The Pleiades begins its yearly cycle in the middle of May when the sun is aligned between Earth and the stars of Pleiades. This actually happens twice a year, once in May and then again in November. What makes this particular alignment unique is the solar eclipse conjunting the stars of Pleiades, which happens May 20,2012. It is also interesting to note that once every eight years the planet Venus can be seen very close to the stars of the Pleiades. The last transit that Venus made near this star group was in 2004, that being said Venus returns again 2012, this time it wil be adjacent to the central star Alcyone and Maia.
As for the the transit of Venus across the face of the sun, it is indeed a rare alignment, coming in pairs that are eight years apart but seperated by over a century, the next time this will happen will be in 2117.

The op posted this in: 2012: Discussion and speculation related to the potential end of the world prophecies surrounding the year, 2012.

The op even eluded to the fact that they think this is all speculation. How can speculation be debunked?? If he had said "all of these things are facts" then sure, debunk away.

it's easy to debunk speculation, if it's completely unfounded.

Just because you are not presenting something as fact, doesn't mean that you cannot be way off base. I get that he said he doesn't necassarily believe it. But multiple people, who know a lot about this subject have weighed in.

Speculation:
a. Contemplation or consideration of a subject; meditation.
b. A conclusion, opinion, or theory reached by conjecture.
c. Reasoning based on inconclusive evidence; conjecture or supposition.

Conjecture:
Inference or judgment based on inconclusive or incomplete evidence; guesswork.

Anyone who tries to make sense out of the quatrains of Nostradamus is fighting a losing battle, no one knows for certain what his quatrains are saying. It is all conjecture.

The poster who was referring to the Mayan calendar really fascinates me and seems to have a firm grasp on the subject, I have read many of his threads with great interest.

I realize that this is a public forum and is open for all to chime in, I do however, believe that in light of this particular topic and where it is located, some people need to leave their condescending attitudes at the door and lighten up a bit.

I personally think that the op did a good job putting his thoughts together and trying to connect the dots. Even if some of his information is a little farfetched, it was still a good read and a thought provoking thread.

Considering that we are now in the second quarter of 2012 and that nothing of any great significance has happened disaster wise, I think that either the action is about to ramp up or more likely the whole 2012 dooms day thing is just an urban myth.
There is only 7 months left of the year.
Or is the whole thing supposed to come crashing down on the the 21st of Dec. And if so, what time? What time zone ?

Well this would be a first then. The first time a quatrain of Nostrodomus was applied to an event prior to the event actually taking place. Up until now the quatrain is applied after the event and we make it fit.

Oh and there is no Nibiru. I thought we had this established already. Sheesh, Anything approaching for the end of next month. ( 3 weeks or so really) would certainly be visable by now. No one is buying this right ?
Go outside and look up. If there was anything it would be all over the news now, today, everyone would be talking about it. There would be emergency meetings taking place and every official would be on this trying to determine how to best protect their citizens. There would be NOTHING else on the news but an approaching planet. It would be everything.
Its not because there is no Nibiru. There isnt enough duct tape in the world to shut up the whistle blowers if there was something to report.

I think things have been getting a bit more intense with the global economy, politically and in nature. Look at all of the 'fireballs', earthquakes, and just plain crazy weather.

I don't put much stock in any doomsday like prediction/prophecy as there are SOOO many. I just find it interesting to read up on the "flavor of the week" if you will.

The OP was really well put together, gives me something to do on this boring afternoon.

BTW, congrats on making the front page. Looking forward to seeing where this thread goes.

I think people think to much. If the world is going to end then let it end I personally don't want to know and don't care to and why because it would be chaos. People say they would kick back and have a beer and maybe some would, but you and I know that most would go and kill and steal and who knows what. I say better to leave that date in God's hands. But it is fun talking about all this 2012 stuff I like the two sun thing my self. live love laugh

What would be the point in stealing and killing because the world is ending ?
Why steal when there is no tomorrow to enjoy the booty ?
Why kill when the earth will do it for you in a short time ?
I think if people really thought the world was ending, they would spend time with family or in church or some other form of worship
I see panic perhaps but not killing and stealing, Those two things make no sense in an end of world scenario.
I am sure that some would anyway but certainly not most.

if planetary alignments can influence earthquake activity on earth, i'd watch for the 24th may, when we'll have
JUPITER>MERCURY>SUN>VENUS>MOON in alignment, with the earth itself slightly offset from the lineup.
again, that's IF these alignments are influential regarding terrestrial seismic activity. i don't know they are for certain, but i'm open to the possibility.

That's been my wonder and speculation as well. While there have been several global events occurring, nothing world-ending appears to have happened - unless people want to collectively say every event is a sign of the coming end of the world.

So, assuming that nothing that's occurred yet is part of what is believed to be coming, then one would have to assume that it all does indeed come crashing down on the 21st of December. To be honest, I'm expecting there to be more damage and threat from people panicking and/or looting or resorting to wild violence as December 21st gets closer, than any actual world event.

Who knows, though, maybe something will happen to massively destabilize the Fukushima plant or similar.

The other aspect is, however, when exactly is the December 21st event triggering, time zone wise? I assume it would be on whatever timezone matches the major Mayan cities?

The truth is that the info is wrong. It's not farfetched. It is not speculative. It is wrong.

Look at all of the 'fireballs', earthquakes, and just plain crazy weather.

According to the AMS there are several thousand fireballs a day. Quakes are no more numerous. Volcanic eruptions are no more numerous. Weather is always crazy. That's why people talk about it.

In case you missed it, the great alignment in 2000 destroyed the world.

Alignments do no cause quakes. The Moon is the only celestial body correlated with quakes and then only a few rare/uncommon low intensity quakes.

The Biblical Calendar is basically another name for the Hebrew Calendar.

The Hebrew calendar or Jewish calendar, is a luni-solar calendar used predominantly for Jewish religious observances.

Just do an internet search for "Biblical Calendar" and many links pop up.

Has anyone looked into any past dates of may 20th to see if anything jumps out?
Remember history sometimes repeats itself, or gives clues.
