Thanks for the link Kantzveldt.

I was able to locate that item at Germany, Karlsruhe, Badisches Landesmuseum.
Section: Archeology
Culture: Urartu ca. 800 BC

So not so far away at all - for you and me + concerning the time-line.

en.wikipedia.org...

Here are some more perspectives.
javakhk.livejournal.com...

More Turkey/Armenian but not so much Sumer?
It is considered to have been some kind headgear for horses (in battle + strapped to a chariot (TdM VII)).

So it seems to be more some kind of remembrance and not so much a real perception from what was going on at the Ziggurat

But I love the connotations.
You can PM me again about it (or other topics... ) if you like Princess.

That's great thanks, it looks like there's a pair, one for each chariot horse. The connection did appear to be with war because the figure seems to be holding the Sar-ur weapon, which is normally seen as a one piece but he appears to have detatched each end to hold in each hand...just to look really cool and mighty.

He is appearing through the winged gate, with all due power and radiance.

The archetypes date back to Sumeria, but yes this is from the Northern extent of Assyrian influence around 800 BC

The God in question will be Teisheba, a variant of the Hurrain Teshub, and i was only tracking his giant footsteps the other week...

Yes - I've seen that.
You're doing so much remarkable work.

So why not put some flesh in the stew?
