A short article i found on LINK: Science Daily

Pizza for prostate cancer? lol ok sure if it works. I'd prefer some pasta with extra sauce or a nice pesto cause or something but it turns out Oregano of all things is a so called Super Spice.

"We know that oregano possesses anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties, but its effects on cancer cells really elevate the spice to the level of a super-spice like turmeric," said Dr. Bavadekar. Though the study is at its preliminary stage, she believes that the initial data indicates a huge potential in terms of carvacrol's use as an anti-cancer agent. "A significant advantage is that oregano is commonly used in food and has a 'Generally Recognized As Safe' status in the US. We expect this to translate into a decreased risk of severe toxic effects."

That said, I'm not much into posting threads or into medical stuff, but being half Sicilian and seeing as i love Italian food, i found this very interesting. Red wine, tomatoes, garlic, oregano, whole grains, are all staples of Italian foods. But i had no idea they trying to make a therapy for patients with prostate cancer out of oregano. I kind of always took spices for granted just because they tasted good. Good find doctors, good find indeed.

Back in the day, my Grandmother knew all about herbs and their uses in the medical ways. Unfortunately, we have lost all that knowledge now. I did find a site that talks of natural remedies for medicine. Simple things, mind you, like for high blood pressure, high sugar, headaches, stomach aches, etc.. That being said, I don't know about the more serious stuff like cancer.

One thing is for sure, if the people knew of other ways to treat symptoms other than with pharmacy drugs, maybe the doctors wouldn't push drugs on every Tom, Dick and Harry making the drug companies billions of dollars every year.

The bright side to natural herbs, if treatable, is there is no long list of side effects that comes along with pharmacy medicines.

Me too. I've been trying to do research on the different uses of herbs and what they are good for. I just wished I paid more attention to my Grandmother when I was younger. But noooo, I didn't see the need to know any thing at that age. One of my many regrets....

Oh yeah, check into organic apple cider vinegar. That one site I go to rants about that stuff.

we have not lost the knowledge.it is just that doctors are little more than pimps for drug companies and get all sorts of kickbacks such as free holidays in the guise of conferences,a chance to look up the short skirt of big pharma sales reps, prostitutes at the conference, expense paid luncheons,etc...

doctors have become evil now.

Back to Eden is an absolute must, I bought mine in 1990 in Chelsea, New York, it is book FILLED with all the "old" information that everyone is saying has been lost.
Jethro Kloss lived many years ago and had a huge knowledge, all or most of which is in this amazing book which was first printed in 1971. He believed in the information and the need to spread the information so much that the book is to this day still being printed/subsidized by the family foundation in order for it to be affordable. I paid $4.95 in 1990 for a 684 page book, that's cheap by anyone's definition.

And just to give one example his description of and the uses for Cayenne/Capsicum/ Red Peppr is over 15 pages long.

On the title page of the book it is described as: "A Human Interest Story of Health and Restoration to be found in Herb, Root and Bark.

He covers Identification of Herbs/plants/trees etc. Uses of all parts and/or the parts which should be avoided etc etc. etc!

I don't even live in the USA, I was doing a part time Proofreading job in New York when I discovered the book and even though I live in Namibia in Africa I found the amount and quality of information so amazing that I bought it immediately and when I packed to come home and had excess baggage I left books such as "The Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie which I had carried all the way from Paris and had paid much more for and hadn't even finished reading it.

This is a book that anybody with any idea of living a natural life should possess! Do yourself the favour! If you don't find it useful and informative I would be astonished!
