Sad to say, and rather bluntly, you sir, are talking BS, without even any attempt to comprehend the reality of what had been to us all humanity.

Sir, where was I in '08? Oh, I was sitting under a hedge of protection I created for myself because history tells us market crashes, recessions, and hard times happen. I see dozens of posts here on ATS about being prepared for calamity. The warning signs are everywhere. No, the people here who are complaining about their foreclosure, losing their jobs, and so forth did not prepare accordingly. Do you know what my reality is? My reality is budgeting and spending as little as I possibly can so that I might save as much as I can so that I have hedged myself against calamity. I will repeat, history tells us that this is the only way to protect ourselves because the rug ALWAYS is pulled out from under people. Why can't people figure out that in their lifetime at some point something really bad will happen that will threaten them financially? Why can't people figure out that it is just a matter of "when"?

People get into this mindset that everything will be rosy all the time. Green shoots and candy for everyone! Yay for the "la la land" of ipads, iphones for the whole family, flat screen TVs, No, I freaking know better than to not be protected, and I freaking don't even have a family. If I had people to take care of I would be even more careful.

The real reality is just like every single time before a recession occurs, people are enjoying their massive prosperity and using it to fund their lifestyle paycheck to paycheck. Did you know that the savings rate of America is -1%? The people of the United States spend 1% more than they make each year. That is freaking ridiculous. The average American has $10,000 in credit card debt. That is freaking ridiculous. The average car you see going down the road is carrying a $350/m car payment. That is freaking ridiculous. Oh, and the statistics were the same before the 2008 crisis. Nothing has changed............and you are saying I'm BSing?

No wonder there were millions of foreclosures and suffering people. The average American was spending more than they made every single year. I am supposed to have sympathy for them compared to the banks / credit card companies? They are one in the same.

Yes, I have sympathy for the plight they are now in but there is no way I'm going to side with the American people when they were the ones who facilitated the problem with their lifestyle and lack of saving. How should I feel when I see people who are making the same amount of money I am living in homes that cost $100,000 more than mine, buying iphones for the whole family, driving bran new cars, spending thousands at Christmas time, pulling out their credit cards to pay off other credit cards. That is the reality of America and the statistics prove it. The ball is in your court to show me how "responsible" Americans have been with their money. Show me something that tells me how frugal, wise, and pertinent savers Americans have been. Show me where the wisdom is I said the ball is in your court to show me that what I spout is BS. Otherwise start saving more and typing less.

note: Sadly, the above statistics also take into account 401k contributions, which are used for retirement. So the real savings rate is quite a bit worse than the above statistics.

Notice that personal saving rates went negative in 2005. Surprise, surprise, surprise the recession hit a few years later. Must have been the fault of the big bankers brainwashing the people to make stupid choices with their money eh?
...........kind of odd that over these years my debt has stayed at $0.00 and my savings rate stayed above 50% on a $28k salary. Sorry, but I'm extremely happy I can't relate to the average American because if I could I would have to call myself out for being unwise.

How about you piss off with your biased bullcrap? Plenty of us that did the right thing, weren't spending irresponsibly, had savings etc etc, have lost our houses. Being out of work for a long time, you drain right through your savings....

I hope if it goes bad for you, the people around you remember how smug and condescending you were, and refuse to have sympathy for you as well.

This isn't about bashing people for making mistakes and being unwise in spending. It's about getting things under control now and changing the direction of the country. I don't wish any harm to come to anyone, and I definitely want people who made mistakes to be able to pull themselves out of this mess.

However, sitting around with our fingers in our ears to the mistakes made does nothing. If people begin saving, begin wise spending, begin to be fiscally responsible and hedge against calamity then they will feel free and be free from the stranglehold banks have on us today. There is nothing I want to see than people be independent from the banks so that their coercion fails.

Really, no one should take anything said personally, but they should aim towards freedom and fiscal responsibility. I know there are many exceptions to the overspending. There are those who have had to live paycheck to paycheck their entire lives. There are those who started off poorly and haven't been able to pull themselves up or just when they were starting to get a handle on things the system fell apart. I understand people have lost their jobs and have gone through all kinds of crap they shouldn't have had to experience. However, there does need to be discussion about our own part in the problem.

I am only trying to bring more information to everyone. Take it or leave it.

One thing to consider, how come our Senators and Congress People get really super good medical and retirement benefits and we, the common person get next to nothing????

Who in the hell is working for who???

That is all that I ask.

One medical issue, like Zap with a baby with a liver problem???

We need to demand the exact same medical care and retirement package those that "serve us" (cough cough, LOL) That "serve us" get.

We need a medical health care insurance...................but we need to maintain a vigilance that those who are charged with our medical care insurance are there for us.

We need to really scrutinize those that are charge with our medical care with vigilance.

In short, corporations operate on profit - we need to vote in people that people that have some morals.

Every human deserves to be healthy, to have health care.

We need to thinik of each other vs of only our selves.

You think that "well this won't affect me".......................eventually it will, I promise you, I've seen the big picture.

Just do the research of what the people running our government get compared to you.................simple do the research.

Congress and Senators get mega medical care coverage and reitirement - WHY DON'T YOU?????

We pay their salaries, they are suppose to "work for us" yet we work for them.

Gpd. wale up..............please, I'm not trying to be obnoxious, just wake you sleeping beauties up from the matirx.

Love and safe journey,

Reading stuff like that sure makes me glad that I live in one of those gudamn socialist countries. A sick kid wouldnt have gotten us underwater to begin with.

Also I am not entierly sure about Obamacare I dont know all the details. If you guys want something like in Europe or outside the US for that matter, then make sure Obamacare is just that with an American flag on it and not another way to scam the people.

All you people are screwed because you were dumb with your money.

You should have done what I did.. now this is a new novel concept not many people have heard before and it will shock you.. ready..

Don't buy anything if you cannot afford it IN FULL. This includes a house, cars etc. Give em cash, up front and don't let any banks or finance company be involved. Don't use credit cards either.

All you people who are " Buying houses" are dumb. You Only buy a house if you can pay for it outright.

If you cannot afford to purchase a house outright.. Don't Buy One !! If you cannot afford top purchase one outright, you don't deserve to have one.. because your not thinking clearly. You must know anything can happen in the future. It really is that simple. Americans have made banks RICH.. and Greedy ! Why.. because you dumb people use their services ! You should just go to the Casino and gamble your money away.

No, I don't care how many kids you have. If you could not afford to take care of the kids, you shouldn't have had them either. All this IS your fault when you get down to it. Sure, you were taken advantage of by bankers and others out to get you, but you put yourself in this situation to begin with.

Got 4 kids? Need a 300.000 dollar home for them? No you don't !! An apartment that costs 1200 a month will work just fine. This is whats wrong with this country.

Using hindsight such as yours, no one will be so dumb as to plonk their life upon another banker's scam of supposed 'guarantee' for loan, not today, nor the slimeball bankers will offer anymore today. So take your crap and piss it out anywhere else, so long as none is offended.

Prior to the financial crisis, how many would had foresaw the direction where globalisation would lead to slavery eventually? Hell, every apathetic citizen thought it would have mean more wealth for ALL, and supported it vigourously. But unfortunately, the consequences we say today was far different from what had been assured crystal ball gazing economist in the pay of the wealthy and the paid corporate puppets in congress.

Many had trusted the gov, espacially the moron Bush administration, to do the right thing, for most citizens already have tonnes of worry to be concerned with, and left the watch of big biz to the gov.

The gov failed and we saw how BIG private enterprises laid waste to the economy with reckless loans, returns, etc. Today, we are paying the price for the sufferings and pain due to our apathy and misplaced trust. Let us not and never allow the next innocen generations to pay for our mistakes.

It would be a tragic and inhuman irresponsibility to them by us, whom they naively had look upon us adults to give the proper guidiances. We failed once, must ackknowleged it honestly, forthrightly and change, or it will be them that suffer as we spare words, continue with the unconscionable greed and wealth we had stole from others today.

To those of you who have lost your homes,I am so very sorry---apparently it seems its been a plan by design, all put into process to cause a web of failure. I don't think anyone posted this one yet.

The message fits in here, you can see its all rigged for failure now.

I don't know how to embed this; Its on Youtube:

"If I Wanted America To Fail"

If someone wants to post this where it might get more views, you are welcome to do so. I am not sure where it fits in, or how to bring this subject to light---but it sure seems 'everyone' should see this.

What an unbelievable kick in the gut; sympathy does little to help with your current situation but I think you know that most members read your post and genuinely wish there was something we could do to help. The S & F's say it all. Unfortunately, so many are not in any financial position to offer tangible help so our commiseration is the best we can offer.

Yes, this country has definitely gone to pot and anything that involves big business is devoid of all integrity or principle other than selfish greed and ego - a situation which has cumulatively and insiduously snuck up on us honest Joes as we were busy tryIng to put food on our family's table. They all just s##k and purposely make it impossible for us to understand our rights so that their mill of corruption can keep on churning.

I wish I had some magical words of encouragement for you but the best I can do is let you know that the vast majority of us feel the same as you and that eventually the will of the many HAS TO overcome the will of the few. I know this does little to help but hang in there - your family needs your strength - and know that you are not alone in this # up situation. Sometimes just venting and making others think about what's going on outside their own little universe is what it takes to wake people up.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours...

Hey! Thank you ProudBird! for embedding this video for me. I guess it was the wrong thread to put in on, because I have seen that it went viral and yet no one here at ATS has even mentioned it. Also heard that Twitter tried to ban it from being Tweeted! That is astounding; censorship? Not sure? What is going on with the our rights to free speech---It is getting very strange "out there".

Anyway, thanks for helping me post it and I hope someone finds it that might know what to do with it or where it should be posted that it gets some attention.

The point was, all these problems about losing homes and jobs and bank accounts and freedoms seems to be in the plan, and this video shows how its being played out with such underhanded ease that no one seems to notice that all the loss is being perpetrated on purpose.

Well, thank you, let's see if anyone else might be interested in this video and make some comments.

I am so sorry Zarp3333. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. It breaks my heart to hear this happening over and over to good, hard working people. I believe, I will write a new thread of my own experience regarding Banks. It has to stop. Maybe if enough people write about it, it will help others before it is to late. BLESSINGS.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I was in the same boat 4 years and I ended up moving out of State to live with my sister and her family for a few years to get back on my feet. It was the best thing I ever did. The situation was hard while going through it. But, you do learn that the material things mean less and less. I am grateful my children were a little older and starting life on their own. So that I didn't have to drag them into my mess. I worked in Real Estate for so many good years and them it just stopped. I wish you the best.

Research what exactly?

How to pay a mortgage on time? I'm pretty sure that over the course of human history that if debts are not paid, nothing good can happen.
