This raises a lot of questions, not least of which is why are the british government giving them a £1.6billion aid package? This is a country rich enough to have their own space program and a % of my taxes are going to them in aid? What the f***.......

India has no first use policy on nuclear weapons. Unless attacked by a nuclear weapon we wont use it. That could be another reason

Not trying to be a jackass, but, since when do countries abide by "policies"?

How convenient for people sitting at home to talk about how India should look at poverty first. India is doing enough and will continue to do so. You may not be able to comprehend the fact. But you need to understand the fact that the population of India is many time that of the US or any European country.

In 1962, Indian soldiers did not have proper equipment to fight the Chinese. The military development of India is purely for the protection of her border to prevent any such humiliation again.

And yes, India is a very ( I mean a VERY ) corrupt country, but that doesn't mean its going to nuke the world.

And the only reason India developed nukes was as a defense measure against China and not because India wanted to assert her presence.

Honestly I think that the North Korean missile failures are a ruse to persuade us that they're not a threat.

Sure not a threat! yeah right NATO, India has just lunched a nuclear-capable missile that can reach China and Eastern Europe.

If anyone doesn't know, Eastern Europe European countries are parts of former Russian states as Poland.

And yes even capable targeting the Balkans. Yet NATO claims its not a threat Not even a beep from mainstream news media outlets like CNN or BBC hypocrisy right there.

Since India has lunched a nuclear-capable missile that can reach China does that mean we are getting closer to a world war?

Their NP record is "solid"? How is their record solid after they performed Nuclear Test AFTER signing the NPT? Pakistan did the same thing. They ran Nuke test AFTER signing the NPT. Guess what? That is the same thing NK is doing and if Iran is working towards developing a weapon, its the same thing there as well. As a matter of fact, India was THE FIRST country to test a nuke after the creation of the NPT.

and while I am venting away at the typical hypocrisy of our democracy, what purpose other than war does testing a long ranged nuclear missile possess? It is so obvious that Countries are gearing up for war, you have to blind not to see it.

NPT = Non-Proliferation Treaty. It has nothing to do with carrying out tests. It is to ensure that you don't spread the tech to other nations, especially rogue countries. I think you are confusing with CTBT (Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty). India has never shared this tech with any other non-nuclear nation, so yeah, their record is still clean.

Pakistan did the same thing.

And it would be highly inaccurate to compare India with Pakistan, when it is clear knowledge their infamous scientist Dr. A. Q. Khan proliferated technology to Iran, Libya and even NK.

Also, for the record, India is NOT a signatory to either of the treaties (NPT or CTBT). So again, they are not in violation of either.

Non - Proliferation....

it means you aren't allowed to spread the tech, but you can still develop it to your heart's content. The flipside of it all is of course civilian use, which isn't being honored anyways, which, imho, goes way beyond weaponisation issues.
