For us Americans, what is an HGV license? Is like a CDL?

I'm pretty sure he's been arrested now, it seems to be all over.
Sky news and BBC have both said the same.


Hopefully it's over and nobody was hurt.

Which to me suggested he never set out to hurt people, just a desperate bloke. I should imagine we will see more of this kind of desperation, although I think there will be a good many that don't end peacefully and a good many that are more violent from the off. I sure do hope for nothing but the best for every honest working man and woman across the planet, just have to keep your head up. I'm glad it ended peacefully.

A man has been seen to be arrested by police, but it isn't confirmed to be him...yet.

Heavy Goods Vehicle so what you guys call a semi.. with a trailer. I've no idea what a CDL is though?

EDIT: Googled CDL - Commercial Drivers Licence. Yes it's that!

Dudes lost the plot, he won't be the last by any means.
I expect the job center staff will go back to hiding behind the toughened glass again soon.

He sure seems qualified to be a trucker.

Did he fail the prostitute murder portion of the test?

I think you have a strangle her with one hand while still shifting and sterring.

Well it's hardly surprising really, people are getting pissed off with the lack of jobs going; HGV licenses are quite expensive to obtain here too. With all the training, plus the test etc you're looking at a good couple of thousand pounds to become fully qualified to drive the articulated vehicles.

That coupled with unemployment which is now at 8.3% in the UK (or 2.65 million people, the highest in over 20 years) and the cost of living rising at a ridiculous rate, folk are starting to get angry.

Having said all that he also seems to be a complete mentalist and I do not condone his actions at all.
