So apparently Israel doesn't get enough of our money as it is, now we have to foot the bill for "strengthening an Iron Rocket Defense shield".

The US could fork out $680 million on strengthening the Israeli Iron Dome rocket shield. To help Israelis defend themselves, the Republicans are seeking to stretch an already enormous US military budget a little bit more.

The plan to push for funding for Israel’s Iron Dome was disclosed by two congressional staff members, Reuters reports. The Obama administration earlier announced that an “appropriate” level of funding will be provided for this program, but did not request any specific sum for 2012, and thus Congress has not appropriated funds for it. More at EndtheLie.com - EndtheLie.com...

The US has already spent over $200 million co-financing Iron Dome deployment in 2011. However, for the election year of 2012, the US only approved $235 million to finance the lesser-known Israeli anti-missile systems “Arrow” and “Magic wand”(or David’s Sling) types, leaving the Iron Dome behind.

US military help to Israel would come as part of a $30 billion 10-year military-aid agreement signed by the Bush administration back in 2007. From 2009 till 2018 the US is granting Israel approximately $3 billion per year, 26 per cent of which Israel can spend on locally-manufactured equipment. Moreover, Israel is the only recipient of US military aid granted permission to use the funds on local development and the procurement of military hardware.

So Bush is still spending money after not being in office for 3 1/2 years.

Doesn't Israel already get enough of our money? I don't think we should send any money to them in the first place.

US aid represents about 20 per cent of Israel’s total military budget. The aid is spent mostly on US-built military hardware and inventory build-up of cluster munitions, smart and bunker-buster bombs. Israel also announced it would spend $2.75 billion of US aid on 19 notorious F-35s, the fifth-generation stealth aircraft, whose development had already cost the US taxpayers some $382 billion.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 authorized $662 billion in funding “for the defense of the United States and its interests abroad.” With the “Overseas Contingency Operations,” Department of Defense spendings will exceed $700 billion. And with all indirect expenses and interest on debt incurred in past wars the total military budget will exceed $1 trillion. More at EndtheLie.com - EndtheLie.com...

So there you go. Over 1 Trillion dollars will be spent on the military. And people complain about food stamps...

why not just give it to them for free. it would save the taxpayers billions.

why is the united states giving money that has to be spent on private military companies.

on a small scale it would be like me forcing the guy down the street to give me 30% of everything he earns on the pain of incarceration if he doesn't, taking that money and giving it to someone else on the condition he uses that money only to buy from an associate's business who paid for that right thru contributions.

and the kicker is, that associates funding comes from the 30% i took from the guy down the street.

if a private citizen did that, it would be labelled organized crime and the person would be indicted on racketeering charges.

taxes is theft, pure and simple.

Nothing highlights the hypocrisy of those on the Right who pretend to be about the Constitution and limited government than their support US tax dollars going to Israel.

So all this money Israel gets from the USA to spend on their military defense is all "aid" and none of them are loans, right? I just wanna make it clear that Israel does not have to pay any of this money back, right?

Ron Paul is right, Israel needs to be on their own, this is getting ridunkulous, but then again, America can always pay her bills because the Federal Reserve can just print more money. What's it gonna take before enough is enough?

Israel is owned by the same people who own and run the US to begin with. It isnt just another country because it flies a different flag. To all those who think Israel really runs the us, when you are a citizen there you get 3 years of compulsory military servitude. And Israel despite being right in the bullseye is not allowed to make peace with the strategic adversaries of the US either.

Look at the size of their military compared to their population, the country is pretty much a glorified US controlled military base.

That's the US military scam and why the US starts wars 'for democracy'.

Same reason Greece had to spent bailout $$$ buying up old EU mil equiptment.

All about the shares and shuffling the funds around to make it 'appear' the economy is moving
