Please stop talking about Jesus

Thread after thread of "Jesus said this" and "Jesus said that", and "what he really meant by that was..."

Please stop it. The Bible has been so heavily distorted by over the years that we really don't know what he said, if anything at all. Not to mention the fact that nobody wrote about him until decades after his supposed death.

There is a plethora of Jesus forums out there full of like minded genii as yourselves, and I highly recommend using them. They're great places to hang out - honestly.

I won't be replying to this thread because, guess what, I don't want to argue about Jesus or his alleged teachings. If I did I would post on a JESUS FORUM.

Sorry if anyone's weak mind has been offended by this.

I can sympathize with this. I learned a while ago that if the word "Jesus" was in a thread title to not click on it. I just dont care. So ... theres that.

If you don't want to argue about Jesus on ATS, just don't reply to any of those threads.

Nice rant. But a bit silly.

First off, the bible is pretty much top-spot in the document integrity race given the massive number of available copies, external references, and early copies that can all be used to verify accuracy as originally given - and even the variant readings, almost none of which have any significant impact to the content, are all available and documented openly for comparison. Compared to a great many other famous (and commonly-unchallenged) writings, the bible is pristine and easily substantiated.

Nobody wrote about him until decades after his death, you say? You mean when there were still eyewitnesses and plenty others who could easily confirm or deny such events to shut the thing down at the outset when it was still fledgling?

How about anyone who wants to talk about Jesus or the bible feel free to stay right here and do so, since it's an open forum with categories designed exactly for these kinds of discussions...you're certainly free to take it up with the site owners if you'd like to see about getting those forums shut down, I suppose. But that wouldn't be very cool of you at all.

I do understand frustration. I too get frustrated with all of the arguments and , yes, ignorance, in some of the religious threads.... BUT that's what the forums are for...-discussing!
However, the solution to your problem could be like mine : Just IGNORE the threads that bother you - do not enter them! You can't get too upset if you ignore or refuse to participate. That's my 2cents

I agree with you there, but I also have to note that today, if I had of taken a screen shot, it seemed like the site was inundated with Jesus related threads. Like any other topic at ATS, I believe the flow of the site and discussions is best served with as few threads on a given subject as possible.

There is a religion and whatnot forum here, so obviously it's open for discussion, like almost any topic is. I think the OP might have just hit his limit today.

I do respect your opinion about this, please don't misunderstand me. However, I feel as if you may be convicted at the mere mention of Jesus, and you don't want to be reminded of that. My advice is if you don't want to read about him, you really don't have to click on the thread. I don't like people mentioning Obama, but Im not going to ask people to stop talking about him. Thats just crazy. If I don't want to read about someone or something, I just skip the thread or article. Its that simple. Funny how some people get so offended by the mere name of Jesus...

It's still nowhere near as bad as Youtube. You can barely click on anything these days without someone underneath banging the Lords drum. It's only going to get worse everywhere, you'll be up to your neck in born again's everywhere by December, might as well resign yourself to it now.

Religion, Faith, and Theology and Conspiracies in Religion are appropriate threads to discuss Jesus,a religious figure surrounded in conspiracy and controversy.

There are appropriate threads for you to hang around to discuss your topics of interest with like-minded folk. I would never even suggest robbing you of your entertainment in those areas. I think the same courtesy is expected in return.

I see a new rant every other day saying "Stop Talking About This or That!" Why is it that so many people want to tell others what to discuss and what not to discuss? None of it is required reading. Read what you want and skip over the threads that don't interest you. We all have different likes/dislikes. It amazes me that anyone would post a thread just to tell other members what they should and shouldn't discuss. Those are the threads that I'm sick of seeing.

True as well, but like the OP states, I've looked at the new topics page and sometimes you have 5-10 threads with the same basic title, which does get old. Because then there is nothing good to read!

I learnt about him for 18 years. I'm a recovering catholic. Been clean for 10 years now - woo!

He was probably a cool guy with some very wise words, but all that's been ruined in my opinion from the hypocrites who spread his word but have learnt nothing from him. Not you. The people who are running these filthy rich religions.
I did say I wasn't going to reply to this thread because I don't want to argue about Jesus, so this is my last post.
