It's not going to.

After spending a large amount of my personal time trying to attatch myself to the occupy movement, I've found it so easily apparent that the occupyers are nothing more than leftist hippie kids who want to cause problems and get a rise out of people.... Instead of trying to effect any positive changes for society. I faced this same problem with the tea party after they sold out to the republicans.

Initially both the tea party and occupy showed a lot of promise. Now they are both bastardizations of what was really meant to happen. You think anything is going to change because a handful of idiots stand out in the street?

In my country, the US, we are so far beyond that point in time where protest meant something. We're so far beyond effectively changing anything that taking to the streets in any fashion other than one that's ready to very literally fight for what they believe in, to fundamentally change the way Americans live their lives.

The problem is, has been, and always will be, FEAR.

We're so damn afraid to take action against tyrannical laws, and we're so blinded by Hollywood trash, bogus media, and countless other distractions to even notice that for the last ten years our true, and god given freedoms have been and are being systematically taken from us. It's pathetic.

If occupy really wants to make a positive change they should end their stupid as occupation, start writing massive amounts of letters to their congress reps, and senators, start writing massive amounts of letters to the white house, and start demanding that these pricks listen to US, the citizens who pay their effing rediculous government salaries, or penalties will be thought up and executed.

If any one has better suggestions I'm open to them.

Occupy is a flipping joke.

As you said, both the Tea Party and OWS started out with clear messages, and goals. They've both been subverted by the extreme right and left wings respectively, and there's nothing we can do about it. Our options of protest have become more limited as more idiots are left in charge of these movements.

Do we calmly sit back and wait for the end, or is there a way to change it all? It's obvious to me that TPTB want a violent revolution. They want us to leave our homes, with our guns, our brothers and sisters by our sides so that they can crush us all in the same place, at the same time. So far, we haven't given them that satisfaction. By staving off a violent overthrow, we are given more time in which to formulate other possibilities. Spam campaigns to every representative comes to mind. Letters, postcards, emails, etc. Annoy them to the point of action. I've been doing this for three years now. I write an email a night to my representatives. I always get a nice "personalized" letter back, but it doesn't do any good. More people need to start doing this en masse.

I guess, until the day that the plug is pulled on the "Bread and Circuses," people won't wake up to the fact that we are slowly being sold, freedom by freedom.

Just my whole take on things. OWS is just a joke now.

oh they'll let you protest...so long it's in a "protest zone"...a fenced off area away from any part of the city where they might cause some disruption of people's everyday lives...or...farther away still, if it near any of the wealthy elite.
the MSM will then show you a ten-second video feed of some weirdly dressed protestors behind the fenced-in area holding up bizarre signs, not the mostly regular people that we would identify as people like us.

No, they didn't. The police barricades are what shop and restaurant owners were mostly complaining about. That was just the corporate media spin.

Also the term "shut it down" means a general strike, they're calling on laborers, teachers, students, workers from every level to go on strike on May 1st...which by the way is traditionally a day for such things, it's called May Day. Leave it to the Blaze to slant...lol.

"Leftist Hippie Kids"...wow that's something that Richard Nixon would say isn't it? IMHO the world would be a much better place if there were more "Leftist Hippies" in it!

No argument, it would be much more peaceful.
I could mellow to that idea. Peace, man....

The only problem is, the leftist hippy ideals only work if you can take care of greed, selfishness, snd self-importance.

If you can't get rid of it then it takes different ideas to deal with it.
