I look at my 2 year old who is this bright shiny vessel of innocence without a care in the world and love him so. I then think to all the parents who will be planting the seeds of guilt, fear and original sin into their children not far from this age. To me this is child abuse. Children are like sponges and whatever you put into their minds stay with them for the rest of their lives. Most of the people on here are Christians because their parents did the same thing to them. The only way these fairy tales can stay alive, is to get em while they are young and their mind will believe anything. (Santa, Tooth Fairy) <-- not really that hard to do.
If something is such truth, why do you need to brainwash your kid? Why do you need to extinguish their light with guilt and fear? Please stop
Thanks,
P.S. This goes for all religions.edit on 24-4-2012 by mayabong because: (no reason given)
Teaching Christianity the way the church teaches it I'm not sure should be called child abuse, more like child confusion. However teaching what Jesus taught is not abuse nor confusion.
The message in the bible that Jesus taught. The Holy Spirit lives in you and guides you. If you listen you can hear the Holy Spirit guiding you and teaching you all things. Knowing the Holy Spirit lives in you allows you to know that God loves you. If you ignore the guidance of the Holy Spirit God will discipline you. When you feel like you are being disciplened by God know that he does this for the same reason your parents do, he loves you like his child. Because he considers you his child. If you can learn to listen to the Holy Spirit at all times, you will become free from sin, because the one that teaches you overcame sin and wants to teach you to do the same.
Tell me what I have said that amounts to child abuse.
