Pages and pages of completely uncritical analysis.

The bunsen burner is at 1500 degrees and yet the material is clearly shown to glow red hot and burn at that temperature. You also see at the end that it completely crumbles after he opens the egg.

There is nothing remarkable about this whatsoever. A number of insulators work very well up to 2000 degrees. See the video at the end of this post for one working at 7000 degrees.

When discussing the properties of an insulator, people will talk about:

* thermal conductivity
* shrinkage
* degradation
* thermal range

Simply saying that a material can "withstand" a 10000 degree flash is meaningless without quantifying it.

I do not believe this insulator retains its integrity at 10000 degree continuously. A flash maybe. But then other materials will withstand that too.

In short, I see no reason to suppose that this material is extraordinary in any way. The asbestos mats that a bunsen burner sits on probably do much better.

Here is an example of an insulator working fine at 7000 degrees:

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I've been wondering about what happened to Starlite for years. I think I first heard about it in a television report of some kind, years ago. I remember a demonstration in which a thin layer of Starlite was painted onto the side of a raw egg and then an acetylene (!!!) torch flame was held up to the egg for a few seconds and the egg wasn't even cooked, let alone burnt through or exploded.

Starlite would revolutionize any number of industrial and safety scenarios involving hot materials or fire.

The only trouble with hygroscopic materials like Aerogel is that they don't tolerate moisture...

G dam government and their F'ing greed. I was just reading a thread made earlier about the how some of the worlds best scientist have been dieing of strange and suspious deaths. The majority of the scientist were in biology fields. And after reading that this stuff was organic it just kinda makes me wonder whats going on that is being kept under tight wraps.

I hope that one of his family members remembers the formula and goes to every news and media platform (ATS included) and releases how to make it.

Cant silence everyone......can they....dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuun.

The only one being greedy was the inventor. Heck a 25% share would of been more then generous; the inventor is a traitor to humanity and his immediate family(siblings and their children+ his own children if they have any) aught to be sterilized for the severe nature of the crime.

Well, this is what happens in this world. It's another reason this place is uninhabitable for me. Just another reason to believe that, after this year, things are going to be different. I can't see any other reason this guy would just 'die' suddenly at such an ironic time. Someone took him out. And, I believe he, like anyone who leaves here, has ended up somewhere where they can get help. I don't think life ends here. Hell, I don't think it even begins here.

Thank you for your intelligent response. I did not even watch the video myself before commenting as I did on whether or not it should have gone to the grave with him and the others. Next time, I will watch the video and try to say something to the effect you did before sidetracking the thread. Your post should be on the very front page before all the others so people don't have to go through 3 pages of garbage just to see the video is nonsense.

A material would not have to maintain 100% integrity to be useful. Just like the tiles of the space shuttle it can do a job and then be replaced. But in the case of Starlite it can be replaced very cheaply and its super light. Starlite was proven to be 2400 times a better insulator than the tiles on the space shuttle at only 1mm thickness compared to the current 75mm thickness.

Starlite's main points are :

- Cheap.
- Easy to make.
- Works as a dry solid that can be mixed with other materials.
- Does not produce dangerous fumes.
- Very light.
- Works when spread very thin.

Think about it, you mix it with paint and your house will not catch fire ..you might have to repaint but your not going to die from fire or toxic fumes. At the end of the day there is nothing that even comes close to the combined qualities and usefulness of Starlite.

Also Starlite was officially tested by UK Department of Defense , NASA and Boewing and they all wanted to buy it. It was even tested by ICI chemicals. Its just they couldnt agree on a price or who had ultimate control of the product. So there is no question as to whether it works well enough to be useful.

I know!! it's actually ludicrous when I think about it...
We share remedies for flu's and headaches, cuts and bruises, acne, mouth diseases, stretch marks, etc, etc...
we share recipes for natural insecticides, cleaning solutions, building materials, cooking recipes, etc,
we share SO much with eachother...

I wonder when we'll drop the self-agrandizing, selfish, greedy behaviour?

We need to achieve compasionate sharing and caring, it seems the world wills for it...
we'll Make it happen; nobody said it'd be easy

I've often had random little ideas for "inventions"/"variations" to make life easier or more sustainable. Through the years I've stopped imagining patenting for profit. Instead, I would rather blog my silly ideas (if I ever got round to it), because I'd probably never make them and just imagine actually seeing your idea, working and aiding people...

They may have tried to buy it to keep it out of someone else's hands who could have used it even though they had no intention of using it.

They say they're all about going to space (NASA), but we know better (NAZIs).

They most likely already have it, and are using it in the secret black space program. If not, it's buried just like all the alternative fuel patents that they buy up. 10 years ago a guy figured out a way to use used tires in asphalt. Apparently, this asphalt mixed with the tire rubber increased the life of regular car tires by years. The tire companies banded together, purchased the patent and buried it. Whole lot of that kind of stuff going on in The World with various inventions and ideas. It's a shame too. ~$heopleNation

Lots of claims have been made.

Anyone have any evidence?

Any official press releases from anyone that has actually tested this stuff?

-----

Would love to believe this stuff is real, however I have seen people be burned on ATS far too many times to take any of you at face value. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

This is amazing.
It is one of those inventions that must be reinvented again.
It is too good to be missed out.

My guess is that when something like this "vanishes," it often means that somebody else (possibly the government or a company working for the government) came along and secretly bought the patent to it, possibly changed the name, and maybe even did a little bit of research on it so that a better version of it was created, rendering the original obsolete. The people involved may have signed a non-disclosure agreement. So their wonderful invention was bought, improved upon, then dumped, only to fuel conspiracy theories later. I imagine it happens all the time, but you just rarely hear about it.

That's pretty freaking impressive. I'm at a loss for words regarding why this isn't in mass production on aircraft and vehicles for safety. The applications are nearly limitless.

On Maurice Ward's blog it says the same "Starlite" is being used in the army being made into flak jackets an other things.. It also says this stuff is pretty old so i'm 99% sure the secret is out..
But of course that could be wrong but I believe they are using it.
I do wish it was being made more for the public too as it could save millions of people from every day disasters.

In truth, I'm appalled by the stupidity of humankind. If such a substance existed, it would be in wide application by now, with every chemical manufacturer having their own version of it. Look at the revolutionary technologies such as microwave ovens and spray paint. Common ideas, mass produced, each different company spinning their own version. Such things become standardized.

There's no standard for a "Heat Resistant" polymer. Plastics melt. Period.

If you want something that doesn't melt in the presence of heat, use brick, ceramic, or Rigelian f'trik wood. Anything less is just fantasy.

So you don't believe this because you think its plastic and you see plastic melt when you use it....... Oh and because were all not using it.............??

That is pure ignorance, specially calling all of humanity stupid when your the one being stupid.........
What about the other inventions JUST like Starlite in its heat resistance area and the numerous videos
of them testing them in different ways, what about all the info on the different inventions?
OOOOOHHHH your being a troll aren't you?! Haha! Silly guy you got me there!

I could understand if you just said simply you might not believe if it was real since i'm sure
non of us have seen it live, but to not believe and act like were all dumb because we do is
rude to everyone and dumb on your part given the fact that you probably didn't even try and
research anything about it either before coming of as "better" then everyone or smarter, whatever
you were trying to accomplish.

So the scientist demanded 51% share to make insane profite and yet you blame the government for their greed? What does the government have to do with private businesses? Some people on here look for any excuse to bash the government.

I understand you railing against corporate greed the kind there you say "I have discovered free energy" and BP says "put that man in a box" however to say that that is the reason progress should be buried is an over reaction that would have us in the dark ages.

The problem is that for true benefit to be gained competition and commercialism (capitalism) needs to have egalitarian principles or we all need to be socialist (which never works because we are greedy and enjoy a bit of hate your neighbour)

So when something truly remarkable does get built by a sad bloke who lives in his shed, it gets buried.

You know BT actually invented the internet 40 years ago? one of their engineers proposed a Military Unicommunicator byte feed between two remote machines using a phone line-it said something like "hello this is information from a remote station" in text on the screen.

BT said well done to the engineer and filed it as their IP, then forgot about it for 25 years. Muppets.

Prot had the right idea which was one of total vocationalism, no politics, no religion, no money, no ownership, everything is everyones, everyone does everything, every idea is shared and those that advance us get moved along. It seems like we had some bad ideas a while back and just can't shake them now.

Freeware is the way forward and eventually that will punish the corporations that bury advancement.

I remember the original TW broadcast of this 20+ yrs ago.

I can imagine how a coating of this would change the IR heat sig of military vehicles, wonder how it might affect the radar sig!

thinkin out loud.
