOING something unlike the "keyboard warriors" here who just bang away on the keyboard ridiculing people who actually attempt to do something. The keyboard warriors here do NOTHING but ridicule those who take action while blabbing worthless nonsense on online forums.

But carry on keyboard warriors. Carry on with your bad deeds in life of spewing propaganda, ridicule, and character-assassination against those who are working on making POSITIVE change for the GOOD of this country. Carry on with your mission of appeasing your traitor masters who want this business-as-usual to continue. Carry on... your bad karma is coming. You can expect that. Carry on...

They should occupy the neighborhoods of the rich. And include highend golf couses and country clubs. All the places where the rich elite leisure at should be the targerts. Also grocerystores full of GMO products would be another good avenue. If they could organize and just peacefully go out and spread information in many different locations without disrupting the general public they would gain so much more progress.

I live in a small town and we have a small group that comes out on sundays to spread their message without interfering with the local buisnesses. I was thinking of going and talking with them to see what their real goals are. Who knows maybe I can teach them some things if they are interested and maybe even give them some direction.

No argument, it would be much more peaceful.
I could mellow to that idea. Peace, man....

The only problem is, the leftist hippy ideals only work if you can take care of greed, selfishness, snd self-importance.

If you can't get rid of it then it takes different ideas to deal with it.
