I used to feel guilty for watching lolcats myself, angrymob, because I know how mindless it is. So I agree with you in one sense.

On another level though, we're spreading joy by linking to these videos. We're also often sharing material which depicts animals and humans interacting with each other in a positive and loving way. So yes, we might not be doing the most materially productive thing we could be, perhaps; but making people happy is a good thing to do.
